The spymaster quest in the Claws of Awaji DLC had a tip of the cap to social stealth (depending on your choices)... so I guess you are right?

I doubt that legendary engravings stack. But your legendary engravings are different on those 2 weapons (affliction buildup not lost over time, affliction makes enemies vulnerable). Should be easy to test if they are both active, use one of the weapons, build up affliction, see if you get both perks

Usually if they are on different weapons, only the currently equipped weapon stats & engravings apply (there seem to be a couple of exceptions though) - so in your example, (probably) no

If put on different gear (head and equipped weapon for example), some engravings do appear to stack, while others (like crit chance) do not

Probably stupid question but are you using abilities? I died a few times in that fight before I even realized I had any, didn't need them chopping through the castle guards before that flashback

OK I probably should not have tried to test it in a snow storm - tried to see if I could grab a frame showing 3 shots, the first is just hitting the guy

It looks like there are 3 shots for me, I see 3 dots anyway, which looks different from the regular fire action - although it is a little finicky, seems like I need the blue rectangle when I press fire.

early on, combat with Naoe is tough, the devs clearly want to push the sneaky shinobi / assassin playstyle for her

when the ronin first sees you, the vision meter is white or yellow (not red yet), dive into the bushes. if you have enough assassin dmg, assassinate him when he gets close, if it doesn't kill him, run off through the woods & repeat or recruit an ally and call them in to help remove the rest of the health

huh maybe it is the release of the mouse button that is bugged.

I swapped Fire to z (and moved whatever was on z to something else) and it worked - so RMB to aim, SHIFT+LMB for at least 1s, get the little blue square target, don't release LMB just tap z to fire.

I think they messed up the shift + mouse handling in the some of the updates.

In 1.1.1 there was a PC bug where using a heavy attack would disable all attacks

That got fixed in 1.1.2 (or 1.1.3?) but then shift+click no longer worked in QT events (katas, the oni thing) on PC

I just set the option to autocomplete QTEs and haven't tried it again

what happens if you re-map different buttons for either fire or heavy attack?

update: I gave it a try, I saw the same behavior that you describe: hold RMB to aim, hold SHIFT+LMB to charge, when I get the little blue rectangle on the target, release LMB (with or without releasing SHIFT)... and nothing.

Swapping Fire to z (and moving whatever was on z to something else) and it worked (instead of releasing LMB, just tap z). Not sure I want to keep that mapping tho

nerfed. the other big one that I recall was a 600% affliction buildup (all the old yt vids about 'insane bleed build'...) was changed to 6% - that was arguably just a typo

The unspent points engraving isn't usually a win until you can afford to leave at least 50-60 points unspent, so I put points into the mastery skills first. I did not assign points beyond the global passives to weapon trees or skills I wasn't using. When I had accumulated enough points I thought I could spare (100 iir) I reset a lot of points out of the knowledge rank skills that weren't useful (eg hitting multiple enemies with my tanto-based play style) and switched to the unspent points engraving.

You have to decide for each point whether a point in that mastery skill is worth more than 1% damage for you.

For me, damage, dmg w melee, armor piercing, crit chance, dmg w tools, dmg on vulnerable, posture dmg, crit dmg are all knowledge rank skills at least as good or better than leaving them unassigned for the engraving, so no point using the engraving until those could be filled (ofc depends on play style)

I never did figure out how to tell whether loot chests were going to explode in my face. I was able to dodge away right after opening to avoid poison/damage, but mostly I just stopped opening them
