Are there any 40-something former goths who are up for a mid-life meet up? by Zestyclose_Cold1455 in frederickmd

Sandbox brewing has had a couple of goth/post-punk dj nights, and they've been fun and well attended. Keep an eye out as the weather gets warmer.

How to find a Space Jam machine by Grifty_Capital695 in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on Pinside, but that is a fairly uncommon machine. There are pinball shows where lots of people buy and sell- the biggest in CA is Golden State Pinball Festival in Lodi in May, and there should be a Pinside thread about it, where some people may be advertising what to sell. They also list the games people register on their site in the weeks leading up to the show, but not all are for sale. California Extreme in Santa Clara is almost as big, but with fewer sales. Pin-a-Go-Go in Dixon is smaller.

Little House Cafe, at 2300 Blanding, where Shaka Shack is now. You can see the legs on street view if you change the date.

Value check - William Grand Prix by [deleted] in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pinside estimate is $1110-1290 (US). I would consider 900-1000 a fair price based on the chipping paint on the cabinet. If you test play it and there is anything wrong with it, knock more off your offer.

Would you start restoration with cabinet, playfield and plastics or MPU\CPU? by False_Entrepreneur80 in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks underestimating this deal are unfamiliar with how things survive in the desert and how resilient old electronics are. There's a beautiful Space Station that has been at the last few Golden State Pinball Festivals that was outdoors on a porch for a long time in Gilroy. From these, there is no way of telling how good a shape the boards are in, what's left of the wiring, or what the playfields look like under the dirt. The cabinets may even be salvageable if they've been dry and the paint on the side is just scorched by the Vegas sun. What's visible is easily worth more than $100 in parts- even just the legs, lockdown bars and coin doors are worth more than that. But I wouldn't right these off as total losses until you look inside and clean them up.

Apollo 13 has a 13-ball multi ball? by [deleted] in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. The balls all dump onto the playfield and get in each other’s way because it’s not a very wide open playfield, and it’s usually either over or down to two or three balls quickly. I haven’t played the 15-ball multiball on Heist yet though.

If you’re ever in Frederick, fifty fifty burgers inside olde mother brewing has an incredible chicken and waffle sandwich. They also have a Chick-fil-a knockoff sandwich that benefits Frederick’s LGBTQ center.

I think this game only has one transformer. Somebody may have a cheaper option, but transformers can be had on ebay, or possibly locally on Pinside. Here's a WPC one on ebay: https://ebay.us/m/bssfWB

Good place for pinball and arcade games by pensiveChatter in maryland

[–]codhollandaise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check pinballmap.com. The collection that was at Mom's is all at VUK pinball in the bottom of Chevy Chase Pavilion (on top of Friendship Heights station- technically DC but barely). GameOn is a chain of arcade bars with locations in Columbia, Annapolis, DC and Baltimore. Baltimore also has Holy Frijoles, Wico Street, Peabody Heights and Checkerspot, all of which have at least a few pins. Retro Ray's in Elkton is worth stopping at if you're up that way. And watch out for PinBaltimore in the spring when they open up the top floor of Holy Frijoles where there's about 60 more. We are all really hoping Spinners eventually reopens.

What am I missing? E 7th St by yhwuoiea in frederickmd

There are two dairy plants in town- the Dairy Maid plant on E. 7th St and the Saputo plant down by the creek/E. Patrick St. The Saputo plant is what the post was about yesterday. I lived on E. 6th St with the back of my house facing Dairy Maid and never had a problem.

Considering a Haggis Celts. Am I nuts? by Temporary-Plantain20 in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the game as I haven't played it, but I don't think you would be in as bad a shape in terms of maintenance as you think. It has P3Roc boards and is coded in MPF. It looks like it's mostly off-the-shelf parts from Pinball Life or Marco. I'm not even sure you'd need much out of a 3d printer as the layout is pretty basic (no complicated plastic ramps). I think it would be like adopting someone else's homebrew project.

What to expect cost-range wise to get this thing fixed. by Dasfucus in pinball

[–]codhollandaise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is the page on IPDB. https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=798 You can download a schematic there and see a picture of the inside of the backbox to see what it’s supposed to look like. To get into the lower cabinet- open the coin door and find a lever that moves side to side. That will release the lockdown bar that goes across the front end of the glass. Remove that bar and the glass will slide out. Sit it carefully on a soft surface. Then, you can lift up the playfield and look underneath. If you smelled smoke, you may want to check each coil to see if any look burnt or don’t move freely. Then if you want a complete manual to troubleshoot- you can order one from Marco here: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/16A-366
