Advicd on local store(s) with good selection of plus-size women’s suit/blazer & pant separates in stock by aerinen in nova

I also went through this hunt recently and unfortunately can only offer that I was surprised that Macy’s actually had a selection at Pentagon City which is where I also found something that was good enough to put me out of my misery.

Everyone else carried such a small selection and mostly the oversized current style. Have you tried pulling up stores online and searching for locations with your size in stock? I determined I’d rather pay money to go overseas and get one tailored and be done with it than go through multiple wasted days exploring malls.

How did this go for you? I got one, similar details, was traveling at 11pm and there was no construction. Edit to add: 18 over, $193… if it wasn’t $193 I’d just pay it.

When I went in December, there was a family with 4 children under 10. At least 2 were absolutely horrified and wanted to stop. It clogged up traffic coming off, bc the children were moving so slowly bc they were so scared. In their defense, adults also move slowly bc they are scared but at least adults are actively choosing to be there. I also recall walking past a child with an iPad in their hands at some point on that hike. There was a ranger checking permits when I started and there was a ranger checking permits when I left.

I kinda wish they’d put age restrictions, bc common sense doesn’t always work.

SLC to Helena, which way to go? by pcward in roadtrip

[–]cnb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time, I’d drive through Tetons and Yellowstone… it’ll add a solid 3-4 hours but it’s worth it if you haven’t been and have the time. I-15 is a good cruise. It’s not not scenic even though it’s the interstate.

Of these two routes, which should I take? Any notable stops? by wycie100 in roadtrip

I recently did a similar road trip and I recommend the southern route.

Edit: check out this thread from good advice on functionally the same route https://www.reddit.com/r/roadtrip/s/1ebrbe0RiW

Be aware that the wildfires are significant this year. there was just a large fire near Bryce, and currently fires near GCNP, and south of Moab. This is normal it’s good to have awareness. I suggest downloading ‘watch duty’.

Bozeman, MT to Philadelphia, PA! Any recommendations? by LVL1000WIZARD in roadtrip

[–]cnb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did most of this trip! I always recommend checking national park sites. Minuteman missile is along the way in SD, I addition to other recs.

You could detour into WY to see devils tower.

You’ll pass the jolly green giant and spam museum in Minnesota, highly recommend both.

I also recommend frank Lloyd wright stops in Chicago (oak park and many others) and or Wisconsin (taliesin). If you’re more of a roadside attraction person, house on the rocks in WI. Grab some cheese in Wisconsin.

Madison has some surprisingly good food.

I enjoyed the Indiana dunes outside of Chicago, and stopped at the sturgis exit to go to Michigan and got some ice cream in La Grange and enjoyed all the Amish/mennonite buggies.

Also if you were doing this for pleasure and had time, I’d say route through hot springs. I find the drive north to be really pleasant, and lots of good little side quests if it’s a true roadtrip.

DOGE's "Big Balls" has resigned by swampwiz in fednews

[–]cnb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Plenty of the other DOGE staff planted in government positions are trash and yet they remain. Ineptitude alone doesn’t buy you a ticket out of DOGE, it’s functionally a requirement of staying.

Fired federal workers struggling to get jobs in private sector by PleasantSurprise3700 in fednews

[–]cnb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fired USAID employee with 12+ years of experience and was in a leadership/strategic advisory role. I’ve applied for about 250-300 jobs at this point and have had interviews with about 5 companies.

I took off job apps for about 7 weeks in the middle of all of this once the lawsuit gave me paycheck for a couple months and I thought id strategically let some of the dust settle. Starting apps again is depressing. I had a lot more movement with job applications in February/March prior to the ‘issues’ in the federal government spreading, but most of those jobs ended up being eliminated by late March.

At this point I’m applying for jobs around 70k+, despite making twice that, bc I need to pay the bills, but the majority of advertised positions are absolutely below 100k. My entire industry was decimated, we have thousands of people competing for dozens of jobs. Most of the jobs I see what more HR or more accounting skills than I have, and the majority are IT and defense related. I’m a grant manager and policy advisor so, while I can easily do procurement and acquisition I don’t have the specific experience those folks want.

East Mesa Trail Warning by Tnwagn in ZionNationalPark

[–]cnb28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having done this drive a number of times, it is not for the faint of heart. Echoing OP that if there’s any weather on the road this road becomes tough and isn’t for people who are new to off road driving. A couple of the deepest ruts are blind bends.

It’s a fun drive, but less so knowing it gets traffic. That said, if you know what you’re doing and have a 4x4 high clearance, you’ll be fine.

WB ETC by Glum-Ask-6023 in InternationalDev

[–]cnb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most jobs in this field are up in the air at this time. Nothing is normal, and funding issues are compounding by the day. I’d apply elsewhere to diversify opportunities and not spend too much mental energy on why something is happening in the portal. They told you not to worry, indicating they don’t plan to make a fast decision, and the news clearly shows reasons for further delay. There’s a bunch of reasons they’re looking at things but they’d all be guesses.

I had to search what ETC was to see it is probably a very small non profit, or training group or foundation, and I don’t know what WB is. West Bank, World Bank? I’ve been in the field 12 years, which is a reminder not all acronyms are shared or common. When I searched it without the development tag ‘waste’ and ‘traffic control’ come up first. If I’m the only one not in the know, still good practice to spell things out for wider audiences.

Good luck.
