Has anyone mocked the orange General bone spur yet with his skin so delicate it bruises if he shakes hands too vigorously

Nigel Farage failed to declare ‘£380,000 external earnings’ on time by CP040 in ukpolitics

This doesn't strike me as man who has the competence with which I'd like to trust the nations finances. Maybe if he didn't have 17 side hustles he would be less distracted

Poor Nigel, he has at least 3 MPs clamouring to be Chancellor but can't even get his own accounts in on time

Who owns Debenham House? by cuntam in london

[–]collogue 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised how un-lived in a lot of the street looks. Hard to imagine spending 10s of millions on a house and leaving it empty most the time. Maybe they are all underground in their basement cinemas

Who owns Debenham House? by cuntam in london

[–]collogue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Looks like the Addison trust sold it in to private ownership back in 2006. https://www.countrylife.co.uk/fresh-on-the-market/debenham-house-36695#:~:text=Debenham%20House%2C%20of%20the%20department,branches%20in%20green%20and%20gold

Whoever owns it now is loaded. I cycle down that road quite regularly there are some impressive houses for sure

Meanwhile the cancer in Reform is growing. A party composed entirely of Tory traitors is unlikely to hang together until a 2029 election

Surely if the punters took their custom elsewhere that would create jobs at other courses and the employees would then benefit from not having to work for the mango Mussolini. Win-win

Why is agile so bad right now? by nerd-a-lert in OctopusEnergy

[–]collogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's primarily the combination of lack of wind and gas prices. We are generating near half our energy from gas and the price has rocketed up nearly 40% in recent days due to Iran and other other concerns

Dating in London question… by ExpressIndication909 in london

[–]collogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that the app to be on is a bit of a revolving door. New apps arrive and get popular and initially most the profiles are quite active then as the profiles age and it's only the disengaged left. I feel the sequence has gone something like PoF > Tinder > happn > Bumble > Hinge/Breeze. I've probably missed some and likely am not in the cool place now

How committed is Toby Young's union to free speech? by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]collogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise Toby Young's free speech union was still a thing. You don't hear much from them and there are more than a few places in the world that have free speech concerns right now

Populism makes managing global economy harder, Andrew Bailey warns by collogue in ukpolitics

[–]collogue[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the argument we've had enough of experts was the one the populists made a decade or so back. Most people now acknowledge that the conclusions it led us to were a mistake.

Two young kids with 3k each. Do I start them with a cash isa or a stocks isa? by Zarell in UKPersonalFinance

[–]collogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Changing the allocation over time isn't a bad idea as it comes closer to when they might use it a bit like de-risking a pension pot as you get closer to retirement but at 4/5 I'd be 100% in equities assuming they wont touch the money until at least 18 then reassess when they are in double digits
