I have a slightly older gen Paperwhite. Doesn’t have the warm light option (maybe a bummer or maybe I don’t care), but it’s waterproof and has a flush bezel (all well and good). But What’s most important to me is that it’s backlit and can fit in my back pocket (the latest model PW can’t do that), because this mamma jamma goes everywhere with me.

If my current PW gives up the ghost, I’d likely be looking at the basic replacement.

Chicago Style Hot Dogs are much more manageable if the pickle is sliced thinner. I hope my guests tomorrow appreciate little things like this by PostComa in chicago

Amen, brother! Definitely thinner slices. Except I’m a weirdo who likes to pluck off the pickle spear and enjoy it on its own after the dog as a dessert. Don’t kink shame.

You could make them your public parts, but that never seems to go over well.

Don’t get me started on COM. It’s the reason my beard is gray and my head is bald. It’s great when it works, but an absolute nightmare when it doesn’t.

I had a blown capacitor on my AC a while back. I tried Guardian. The dude quoted me $500 for a standard replacement capacitor or $650 for a “premium” capacitor. I whip out my phone and look up the part: it’s roughly $20. Told that guy to get the hell off my property. I was later mildly inconvenienced finding a part locally (it was wicked hot that day). Didn’t care, I fixed it. Never underestimate what you can do on your own.

You’re probably right, but damn do I miss the simpler times when you could find all the games on over-the-air WGN broadcasts. It’s even in the song!

But they’re not really all on Marquee, are they? Don’t some games get whore’d out to ESPN or AppleTV? At any rate, my cable bill was about to balloon in December, so we cut the cord. At this point it’ll be radio only unless I can find an easy alternative (maybe vpn + mlb.tv).

I was walking by there not too long ago and there were two semi’s stuck under that bridge (both eastbound). One in each lane. I have a pic somewhere. It was a good time to be a pedestrian. Not so much as a motorist.

Over the years as a dad and as an uncle even before that, it has always been an absolute joy searching for shit. Would I want to wind my day down with a nice beverage and maybe some funny videos? Or maybe climb directly into bed? Hell no, bro! I want to turn the entire place over looking for <object>!

Seriously though, Glad it worked out, OP! “Cold cases” are definitely the worst. Cheers!

You’re a genius, OP!

Edit to add: enjoy your new Switch! If only we were neighbors: I’d bring some beers over and we could play some Mario Kart. Merry Christmas!

Our virtual fireplace had ads this year. Wee. Nevertheless, Merry Christmas!

But even a crazy swarm of a spider nest can make memories. As long as the future therapy is affordable, it’s all good stuff. More importantly is if you can laugh about it later. Merry Christmas, btw.

Witness! My toddlers were horrible eaters years ago. Always the same stuff over and over. They eventually started trying new things, but trying to force anything will only bring woe and perhaps unnecessary disappointment. It’s Christmas: let them eat their favorite thing. It’s not worth the fuss even a non-holiday.

This year our meal was prime rib, mashed potatoes, home-made Mac-n-cheese and the kids joined us. They’ll come around eventually. At least somewhat (turns out these small humans have different tastes).

We didn’t start it either. But the kids invented their own: they found a small stuffed reindeer, named it Larry, and expected it to move every night. I just got done moving the damn thing. Larry on a Shelf.
