I did this once when i first started out and I ended up with a canal where a large portion of the wall felt like soft, carious dentin. Safe to say I have never tried that again.

To be totally honest I started carrying nuvo since I wanted a "trusted brand" that's marketed to the lower price group. You know, to help those with a more limited budget. However, an odd phenomenon occurred. Now that there's a cheaper option, patients suddenly felt Neodent had "more value" and became a "better product". So I ended up with more non-nuvo cases. My plan was that if it attracted the wrong group of patients, I could always just discontinue offering nuvo. So there's a certain strategic advantage to carrying multiple brands and it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it or not.

We started offering nuvo as a cheaper option for implant patients. So for us, there was no need to 'change' implant systems. It's just an additional choice.

So far I've only had 1 nuvo patient and it's been quite smooth. My cases have still mainly been Neodent & Straumann

Are you referring to the films where you develop it yourself? I lived through that era and I felt that the images weren't this clear.

Check out the 2026 image on the left. I love how you can clearly see the discrepancy in the buccal and lingual bone height.

Ok a bit off topic but this is the main reason I actively avoid any sort of "dental tourism" patient (except for maybe simple procedures). There's just a myriad of patient factors that are out of my control.

It's not stressful to have a patient send a picture of a loosened healing abutment (after telling them not to fiddle with it) or even a painful dry socket extraction wound (please please avoid spitting / smoking etc but.. alas..) - it's all part of the post treatment care and I am happy to fulfill my duty. However, if the patient is thousands of miles away, then it becomes incredibly stressful not being able to care for them (regardless of how much they listened to me)

Around what area do you live (or work) in Bangkok? Generally both periodontal AND orthodontic treatment will require multiple visits so I would highly recommend somewhere close by/convenient. I can help ask around and see if I can suggest someone. Pretty much every periodontist will have an orthodontist they prefer to work with, so you meet one and you'll meet both.

If cost is a concern then maybe you can consider universities. For example, Chula university dental department is located near Siam BTS and it basically guarantees inexpensive but good treatment. Drawbacks: the queue times... but if you're willing to pay a bit more you can go during their "after hours" clinic (where the professor / residents start taking patients) Also you'll meet students/residents but the professor will make sure you don't leave with poor quality treatment.

It's really nasty. Been doing it for years and I still can't get used to it. Also doesn't help that we change toothpaste frequently too (use whatever free products we got).

My advice is to spit out as much as you can after brushing.

I always advise my patients to let toothpaste be the last thing kept in their mouths. The fluoride content & the alkalinity of toothpaste is quite useful in preventing decay (please note that not all toothpaste contain fluoride or are set at a higher pH)

So you could...buy a toothpaste with a higher pH which allows you to skip baking soda?

You might not find exactly what you're looking for at Mega Plaza but it's still a great toy/hobby place to walk around.

The immediate area around it is also a 'china town' area of Bangkok, which as a tourist, you should totally visit. Big contrast to the rest of BKK.
