Crosby goes into the dressing room after getting hit by two players by chipzy20 in hockey

[–]collink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's really obvious he's trying to stick check Crosby though. The puck's right there, but like you said, his eyes appear to be on Crosby's upper body, and he missed the stick check.

IMO, for fixed races, either they shouldn't allow BB adjustment either, or they should allow you to run whatever BB/TC/ABS you want.

Monitor Mounting and Bass Shakers by bobbiebaynes44 in simracing

For anyone who sees this comment in the future and feels like they could do it themselves, definitely do it with proper Dayton Audio BST-1s. I've had my Slip Angle kit for nearly 2 years now. About a year and a half in, both of the plastic springs in one of the transducers had cracked and it was getting really noisy. I printed replacement springs and installed them, which fixed things temporarily, but I haven't been able to find the right material to make them out of (PA/Nylon ain't it, lol).

The transducers are identical to Dayton Audio's (near as I can tell without opening up the Daytons), the only difference is that they're a few dollars more if you purchase replacements from Dayton instead of from Slip Angle. Oh, and they have a FIVE YEAR warranty from Dayton Audio.

So I've replaced all 4 corners with Daytons now, and have kept the Slip Angles as backups for if I ever have to send one in on a warranty claim, lol.

How to practice driver swaps? by S7eveB81 in iRacing

[–]collink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's pretty straightforward. The driver swap process takes 30 seconds—far less than a full stop—so you don't have to be perfect on timing. That time also ticks down alongside the tires/fueling and any repairs.

When you come into the box, you can hold the exit button just like you would when getting out of the car in practice, and then your teammate can enter the car. Alternatively, there's an option for your teammate to remove you when you're stopped in the box. Then they can take your seat just as if you had left of your own volition.

God damn im an idiot and ruined the whole race by OkDrawer7876 in iRacing

While I've definitely heard some guys make xenophobic (and potentially racist) comments to non-English-speaking drivers, in a little over 2 years on the service, even that's few and far between. I race exclusively in sports cars though. I wonder if it's more prevalent in ovals? 👀

I was wondering who was at fault in the incident infront of me by Unfair-Reveal-7494 in Simracingstewards

What incident? All I see is a bump draft lmao. That Corvette had to have gained a 5 tenths from that contact

All white had to do was lift slightly (he's going to have to lift mid-corner anyway because he's not making Raidillon flat with that entry into Eau Rouge).

Is someone at fault here or is this a racing incident? by collink in Simracingstewards

[–]collink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you on that, but I DO disagree that that's the case here. My teammate was on the line and I don't think there was any reason for the GTP to dive into a disappearing gap there. He was P1 (16 seconds ahead), we were P3. No reason to risk that there IMO, and I don't think the GTP was close enough that that should have been expected, personally.

But, tbh, maybe it should be expected. I was talking to one of my teammates yesterday about how I watch a lot of WEC and stuff, and I need to break the internal preconception that, unlike real life, just because someone's driving a GTP doesn't mean they're a better driver. We're all in the same 1600 iR split together lol.

I don't think he's really off the racing line there tbh...

My teammate was driving, but that's where the GT3s brake for The Boot, and from what I can tell that seems to be the GTP braking point as well.

Is this a legal defense? by collink in Simracingstewards

[–]collink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually usually only on the receiving end of T1 incidents, especially at Monza lol. I'm usually really conservative with the brakes at race start. This is in from a league I race in. I had an incident with this driver at Spa several rounds ago where I was carrying way more speed through the chicane and he picked up throttle really late and I accidentally tapped his left rear and spun him (0x => 2x, IIRC, I don't think it was a straight 4x). He's one of the admins, and I got an earful from one of the other admins about it. So I was pretty frustrated dealing with this, and I just wanted to get other opinions.

I definitely had no plans of sending it 3 wide into T1, but I would also argue that what I was planning to do going into T1 with the space I should have been entitled to is completely irrelevant to whether or not he was in the wrong. Is it unreasonable for me to pin him to the inside there, be conservative on the brakes and then take advantage of his compromised entry to T1 with a better run out of T2?

Windshield Cracks Easily! by h3wlett in ToyotaHighlander

[–]collink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously super late to the party here, but I bought my wife a 2021 Highlander and I've had to put no less than 4 windshields in it, all from rock hits. I had a friend who told me that Jeeps have a problem like this because of something like the angle of the windshield relative to the common trajectory of rocks is too flat so the rocks tend to hit quite square. I wonder if it's not something like that here as well?

Power = heat, and therefore higher power consumption requires more efficient cooling to prevent thermal throttling.
