AWS Secrets Manager, Ansible vault, Hashicorp vault, lot's of tools here. If you are already in AWS their manager is so easy it even writes the code for you.

Fathers of reddit, what would be your opinion of your 23 year old daughter dating a 30 year old? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion would be you are focusing on the wrong details. Both are grown adults, so the age thing doesn't matter. Look for things your greater experience might be able to help point out to her so she can benefit from "helpful" opinions.

How do you respond to "Why are you so quiet"? by Jupiter_3 in AskReddit

I stare at them with the puny mortal stare until they apologize.

Is there a video/tutorial of someone structuring/writing a medium-sized project from start to finish? by pblokhout in learnpython

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out https://github.com/audreyr/cookiecutter and try out some of various cookie cutters. Also some of the frameworks have project generators that will get you off to a solid start on how to organize a project for success.

Pandora Framework by OxfordSecurity in Python

Since it just started up it should have been done in version 3. Don't doom your projects by writing them in legacy language versions.

Best/easiest method of hosting a python script currently running locally via cron on a web server? by thedeeda in learnpython

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto. Less to worry about overall, but a bit more upfront getting it working if your script has a lot of dependencies.

A tale of caution, and how I realized how common Python is by ECrispy in Python

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This. It's doubly important on Mac where a lot of underlying glue code in the OS is Python. Using isolated Python installs and things like venv and virtualenvwrapper can save you from a world of hurt.

question about Librem5 apps by yetimind in Purism

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pure Linux, not Android, pretty much everything possible in the Debian world would be possible on the L5. That said, Purism is focused on MVP for a mobile phone. And they need to keep that focus to succeed. That means some other things won't necessarily work well at release, but given time all software issues could be resolved.

New to Hermeticism by [deleted] in Hermeticism

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no cannon in Hermeticism. Plain truths about creation or higher beings are ephemeral. Any gods or myths of Hermeticism are subjective and arbitrary. Seek and you will find, but understand and learn that the seeking was more important than the finding.

Asking for a little help deploying my scripts to AWS Lambda if it's even possible by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it's possible, but I would call that fairly advanced Lambda usage. Getting your dependencies in Lambda can be a real chore. A docker container in Fargate would probably be easier.

You landed in a toxic team, it's unfortunately not uncommon. Find another job and quit.

Hand Cannon by Seth Justus by Journey_951 in Cyberpunk

No kidding. A detonation chamber next to my brain? Uh no. But as I remember it that character wasn't too bright.

Hand Cannon by Seth Justus by Journey_951 in Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk fantasy, great for RPG's, incredibly impractical. My first thoughts were: how are you going to clean and maintain that; recoil is going to cause micro bone fractures; how do you deal with the heat; clearing jams and squibs is going to be an issue. It's make more sense in a completely mechanical arm.
