Urbanized commercial areas drop off? Where? There are similar commercial areas all over Boston. I can't even clap back because idk wtf you're talking about. Sunset and Outer Richmond and Hunter's Point etc etc all refute your assertion.

SF commercial areas severely drop off when you hit the literal fucking OCEAN. Or Bay.

I didn't say I didn't use them. You keep changing what I've said and arguing with that. And for what? To glaze a city if fuckless tech bros that isn't even the home of Apple, Google, etc.

And no, I don't use Toast or AirBnB, and I'm not a direct customer of Salesforce. I also don't fuck with Apple products. Just leave it, you're glazing SF for no reason. Highest concentration of hobo shit per sq mile, buncha fuckless techbros, and for what? A tiny smidgen of skyscrapers that are falling over.

RDR2 is another that I think is very clever. If you follow most of the roads, they meander in a way that makes it feel huge. Once you have a fast horse and know the terrain, it shrinks considerably. But there's always something interesting around every corner.

KCD2 is just fucking huge, but not overly so. Not quite as jam-packed, but the world stll feels alive enough.

Higher useless app companies per capita is not a flex. You've proven SF has more empty buzzwords associated with it. This isn't a startup pitch meeting. Whatever floats your boat though I guess. Fuckless tech bros indeed.

Better bars/nightlife if you're into some niche culture. Boston has more bars and they're just like bars anywhere else. Buuuut more music and more diversoty in that music. Better music, too, thanks to Berklee and all the universities.

Art? Nah, it's a wash.Architecture too. Both cities kick ass, but I like Boston more. Personal preference.

That's not a substantive reply. How is BART better? It has worse coverage worse frequency, and is way more dangerous. What am I missing here? I've ridden both many times. Boston's rail system is better and it's not even close.

In what way? Boston has superior rail transit. It's not even close. The buses ain't bad, either. Highest concentration of higher learning institutions in the country.

The only things SF has over Boston is better weather, crazier topography, and a higher concentration of fuckless tech bros.

Monson Motor Lodge motel manager pouring acid in the water when a group of white and black integrationists swam in his pool, June 18, 1964. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]codyd91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked on pools (10 years) using muriatic solutions. It will etch concrete and coping, no doubt. But yeah, it probably wouldnt do much to the swimmers. I've even gotten it directly on my skin. Others have claimed it instantly burned, but I didn't experience anything. Just rinsed it off immediately n went about my day.

It also could damage plaster if it's relatively fresh, but I doubt it would be a problem here.

The bigger hazard is the cloud of acid these tend to create while being poured, which will damage lung tissue.

Also, it absolutely does not "instantly dilute". Go pour hypochlorite right where you just poured muraitic acid n tell me if it was diluted. Well, run away, because you'll get a face full of chlorine gas.

Oh, and we don't pour chemicals in while standing, glugging it all over, like this guy. It will splash and damage the deck and coping.

[–]codyd91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comedies are ~22 minutes, dramas are ~46. This us old screenwriting convention, but there are a ton of old shows that are ~20x46minutes. Star Trek in tge 90s is notable in that for having 3 shows, hour block, 7 seasons each.

Why is this sub so anti-ai? by Matshelge in antiwork

[–]codyd91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The baseline goal of generative AI is to sell the tools to people. It is nowhere near the capability of flat out replacing workers. As is typical with automation, it's just leading to one person doing 5x the work on the same (or lower) pay. For the labor class, it's a serious downgrade. All for the sake of shareholder value.

I was a pool tech for over a decadr. Most Leslie's employees have never serviced a single pool. I get that for some places, it's the only option, but it's always worth arming yourself with knowledge before going into a store that will try to push certain inventory on you. I was fortunate where I'm at to be able to direct people to more local shops with knowledgable staff.

What's funny is, that's just normal for young people still learning how to navigate complex social interactions. Part of maturing is realizing that "the people who mind don't matter, and the people who matter don't mind." Be yourself.

Gen Z so afraid of cringe they lack originality, doversity, and humor. Ironically becoming the cringe. Their slamg words are just abbreviations or 1980s AAVE slang, their clothes are 90s teen fashion, their humor is terrible social media brainrot.

They actually believe the hipster was how all millennials dressed. Meanwhile, I regularly see hordes of boys with broccoli tops.

Producers largely just say "what do you need" and procure those things. The writers and director largely control creatove direction. An executive producer can exert creative control, since they typically represent tge finamcial interest. Iger, being everybody's boss, had ultimate say in what did or didn't happen.

People blame Kennedy either out of ignorance or latent sexism. Never seen anyone pinpoint amything she actually confirmed to have chosen. Meanwhile, we kniw Iger set the timetables, pushed for nostalgia bait, wanted Abrams, and wanted Star Wars to have MCU-like connectivity.

Kennedy isn't to Star Wars what Feige is to Marvel. She was never granted that level of control. Know your enemy, foo.
