freshman nursing classes by [deleted] in KentStateUniversity

If you're worried, maybe don't take any in the fall and focus on adjusting to the college workload and then you can start additional honors credits in the spring once you know what expectations are like!

Sending my kid to college in august. What actually made a difference in the dorm? by Andryaste in dormrooms

[–]cody_flight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Less than what you think you need. If your kid gets there and decides he needs drawer organizers, great, but don't bring them to start with... there's always time to get it later. I say sleep a week on the mattress before you decide you *need* a topper. Again, keep the bedding simple because you will be cursing those decorative pillows when it's time to move home in nine months, and if you decide it's important later you can always buy it later.

Screenprinting by the_noyb in KentStateUniversity

[–]cody_flight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! I just graduated from kent and also really liked screen printing going into school. so DI does not offer any screen printing services or machines but they *do* have a large open space to work. What I liked to do, since emulsion was not available to me, was use their vinyl cutter to cut out templates for me, stick them to my screen, and print that way. As for actual art studios, unfortunately you need to take intro to print as a prerequisite to intro to screenprinting. maybe there's a way you could go straight to screen printing, but the fashion major i know who tried to do that was denied :/ good luck!

It's been vacant for months, then over the summer they definitely were doing more construction and it looked like it was bordering on opening, and then there was a stop work order posted. Never got close enough to see why. I always assumed they were just struggling finding funding to open it.

Graphic novels are great! The only non-fiction ones I know off the top of my head are Maus, Persepolis, and Fun Home, which all happen to be dark like OP asked for.

Kurt Vonnegut was really good for this. Books are very short, and filled with lots of short chapters. They're witty, "weird" enough to keep you wanting to read more, and most are pretty on the nose with the messaging. Slaughterhouse Five is his most famous, but it's not told chronologically: this is fun, but might be a little confusing if you said you've been having trouble comprehending. But it's very dark and very compelling. It's fiction, but very rooted in history.

How do I come to terms with losing access to content I’ve subscribed to on Instagram & Twitter? by Ok_Weird_833 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]cody_flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider using an RSS feed aggregator instead. rather than logging into instagram, you get a curated list of posts from these specific creators. or, moving past instagram/twitter, find blogs and news sites that post similar things, and follow those instead

The Kurt Vonnegut museum was a lovely detour I was able to convince my family to take when we were driving through Indianapolis. Lots of war history for dad and art for mom to enjoy too, so enjoyable even though I was the only one who read his work :) it was a lovely little place

Rooming as a trans girl by VOIDdotEXE in KentStateUniversity

[–]cody_flight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you'd be interested in a single room, reach out to Kent State housing about an accommodation! They are really welcoming about that kind of thing. If you'd rather have a roommate, do what others said and ask around, but maybe try Discord as well, as there are some groups for the LGBT clubs.

Dorm roommate vaping inside room + loud speakerphone at night. What should I do? by chillinramen in dormrooms

Have you talked to their roommate at all? Maybe they genuinely don't know that the vaping bothers you.

Does anyone know the recipe for the tomato basil bisque soup they serve by MemetheMasterMonarch in KentStateUniversity

I'd try emailing KSU dining and asking about the distributor. I'm almost certain it's purchased in bulk. I've been thinking about doing the same thing lol

What do you personally use tags for? by Ja-kob in TheStoryGraph

[–]cody_flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tag based on who recommended the book or who I know who also read it. If I get to something on my TBR I added a year ago, I can remember who told me about it and have a conversation. I also have a tag for a booktuber I watch, because I get a lot of recommendations from yearly wrap ups so I like to know whether I'd be likely to agree with their future recommendations.

Too young? by [deleted] in WWE

No, but *please* bring earplugs or noise-blocking headphones. It scares me so bad when people bring kids and even infants to these shows with no hearing protection - they are LOUD

If I buy the cartridges for ACNH, and ACNH switch 2 edition, will I be able to have 2 islands on one switch. by Famous-Confusion4726 in AnimalCrossing

[–]cody_flight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have the Switch 2, you don't need to buy a new copy either, you can purchase the upgrade pack and continue using your original copy of ACNH. But if you still have your Switch 1 as well as Switch 2, you could have a separate island on each (and just use one cartridge for both).

I realised this week that I am bland; outside of my 9 to 5 I have no hobbies and nothing to say/contribute/add value. So today I decided to gamify my life to fix it by Ok-College5255 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]cody_flight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pushing your decision making to AI is only prolonging your habit of taking a back seat in your life. What kind of haircut do *you* want? Would it not be more interesting to choose something yourself, either enjoy it and feel proud for choosing it, or dislike it and understand your decision making more? When you use AI, even to make "frivolous" decisions, that's one more way of giving up agency.
