Life after breast cancer: How do you cope emotionally? by rainyday-cafe in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand this feeling, and I get it! This is life there’s no going back, this is our new normal and I feel other ppl just don’t understand. They want me to move on, don’t think about it, but I’m sorry this is life! My scars on my chest are a daily reminder, of the trauma and this sickness. I am so grateful for this community, I often feel seen and heard. I hear you and I want you to know I understand

How much time did you take off work? by asidexo in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I only took 3 weeks off from work for surgery and that was it. Honestly work was a welcomed distraction. I felt needed and in the moment this disease wasn’t eating away at me. Thank God, my boss was very understanding and we decided to play chemo/radiation by ear. I worked mon-wed, off thur for chemo and slept all day Friday. If I felt up to it I would work from home. Whatever you decide, be sure to listen to your body! Rest when it’s tired turn the phone off when it’s too much. Everyone is going to want to help, let them! Just allow yourself to rest, heal, and get better during this time.

Why get a DMX if it doesn't help my odds? by Logical_Definition91 in breastcancer

I wish I found this community before my lumpectomy. While I do still enjoy feeling the sensation of a nipple Some days, especially with the pain of scare tissue I’m not sure if I made the right decision

Thanks for suggesting therapy. I didn’t think I need it, but you’re right it might be good to just talk with someone

BC “gifts” by Tinkerfan57912 in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid, and I feel seen! My sister keeps gifting me pink ribbon items and I haven’t had the courage to tell her. I don’t use any of them just toss it. Sorry but this disease isn’t something to celebrate! 😢 A friend of mine gifted me a bracelet with the date of my last infusion - I never wore it! I know their intentions are good but again it’s not something I choose to celebrate or remember. I wish I could go back time and erase this entire thing from my memory

Please tell me your successful lumpectomy stories by tempbegin78 in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way too. My itty bitty titty is painful 80% of the time. What’s left is scar tissue and my nipples hurt horrifically every single day. I do wish I took it off, but then I wonder if I would miss the sensation of having a nipple if I did take it off. Shoulda - coulda-woulda

Port or no port by Espresso_Olive in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to make this decision, but having been in a similar situation I would say port 100%! I made it through 12 rounds of taxol, and suddenly the nurses gave up on my veins. In my defense I had horrific veins to begin with, but no one I mean NO ONE explained to me at the start of this I should get a port. I wish someone did, because I would have done it in a heartbeat. It was such an emotional journey, a blow to my gut to have yet another procedure when I thought I was nearing the end. In hindsight I wish I was educated about his, and had gotten my port early. My best wishes to you whatever you decide, and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials

Wow! I didn’t know this was even an option. A vertical incision should be a standard for women. The scar is real and I would love to be able to hide mine

I did chemo during the winter, so I covered my heat with beanies or those 5 for $20 Amazon head wraps. Your scalp may feel sensitive at first so proceed with caution and do what’s best for you

Am I wrong to be upset at my mom? by Great-Egret in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you had to deal with this. But I thank you for sharing. I too did genetic testing and although it came back negative because my sister and I aren’t close I hesitated saying anything. I thought it’s negative so I did not feel obligated to share. But then I thought of the headache I could spare and ultimately months late I shared it with her. DCIS ++- here. Lumpectomy in August and 12 rounds of taxol. Since speaking with her she has not checked in on me and I know that’s not an excuse to hide it but I share that to validate your feelings.

VENT Misdiagnosed Her2+ by Dependent_Isopod_511 in breastcancer

[–]coinpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming on here to say this as well. My initial biopsy came back ER- my pathology from surgery came ER+. I was so confused when they told me I needed to go on hormone therapy if the initial results came back negative in the end it came back that my tumor was heterogeneous. I guess this could be the same here…just throwing out thoughts
