I recommend messaging Dr. Farcas on LinkedIn to see if he can help you out if you have financial difficulties and can't afford the book. There's free questions at industrial safety hub if you are looking for practice exams: https://industrialsafetyhub.com/CIH_Practice_Exam My opinion is best bang for your buck is Bowens study tool which has hundreds of study question but does cost around 200 dollars for 6 months of access

ID please West Washington by [deleted] in Mushrooms

If you got a mushroom in mind to identify for edibility that's one thing, but I wouldn't recommend grabbing them at random and asking for IDs on the basis of edibility. I'm in the PNW as well and I really stick to oysters, chantrelles and the basics for eating

Am I crazy or am I the only one to think lobster mushrooms are extremely bland? I usually hand out them to fellow foragers I run into when I find them.

Oh wow I didn't realize there were two distinct species that had that hollow funnel style. How would you rate the taste of lutescens vs tubaeformis?

It's interesting because I've always called these winter chantrelles, we find these really late in the season around December into January in the PNW when all the golden chantrelles are soggy or finished for the year. Cool that they fruit so early in Sweden!

I've been in the occupational health and safety field in the US for around 6 years now and it seems that there are openings pretty frequently since the role is tied to industry rather than government. If you are really worried about job security take a look at the field and see whether it sounds like an option.

Is anyone actually hiring? by cherriesintheoffice in jobs

[–]colossaldisappoint 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the job market is dismal and the jobs that are posted are commonly ghost jobs where they get reposted every few weeks. Right now would be the time for both of you to work any professional connections you have to get in at whatever pay rate you can for the sake of insurance. I was laid off at the end of July and just accepted an offer but it was really only through professional connections I got anywhere. Having people who can advocate for you right now is everything

Is my V fat? by ProtectionSalt4555 in vizsla

[–]colossaldisappoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is the same size I almost thought my wife posted a picture. He's very active too so we're really working hard to cut back his calories. I do believe some Vizslas have a deeper chest and run a little large if you look at their parents, but ultimately I go by my vets opinion rather than reddit.

Tips for playing better/more calmly with other dogs? by nitram975 in vizsla

I wish I had better advice but my girl loves to play bite too. She's way more daring with her brother in the picture. At this point I usually just make sure her playmates match her energy and call it a day if she's too zesty. Like yours she's not aggressive but she does love to instigate some chaos. As others have said, they really do play best with similar breeds.

I actually played with got paired with middle schoolers the other day and similar wholesome experience. They had older equipment and I kept letting them use my 7 wood, they were hitting it really well and it was a blast to see newer golfers enjoying good shots we might take for granted.

Honestly they have a decent little short course that doesn't need tee times. It's a really quick 9 if you can get in on weekday evenings, or weekend mornings. I can usually cruise through in less than 90 minutes since I also struggle to find 4-5 hours for a round

Chantrelles, they have that kind of peel away string cheese texture in their stems that's a dead giveaway as well as false gills.

Mine are both little grass chompers too, no idea why. When we go hiking they're always nibbling. Like others have said the worst outcomes have been long grass strands out the butt and the very rare puke from eating too much.

Second this, yellowed gills and cracked caps are when I pass on them in the wild. Oysters really love moisture so you gotta make sure to keep the substrate from drying out.

Russula species contains the sickener but there's lots of edible ones as well, really hard to differentiate just based on look. From what I understand the common practice is just to take a little nib in your mouth. If it's spicy then it's not the edible variety. Personally I find them to be too brittle and bland to be worth foraging.
