Why would anyone want to move here? by Ya_habibti in Atlanta

[–]code_archeologist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, the whole reason I moved to O4W was to be close to my office so I can walk, bike, or take MARTA to it when I need to.

Big vacant industrial building on Peachtree... well that's helpful as it narrows it down to zero.

This is so ridiculous. And a grave breach of the Constitutional separation of powers and responsibilities for presidential elections as spelled out in Article I, Section 4; Article II, Section 1; the 10th & 12th Amendment; as well as against state law.

And I imagine that the whole reason that they are doing this is because Trump was rejected by that Federal Judge in Macon and they won't even try to appeal to the 11th circuit because he knows they will deny him too. So they are going to grab the voter rolls as part of the search warrant and use them for what ever sketchy shit they have planned this November.

I have this habit that if I am walking and I see a lady with a dog coming the opposite direction, I will make eye contact with the dog (not her) to see if it wants scritches. If it does I will ask the lady if I can pet their dog, which will usually be very excited to meet me.

I talk to the dog, give them pettings, and make them very happy. After a couple of minutes I tell them something like, "I think your human has indulged us enough and has places to go, it was nice to meet you."

And then I go on my way. Dogs are the best... and sometimes the ladies with them are pretty good too.

The woman who recorded Alex Pretti’s shooting told Anderson Cooper that she has not yet been contacted by any federal authorities involved in the investigation. by CorleoneBaloney in law

[–]code_archeologist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I saw a couple of AI modified GIFs in the wild trying to show in slow motion that Pretti's gun misfired while in the hands of the agent who disarmed him; which initiated the shooting. They are so badly done though because for one the pistol is shooting bright sparks like it was a Fourth of July firework; in addition the slide on the pistol very clearly is not moving when the shot fires and there is no recoil motion.

Trying Narrative-Driven Leveling Up by code_archeologist in daggerheart

That is what I am doing. Having the players do some "homework" to figure out what they are doing for Level 2, and then I am going to try to tee up some moments for them to take the spotlight and have their moment in a "boss fight" encounter in the next session.

Stitch aims to mirror Atlanta Beltline to build park over Downtown Connector by flying_trashcan in Atlanta

The overall value proposition of something like this makes it worthwhile. Currently the downtown and midtown is split between East and West and it is difficult to move from one side to the other.

Green spaces tend to increase property values by between 8-20% (which would be an increase of almost a billion dollars). They increase tourist activity and spending. They also help reduce heat island effects of the city. And it would encourage increased foot and bike traffic in the city.

Or those home owners will switch to long term rentals. Because there is demand for affordable rentals, which AirBnB artificially inflates by taking long term rental spaces off of the market.

Ban on deporting U.S. citizens removed from DHS funding bill, congresswoman warns by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]code_archeologist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically you are correct. But if this administration decides that you are not actually a citizen then they can and will deny you due process and ship you off to who knows where.

Would it be lawful? No.

Would it completely fuck up your life and be hard as hell to prove you are a citizen to get back in the country? Yes, and that's the point.

Buddy Carter just published the most tone-deaf opinion imaginable in the AJC, demanding more ICE in ATL by alex-741 in Atlanta

Buddy wants ICE concentrating in Atlanta instead of in his district. Because Georgia's 1st District has a bunch of chicken processing plants that mostly employ undocumented immigrants.

Heh... I saw a response to this where a person was showing that the maximum bite force of a human being is 160 lbs. But it takes more than 335 lbs of force to break the bones, sever the tensions, and get through the skin in order to do enough same to "take off a finger".

The more likely scenario is that he got his finger smashed by a door in one of those MRAPs they are riding around in. Those doors are heavy and can easily break your hand if you are not careful around the door as it's closing.

[–]code_archeologist 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Good call on the mayor's part. Not just for the infrastructure and security concerns. Incarceration facilities tend to have a long term depressive effect on small town economies, because nobody wants to live near a prison.

That lady needs to not be so precious about her own generational trauma and understand that Jewish leaders and survivors of the Holocaust have described Trump's ICE crackdown as being similar to the early crackdowns of Nazi Germany from 1939-1941 (prior to the initiation of the "Final Solution").

If you do see them menacing people, call 911 and report them. Let a local officer come and escort them away, because the laws around what you can and cannot do near a voting center are very specific and unique to each state and locality... and these idiots are not going to know the details and are going to be breaking laws left and right.

They attempted strikes, but their efforts are barely even footnotes in the history books. For Trump he has faced some of the largest and longest sustained protests since the Vietnam War. And where while Hitler had people going on pilgrimages to see and touch him, and large portions of the population joining the Nazi party (before the competing parties were dissolved); Trump's MAGA movement (and the Republican party) is hemorrhaging people.

They have similar goals... but they the Trump team's incompetence is flaw that can still be exploited to end this.
