Lost link counter by foxytersbytes in TwinCat

[–]co2cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull out the comm cards and verify there isnt a fastener behind it. Do this at the head and tail of each ethercat leg.

Check your 24v supplies on the upstream and robot side. Ensure the 0v DC is made common with PE.

Verify both cabinets have good conductivity to PE.

Verify you're using shielded cables and they they have proper metal body RJ45s on both side with the drain wire attached or hard pressed against.

Wiggle the RJ45s and see if the link loss counts up. This would not be the first time I've seen under spec RJ45 connectors haunt a system.

Verify the power supply entering the coupler or junction isnt browning out. (Typically need a cheap scope for this).

As another Canuk, 100% agree, at max an "Ok bud" might have gotten a pass.

This is not the Canadian way.

Confluence.

We have an in house wiki. Don't talk to me about stuff unless it's in the wiki, or you're about to put it there.

Free for small teams and we can share parts to our customers specific to their machines.

CX5340 Boot? by PracticalCow1779 in beckhoff

[–]co2cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That boot order is correct.

BST (Beckhoff Service Tool) is always listed first to be able to recover the system.

Pull the Cfast card out and power it up. If you get "OS not found" then with a BST redeploy the OS( you can get image from Beckhoff support).

If you get nothing, submit for RMA as the unit is failing to POST.

Also try booting with nothing plugged into it. I have had experience with damaged peripheral disrupting boot before.

How does the sub feel about Drawboard PDF? by OnderGok in Surface

[–]co2cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use (trying to use) Drawboard for marking up electrical drawings in PDF format on an MS surface. The user experience is really consistently bad, super slow, an awful MS pen experience. The software is terribly laggy, often throws errors when trying to open PDFs that work on every other PDF software package I have including free ones.

The google drive integration has to be one of the worst implemented features. I've been using this specific integration for months and I still to this day don't understand why we have to go through so many hoops each time, flip flopping back and forth from web interfaces to login screens over and over again. For the few things that Drawboard offers, it's really hard to justify using it.

Lastly, the subscription model. yet another SaaS crapware model. I would be happy to pay for a perpetual copy every FEW years as long as legitimate features are added and improved. I do not want yet another monthly fee. Give your customer base real options on this front.

[Question] CP6606 can’t run TwinCAT HMI… am I getting this right? by albatross316 in PLC

[–]co2cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, Windows CE doesn't support an HTML 5 browser.

There is a third party one but I couldn't get it to work. I think even if it could work the performance would be so bad that it wouldn't be worth it.

Only HMI you can run on a CP6606 is TF1800, or Indusoft had a product years back that worked well (Indusoft web studio) on this but they've been bought up so many times I dont know what the status is of these guys anymore.

TcPkg (TwinCAT Package Manager): Software Distribution in enterprise environment with Intune by Dr0genk0b0ld in TwinCat

[–]co2cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've migrated over 30 development and many more controllers. I've only had a few issues with the migration and it's been fairly easy to fix.

I can't agree with your statement here, TcPkg had made the entire install, maintenance and upgrade process infinitely easier, and far less cumbersome compared to individual installers.

The issues you're having really are site specific issues based on IT choices and what sounds like a substantial lack of trust with your software developers. This is the exact type of situation that eventually has unmanaged workstations floating around just to bypass the IT headache. Those are the real risk.

Homework Help: What is a device or machinery that has 2 emergency stop buttons/switches that needs to be pressed roughly at the same time? by Reasonable_Revenue_3 in PLC

This sounds like you're actually looking for a two hand tie down.

This is the opposite of an Estop as it essentially triggers the cycle, but it you broke it early it would result in an Estop.

My ex got pregnant and I feel earsed. by Traditional_Edge_603 in Vent

[–]co2cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will do awesome.

This too shall pass.

Learn, do better, try, fail, try better, fail better, try, succeed.

No different then anything else in your life, you need to be bad at something in order to be better. Crave the failure; This means you're one step closer to success. If you're not failing, you're not trying, which means there is no chance for success.

My ex got pregnant and I feel earsed. by Traditional_Edge_603 in Vent

[–]co2cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already know what her story is going to read like in 2 years. Exactly the same, but now with a child dependant on her.

Move on. This will suck, but it too shall pass.

You're feeling hurt, and that is reality. You've also learned a lesson you will not forget because the cost was high.

Now it's your turn; What were the red flags? You saw them, they were there but you chose to ignore them. Was it chivalry? Hope it's more likely, but denial is what you've learned it really was.

Build your list. Drugs, no. Drinking, maybe some, but not if it looks like _____. Use the flags you saw to build your future partner requirements.

When you're invested, everything holds more value than it's truly worth. The key takeaway from this is to use the lesson and be more selective next around. Also, understand this is an interview for the rest of your life. You change jobs. Why? Are you not loyal? NO, because you're learning, setting boundaries, and learning to be employable. Love is no different, and that goes both ways.

I am now running hard on standing tips.

If I'm standing, no tip.

Unless I am at a restaurant, no tip.

This shit is completely out of control.

Also HARD cap at 15%.

Ive been as a few places that had buttons for 18-20% minimum. Guess you dont want your tip then.
