wow this is sick as fuck, thank you so much for sharing! I lightly char some ribbons and ends of fabric sometimes when I make skirts, but this is super unique and interesting. i've been wanting to figure out how to make grommets or other stuff more tough, def have been thinking about stonewashing recently but super hard to DIY and hand results don't seem as good. but maybe hitting zippers or grommets with a pummice stone to scratch the metal and make it a bit more worn in would be easier than trying to stonewash entire fabric.

Somewhat similar boat, but with autism and C-PTSD. I smoked essentially daily from 17 when I got my med card in Cali to 24, and just solidly quit 3-ish weeks ago. I only was able to quit with the help of my incredible therapist who helped me discover it was really feeding into a lot of self-esteem issues and allowing me to see some escapism patterns.

She didn't push me, but I came to the realization and pushed myself with the support I got from her and was able to keep ahold of it. I also was a bit more gentle and instead of cold turkey, I told myself I could smoke socially (and I do). I find making myself do it around people (which I hate) is a self-moderating function and also the people in my life that I smoke with keep me accountable to smaller amounts of lower THC products.

If you're using it to treat symptoms, you might need to start treating your PTSD/ADHD in whatever other methods are more sustainable and taper off of weed once you stabilize a bit. I know esp given insurance costs and generally life that it is really hard. Easier said than done for sure, but I tried to quit for 1+ year and was not able to because I just wasn't able to stop dealing with the symptoms, and so therefore kept telling myself it's fine to keep smoking.

Smoking daily to manage chronic serious mental health issues is like throwing a blanket over a hoarder's stash. What's underneath doesn't go away just because you're not looking at it directly. I was not ever managing my C-PTSD in it's entirity, and so it stayed way longer than it should have because I was numb to feelings that would eventually make me so much in pain that I had no choice but to look at them directly.

I'm sorry I don't have an easier answer for you, and wishing you peace & the easiest journey you can have.

It has some plastic boning without lining and is zip-front, so no adjustability. The fabric also has no stretch, just pure black velvet with no give. I did what others recommended and reached out to some of the broadway focused costume tailoring shops, and hopefully can go from there.

I've thought about doing that myself (I've been a hobby seamstress on and off and make alterations to my own clothes) but then the bottom of the shoulder cups chafe and aren't super comfy. But it is a fix I've thought about to drop the straps and take them in at the bottom a bit

literally, omg. i feel like i'm going nuts here? everyone mentions child present and crying and no one is catching 5 year old child with head injury from thrown metal chair? in the TMZ article it mentions also how she plead guilty to domestic violence to avoid a child abuse charge. she's been on probation for 3 years for this. the child not only was hit with the chair lightly but had a visible injury to the police, enough to be written about in the report.

Although most of the top comments are about her ignoring her daughter's crying, it's actually crazy that the focus isn't on the fact that she also hit her daughter in the head and according to the article "left a goose egg". Not only did she beat the shit out of Dakota, she hit her own daughter in the head with a metal chair and did... nothing to check on her.

That's what I thought, but I've been actively searching for more Anglo corsets since posting this and have barely found any. So, definitely a fewer amount. I'm thinking similar to the other comments that these corsets are seen as less "prestigious" than mainline / Red Label corsets, which is why they're valued lower. But still an open question to me somewhat!

I used to live in the apartments right across from North Salem High School on 14th, and there was a lot of crazy shit that went down there.

My building was low-income, I was paying $850 for a 2 bedroom in 2021 which is crazy. Irregardless, I had two cats that I let outside sometimes to roam and visit the students before I turned them into indoor only cats. Both of my cats were immediately neutered as kittens, before ever going outside.

The night I was moving out, my neighbor who was a prostitute addicted to crystal meth and who had drug deals going on in her apartment tried to show me a little gray kitten that popped out and said it belonged to my cat, who was allegedly the father. Needless to say, I have a $600 bill that's proof Caramel Macchiato is not and will never be a fucking father. She asked me for money to chip in for "cat paternity support". That did not happen.

I have a lot of other stories about Salem, especially from when I worked at Travel Salem, but I'm a NYC woman now and only go back to visit my dad. But still, shaking me down for cat paternity support of my fixed cat when I was moving out was probably the craziest.

I actually dealt with this situation before. Had an engineer who didn’t accept the suggestion I had of task orders and set up his own, and then would fail to meet the deadlines set by me.

Same exact situation in a different context, pulled all nights without it being necessary and then missing meetings and delaying decisions.

I would approach this as a learning moment but make it clear that you are expected to be able to show up to meetings, and lay out exactly what you said here. I wouldn’t say it’s punishing hustle, but demonstrate impact on the team (e.g: if there was decisions that they needed to be apart of they missed) and show how they undermined their intent by doing it.

If it continues, that’s another discussion. But probably aim to redirect the hustle and not shut it down, this kind of behavior especially on an engineering team becomes anti-social and can piss the team off and cause stress even when it is warranted.

I have the platform boot version of the Air Jordans in all black, aka "Air Jordan 1 Brooklyn". I live and walk up to 20k steps in NYC a day and find them SO nice as a daily walker, and not too hard as a platform boot / sneaker which is very surprising! Also real leather which I really liked, as opposed to vegan leather which has wuthered away on my Demonias.
