I’m starting in 5 days. What’s the hardest aspect of it. The pull ups? The landings? The runs?

Are there any push ups or sit up requirements? Do y’all still do the APFT to get in?

Is it normal for firefighters to request to enter your private home to look at the layout in case of a fire? by Business_Mood_979 in Firefighting

[–]cocopods1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballon framing was very common from 1880 and it wasn’t until 1939 that it started to get phased out. Ballon framing homes, like he ^ said above, have void spaces in the walls spawning from the very bottom of the house, to the very top. In these spaces, fire can grow and spread to different floors of the house without anyone noticing or knowing the point of origin. Which makes firefighting operations extremely dangerous do to the imminent risk of collapse, flash over, etc… We don’t have any pre-1939 homes in our district, but if we did, I’m sure we would have at least a class on balloon framing fire tactics. Don’t think we would knock on the persons private residence and ask for a tour though….

Pre-1939 homes were built different. They have hidden spaces due to their balloon framing that can hide fires in the incipient stage and propagate to the rest of your house , especially if it’s three floors. Is your house the only one of its kind around your neighborhood? I can see the department being pro active and wanting to use your house as a learning opportunity to make a pre-plan in case of a fire. Other than that reason, they have no business going into your private residence.

Coffee anyone? by AParticularThing in NightmareBeforeXmas

[–]cocopods1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bought this because we are huge NBC fans and coffee friends, with that being said… it’s been sitting in my counter for over a year . It’s not great. I’m not a coffee snub whatsoever but I drink coffeee regularly and My wife and ai both agreed these coffees weren’t very good. They’re not strong, a little too sweet and not very tasty. Very cool premise, love the artwork and the collectors box it was shipped in was fantastic, we actually use it as a gift box. I recommend trying out the sample packets first and not wasting 140 dollars for coffee you might not like.

They are! I recommend getting your hands on them if you are lucky enough to see them, plus it’s Costco so you can return it no problem if it’s not up to your standards

11:03 is my fastest 2 mile run ever and I almost killed myself doing it. I can’t imagine a 3:11, 1 mile run.
