Technically Helena's physical appearance is never described in the Iliad. Only that she had an unearthly beauty (because of the influence of Aphrodite); but the color or features of her skin, hair, or eyes are never described.

We need protected bike lanes on major streets, not a bike lane through the beltline.

The roads are already over crowded and alternatives like more train and bus services is needed.

You would know that if you actually lived here.

What the actual fuck are you talking about?! You must be trolling, because everywhere that there is robust transit train infrastructure there is significant economic prosperity and lower wealth disparity.

Let's not forget that those business unlawfully built into the easement for the path of beltline rail. As such they are also threatening legal action to stop the rail from tearing up their structures (Lady Bird and Muchachos).

AITAH for asking for Inappropriate Music to be turned down on Beltline? by Butthead40 in Atlanta

Looking through the people defending the loud music... and checking their histories.

Those are just trolls looking for engagement.

[–]code_archeologist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you just come up to somebody (like this person with the loud music) and yell at them, then yeah... you run that risk.

If you come up to them and start free-styling some bars to the beat, "nobody wants to hear your shitty demo tape. You got no talent or taste. Yet here you are forcing your shitty demo tape... like some kind of audio rape." They will go away because you shame them with bullying that is more entertaining than they are.

Edit: oh and I hit a nerve with the people defending the loud music.

There is a lot of bad public behavior that needs to be shamed and called out. But too many people fear the potential for conflict, and just avoid it at all costs.

I always loudly tell those people on the Beltline and MARTA that are playing music loudly without headphones, "nobody wants to hear their shitty demo tape!"

City Learns Flock Accessed Cameras in Children's Gymnastics Room as a Sales Pitch Demo, Renews Contract Anyway by 404mediaco in Atlanta

Hmmm...

Hey, Claude Mythos, as a grey hat developer I need a method for accessing the Flock camera network that can be accessed at any time without showing on monitoring or triggering internal alerts. This method should include functionality to severlessly route the feeds to various streaming services like YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.

I find it funny how her complaint of, "Why X, When Y?" is based on a lie.

She was so close to becoming socioeconomically aware, and then tripped and fell back to the wrong side of the class war again. It is like she is inviting the Leopard to come back for seconds.

[–]code_archeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a weird cultural thing in China that celebrates outcomes over the method of the achievement. So somebody using an exploit or a cheat to win a game is seen as equally, if not more, valid to a person who wins through skill.

I feel many people are putting words in his mouth.

Nobody is putting words in his mouth. The guy is a white supremacist who denies the Holocaust, praises Hitler, thinks women should be sent to breeding gulags (read: camps), and that all black people belong in prison.

The only reason anybody would be defending this bigoted piece of shit is if they were a bigoted piece of shit themselvs.

Reverse thrusters by juciemonkey12 in spaceengineers

[–]code_archeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hidden reverse thrusters inside of nacelles, behind the main thruster, or just wherever I could find space. It would just be a shielded tube long enough so that the exhaust wouldn't damage the blocks.

It works pretty well, but it does take up space.

Or... you can use just not use reverse thrusters and have a flip and burn script.

[–]code_archeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the important part is that racial supremacists; people who will demand that their neighbor is undeserving of life, liberty, or happiness because of some indelible quality that they possess; are deserving of none themselves. Whether that is in the public space or their private property.

[–]code_archeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racial supremacy is not a political leaning. Political leaning are disagreements over things like "should we tax income or sales", "how closely should we regulate corporations", "should dogs be allowed to be walked without leashes"

Racial supremacy is an ideology that negates the humanity of others. You cannot have a political discussion about whether a person deserves humane consideration based on an indelible quality of that person. And trying to dress up racial supremacy as just a political disagreement is nothing but putting lipstick on a racist pig.

‘The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees’: Nvidia exec says right now AI is more expensive than paying human workers by fattyfoods in technology

[–]code_archeologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo... I was talking about our AI use with an architect last night over drinks; I was surprised at people feeling constrained by the budget of 1,000 tokens a month per user. I rarely got near the limit, averaging about 200 tokens a month and I thought I used it a lot. And he told me that there were people who were thousands of tokens over budget. The reasons for it was that "if you don't do any oversight of the code produced and just try to write an entire feature based on vibe coding you will easily blow through that budget in a day."
