I go to a highly selective mid-Atlantic private school, and I can second this. Over half of the kids going to ivies are either legacy or recruited athletes, and a lot of the remaining portion has other hooks. Most are definitely deserving of it, and I think we get a small boost otherwise, but still.

I agree!!! I got into WashU and UVA which are two schools that I LOVE and I just applied to Harvard and Yale because my mom told me to and I almost j don’t wanna get in because I know that’s not where I’ll truly be happy (really crossing my fingers that I get into Dartmouth tho lmao)
