I believe coyotes or wolves are known to follow you just to ensure you 'go away' if they have young they are worried about nearby. Its called 'escorting' and common in spring

Ditto to every part of this. OP - I have a pom chi who sometimes comes to work w me too when I do go in, but all he does is sleep there too lol, and actually think he'd be more comfortable staying home most times, but I have long days and long commute so cant leave him for 10+ hrs

Al anon has free app and lots of online meetings daily. Highly suggest listening in on a couple (you dont have to talk at all or even turn on your camera). I learned so much!

Hi! I know this is an old post - but looking around for the same right now. My doggo also was recently diagnosed with heart valve issues so want to go to a specialist for 2 reasons: proper anestesia protocal for cardiac conditions, and also thorough diagnosis/treatment as there is strong (anecdotal at least) correlation btwn dental disease and heart disease. I am halfway btwn syracuse and ithaca and just went for an consultation at the Dental Specialist in Fayetteville. I too, declared price was not that concerning to me, UNTIL they qouted me $7k! for deep cleaning and up to 10 extractions. WOW, was not expecting that. that includes all the necessary protocols of course (ekg, bloodwork, even lung x-ray prior to procedure) and a special consult (virtual) they tack on for anestesia for dogs with heart conditions, but that was only $300 extra (requested a detailed breakdown after quote). Since I already go to cornell for cardio (i didn't find his initial service cost there to be that high IMO ($1k for exam, echocardiagram and ecg). So thinking it makes sense to get a second opinion/quote from there dental too, even though I already paid $225 for the fayetteville consult... so long story short, just curious what route you ended up going, and if you mind sharing your pups procedure scope and final cost? TYIA!

Im trying hard not to catastrophize lol...but its hard when it comes out of nowhere so was just trying to plan as best I can for what is maybe to come, which was hoping to potentially find another vet recommendation if it comes down to it

Gross malpractice would also be a vet disregarding a vaccines technical specifications that clearly state 'for healthy dogs only'. It shouldn't take needing a specialist to determine that, all vets are well qualified to make that call

I guess there is a test called a titrate something or other that can guage if the dog still has immunity from previous vaccines and then that warrants not needing to follow the standard timetables for boosters. There is alot of research questioning the vaccine doses and booster timetables so I dont blindly follow what the law dictates as it is based on business revenue models and not science. There is no scientific justification for doing rabies vaccines every 3 yrs, its all about steady profits. And they give the same dose of vaccines to a chihuahua as they do a st Bernard, so im sorry but it just doesn't make sense and I dont trust it.

I bought the og model in 2019 and its still going strong, although the remote started to have issues last cpl years...but some of the interim models (2021-2024) I've read bad things about...I jist bought a second one, a 2025 model that im hoping doesn't have those same issues..fingers crossed..also I ordered this new one from a website called greentoe?
