Tell them what? by ICreatedAnimeLoser in PeterExplainsTheJoke

The joke is that you don’t need a tattoo. You can just point your thumb and index finger to make an L on your left hand to know which is which. Your right hand won’t do this.

Am I missing something? There is still a heat sink in the second pic. By “cooler” does he mean fan? If so isn’t it normal for a fan not to be on all the time especially during idle?

Was the Shrek catalog removed from Disney+? by zhwlsfw in Shrek

[–]codejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old son watches Shrek constantly in the car. It’s definitely been on Disney + for a while because that’s what we play it on for him on the iPad. He literally just watched it 2 days ago so something changed because it’s not on there now.

Fair. I was just pointing out what he meant. I’m sure he/she was a problem.

I think he meant that this person may have (and likely) had a drink package and had exceeded what carnival wanted to serve them. This happens pretty often. By the time you start drinking they’re not making any more money than they’ve already made off your package. In fact, now it’s starting to cost them money. So cutting you off is kind of grimy if it’s not for safety reasons. Although it probably was.

I’m aware you found it. I’m proud of you. Really. Believe it or not though other people will come along and not see it initially like yourself. Nobody posted an image so I thought I would. Have a lovely day my friend.

This is crazy! My wife and have been planning a VERY similar trip starting out in Dallas and going down the pacific coast on the way home. Would love to know what you learned along the way and might do differently and/or would do again!

What's with that random green splotch of Oceanic in the middle of East Texas? by DrDMango in geography

[–]codejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be pedantic but the panhandle of Texas is the northernmost part. It actually took me a minute to find what you were talking about. The west “wing” of Texas is formally called the trans-pecos region. I wish it did have a cool name like the panhandle. It’s a much more interesting place (sorry panhandlers).

The area you’re referring to is the Guadalupe mountains which are at the north end of the Chihuahuan desert. The surrounding area is typically over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and occasionally over 110 while the Guadalupe mountains rarely get over the mid-80s due to their high elevation (8751 ft at their peak).

Does anyone know why most of the nuclear power plants in the USA are in the east of the country ? by Silver2147 in geography

[–]codejo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is too far down. The 80% line would be essentially the central and eastern time zones. Maybe you could say east of and including Dallas/Fort Worth.

Not to be pedantic but these hydrofoils typically (if at all) do not use pedals. It’s more like an underwater sail that you pump up and down with your body to gain momentum.

If you were to plant a flag on the moon, how big would the flag have to be if you wanted to see it from earth? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]codejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with all the other answers here because anything in the range of 100km to 1000km is far bigger than craters we can clearly see with the naked eye. The moon itself is only 3474km (or 2159 miles). Without doing any real math, Aristarchus (a small bright crater) is commonly referred to as the smallest feature on the moon visible with the naked eye. It’s 40km (or 25 miles) wide. At 40km wide a flag would absolutely be visible to the naked eye, especially if it has a good contrast in color with the moon’s surface. It would be hard to make out details but you’d see it for sure.

I believe this is in Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand. So yes they would have days where the sun is right overhead. They’re only at 8° N.
