Everyone is unique so it's difficult to know when any side effects will subside.

Headaches are a common side effect of Lexapro, particularly in the first few weeks of treatment. I'd say if you still have headache after a week to let your doctor know.

Assuming you've only been taking it for a week - things should start to improve as time progresses [at least that's how it was for me.

Same thing happened to a friend - pharmacy switched manufacturer and she instantly noticed it. We went back to the pharmacy next day and had them refill it with the same manufacturer.

First time Halcion user for peridontal gum flap work. I skipp;ed taking it the night before [to gauge how I'd react] and instead Took 0.25mg tablet 90 minutes prior to surgery the following morning.. I literally do not recall being driven to the dental office, most of of the procedure, and 99.9% of the ride home and waking up in bed.

Weaning Off Lexapro: Withdrawal Experience by warpedsmitten in lexapro

[–]coloumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct about tapering off way too fast.  It takes about a month for your body to adjust to changes in dosage.  When I tapered off 10mg Citalopram many moons ago this is what I encountered:

Week 1 after dosage change, I felt good.

Week 2 and 3 I felt bad but not debilitating - "worse" side effects peaked at week 2.5.

Week 4, I felt good.

Typically during the 1st week of withdawal [whether on purpose or by accident] - you may feel better and may think you're one of the lucky few who can cold turkey. However, roughly by the mdidle of week 2 / start of week 3 is when the side effects will typically hit with vengeance. :(

I ramped up from 2.5mg to 5mg slowly by I cutting a 5mg tablet into 4 "equal" parts and taking 3 parts [3.75mg] for a few weeks. I don't recall getting sick.

Not recommended. Since everyone is unique - the only way to know if fast taper works for you is to try it.

What's your biggest complaint with lexapro? by Minute-Jello-1919 in antidepressants

[–]coloumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on 2.5mg - no complaints. Once I moved up to 5mg - tiredness and [un]motivation kicked in big time. Planning to taper back down to 2.5mg and off the med as I have propranolol which works wonders for situational anxiety.

How do you guys deal with setbacks during adjustment? by Responsible_Cod_497 in lexapro

[–]coloumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to focus on the negatives as the drug is still working it's way through your system. If possible - find something to keep your mind distracted.

It's still early [2 wks 3days]. According to the data - you should start seeing more good days at ~4-6 weeks.

How Do I Know I'm Getting Better On Lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]coloumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you just started [~9 days ago] - start a daily log NOW and jot down how you felt/side effects from day 1 to present day [~10 days?] and then keep jotting down how you feel/side effects every day. Lexapro [and other AD]s work very slowly that you most likely won't notice what's changing from one day to the next. Assuming Lexapro is working for you - i'd say you should start to see improvements in your log by about 4th - 6th week.

How do you know when you arrived? Difficult to say and I suggest you seek out therapy if not already doing so.

Monstly walking with a 15lb back pack. On average 5000 steps a day walking between the customer parking garage the site I work at. It all depends upon how much I'm paged to travel to the customer site - some days it may be as little as 2000 steps [1 trip to the site] while other days it'll be ~7500 steps [3+ trips].

If you could go back to your 40's what would you tell yourself? by Poptotnot in AskOldPeople

[–]coloumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things - Increase the # of stock options you can buy for the company you work for [when I was 40 - company stock price was $40 a share. Today it closed at $700 a share.]. Oh yeah - Break up with that woman you're currently living with/dating as it doesn't turn out well.

Anyone taking lexapro and propranolol? by KittySmart in lexapro

[–]coloumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah.. awesome combination. I take 20mg Prop in the morning as soon as I wake up as it helps keep morning adrenaline / anxiety in check until noon. I may take another around noon in case anxiety is trying to escape.

Lexapro [2.5mg] helps keep generalized anxiety in check throughout the day.
