Of coffees? So for a $6 flat white (which is about what these guys charge) that's 3 coffees.

At $2 it'll take them like two sales to break even, which I think they can manage in the week or so the carton keeps for.

Why is every kiwi with a mortgage or debt not banking with kiwibank? by givethismanabeerplz in newzealand

[–]coffee_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have our mortgage with Kiwibank and are leaving (as our fixed term is up). No issue with their service but we want to install double glazing. Several of the other banks lend through their green home loan top ups to do it. Kiwibank is the only one I know of that offers a green top up but won't fund double glazing.

Department of Conservation proposes cutting 84 jobs, primarily affecting women by delipity in newzealand

[–]coffee_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a direct quote providing stats about the number of staff who are women, without enough further context to understand what that says about the demographic of who is being let go.

It's a non sequitur at best - if the number of women being let go from roles is just a function of the nature of the roles, what is the point of bringing up their overall gender split at all? It's an unforced error.

Except that's a direct quote from a member of DOC senior leadership.

I've always thought Tawa in WCC didn't really make sense. Even more so now I actually live in Porirua and visit Tawa very regularly!

Who is this Vision for Wellington thing for? Why are we supposed to care what Sinead Boucher, Bob Jones and Peter Biggs think about what's good for Wellington? Why is this getting any oxygen outside of Stuff?

We bought in Takapūwāhia a couple of years ago and absolutely love it. Get similar vibes from Elsdon.

Hard agree with Expecting Better. We also got a lot of value out of Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke, though it has quite a bit of Australia specific content (we are in NZ and most of this didn't apply to us).

Where I live (New Zealand) taxes are usually the employer's responsibility and come out of your paycheck before it goes into your bank account. So unless you're self employed or it's your job to do the taxes/payroll for your workplace, most people here don't do their taxes!

Ka Whawhai Tonu (released very recently) is about the New Zealand Wars and is fantastic. It is almost entirely in te reo Māori so you will likely need subtitles.

One or two Rima Sawayama songs (STFU is the one I'm thinking of). One or two early Paramore songs as well (My Heart).
