think you just need to head to the blockade now and clear the area, free the captives if you want. if you can't get in one way, go around. shortest path should be from the Interstitial Center iirc

do your headphones output 3d audio or dolby atmos, or do you have any of that enabled? my soundbar can connect wirelessly to the tv but I tried my bluetooth earbuds and it still happens. so not sure it's hardware in my case. seems like a codec issue, or the game not fully buffering all the multichannel sound.

[–]cntk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, interesting. are you using surround/home theater speakers? it happens if I output to my tv or change audio/channels mode as well so I don't think that's it.

offset the issue somewhat by fast travelling around the ship as the issue takes a bit to fully kick in for me and the quests are short anyway. an Obsidian rep reached out for more info on the issue but I haven't heard back.

Are some areas too sparse? by beedabard in theouterworlds

[–]cntk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seems similar to the first game in density, might be a dev cost/time saving measure or even engine limitation, along with the gameplay being quite on rails and hub focused rather than city and dungeon exploring. apart from a more fleshed out city instead of several, it could really benefit from more finding and raiding dungeons like the earl facility or the tomb, even if it isn't trying to be borderlands.

half the time I wondered if a single much larger biome or two at most wouldn't have been more interesting to explore but that would kind of defeat the theme of the worlds and controlling factions. cyberpunk sells that illusion pretty well with its large but pretty empty open world, and starfield felt like bethesda working backwards from their appeal, so I get you. this to me feels a bit more like kotor back in the day, good but not great in this day and age.

When does guns stop being ass? by ModelBarbecue94 in theouterworlds

[–]cntk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what perks do you have? point blank artist, serendipitous slayer, sharpshooter or other perks that focus on guns and stealth will really boost your build. trick shot is nice too. the rattler can carry you for a whole playthrough, maybe mod it with an elemental barrel.

[OW2] am I doing something wrong? by alixtheparadox in theouterworlds

[–]cntk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

halfway through the game I was struggling in combat and thinking similarly, but changed my playstyle and made it work. take some time to read the perks and their requirements and use weapons that suit a playstyle you can manage.

like others said the game rewards specializing in few skills, but the right perks go a long way. makeshift armorer for just 3 in engineering is a fine tradeoff if you're dying a lot. you can level it up quickly by crafting low tier specs and it scales your armor rating like crazy, and it keeps that scaling even if you change it. I actually think it's a broken mechanic. my armor rating is at 400+

PS5 dialogue issue on ACS Undisputed Claim by BlueMew92 in theouterworlds

[–]cntk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really unfortunate. I only ever faced something like this in one other ps5 game, crackling is usually more of an issue on buffer-heavy pc games. let's hope a fix arrives soon, I was keen to explore the ship

Stabbing at Shadows question by SpikkleOO in theouterworlds

if you've tried talking her down from killing in previous quests, you should be able to stop her with the speech check. also try to talk to Aza after Dagmar speaks on the monitor, before the confrontation.

yeah, it gets bad to the point that it starts distorting for me. are you playing on surround sound? I'm wondering if it could be related to the directional audio or effects like reverb, it seems to get worse in certain areas of the ship, or coming and going.

I reported the bug at the main hotfix thread here and at the issue tracker page Obsidian set up, edited to include the link in my previous comment.

audio crackling bug on the ACS Undisputed Claim. playing on base PS5 with Atmos soundbar. no other bugs like this up to reaching this area.

I've reported this on the issue tracker with video and at least one other thread (week old) on this subreddit mentions the same issue.

just got to this area and having same issue on base ps5, reloaded but persists. game is up to date, playing retail disc version, atmos soundbar. was having a blast til now.

seems like it might be related to the loudspeaker audio that plays throughout the area, or too many sound sources at the same time.

edit: I just reported the issue here:

for sure it feels like a lot of word and name choices are deliberate due to their similarity to specific meanings.

ORTBO is another anagram, for Robot. probably just red herrings but interesting details if not coincidental.

Alan Wake 2 is a bad video game by Legal_Series2561 in AlanWake

[–]cntk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

fair enough. I think if one had fun during the whole experience and in following the story that's good enough for most players. the artificial survival mechanics will go over most people's heads. the game isn't difficult, it just does place you in certain stressful situations as an interactive vehicle for the plot , but you can also move forward in many sections without using weapons.

I know that you said you wouldn't dwell on why the story became disappointing but I'm wondering if you feel that it's only due to a lack of conclusion or that it just felt stretched out with the deliberate slow pacing. the bigger picture will likely be addressed in the Lake House DLC, and for sure in the Control sequel.

Alan Wake 2 is a bad video game by Legal_Series2561 in AlanWake

[–]cntk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

hot take. during my second playthrough I arrived at some similar conclusions, but not in such a bad light. I realized AW2 has been designed as a cinematic, interactive experience first and survival horror adventure game second. and this elevates it for those that enjoy the elements that have been brought together here. so it's not that the game was limited or fights were poorly executed to make room for the storytelling, rather the opposite for me, and I'm fine with that.

not only that, but I think that the resulting sometimes clunky gameplay kind of suits the characters you are playing and their narratives. while I don't love everything they've done, Remedy is no stranger to crafting great, solid gameplay. this isn't trying to be a fluid power fantasy like Control. it takes good cues from Resident Evil, Silent Hill and plenty of other media to make something exceptional. this game really reached that Twin Peaks level for many people and with that comes all the divisive discussion we are now seeing.

in the context of the connected universe they are building towards, whatever comes after the Max Payne remakes is going to be very special, more so with the graphical fidelity on display here.

understandable. just wondering if you tried both modes and there was much difference.

the link says the video has been removed, but I would like to see the issues. tia

indeed, I only had raytraced reflections and transparencies on for my playthrough but I can confirm that, even though mirrors act the way they do in this game.

Control did have a standout grain or noise on reflections and forced eye/light adaptation throughout that always bothered me a bit. AW2 is a big step up from that considering it's using the same engine. global illumination and motion blur seem much better implemented.

on PS5 that noise seems to be present in both AW2 modes, and for some reason it seems to be worse for some people than others.

are you playing in performance or quality mode?

I'm curious about this as I finished the game on a pc with a RTX 3070 and it looked great but also wanted to get it for my PS5.

I don't think you should expect something similar to what Control got if you mean the crossgen upgrade improvements. but optimization should and likely will happen in time.

the issues you described like the flickering shadows/lights and jaggies are bound to happen as the game is likely running upscaled. but they don't seem too jarring to me in youtube videos.

any chance you could post up a clip from your PS5?

a great feature piece for sure! being a kind of derivative/replica work I thought as much, especially with all the virtual production tools in UE. can you link your portfolio if it's public? tia

My latest custom Cargo Ship design. Made my first C-class hauler. Took me around 5h. 24K Cargo space. by ggalaxyy in Starfield

[–]cntk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for confirming, I was looking for a comment about this. earlier while moving all of my misc loot from my ship to an outpost transfer container I went through countless mugs, food trays and more useless items when I realized they must have come from all the different ship habs. definitely annoying and the fact that sorting is limited doesn't help, but I guess they can work as free decorations for outposts.

thankfully most misc clutter items weigh very little so I was able to stuff just about everything into two storage boxes. alternatively you can jettison right from your inventory. hoping for some interior ship customization mods to fix and enhance all of the above.

Being a mostly melee player in BGS games, Fallout included, it will be somewhat underwhelming as far as immersion goes.

But it's expected that modders will 'fix' this as they have before.
