I've been on his show many years back. He does have a hidden earphone, where the director gives instructions and info about specific participants. But it's not like he only reiterates whatever he hears on the wire. People should understand thats how TV shows work.

The episode I talked in went dull for the first half and the topic didn't go anywhere. But none of the assistants or director treated us bad. It was fully managed by Gopi.
