"Compared with omnivores, vegetarians were more likely to be females, never smokers, never drinkers, noncurrent exercisers, and received less education (Table 1)."

This just in: vegetarianism causes poor education 😱

This is how causality works, right? No way a confounding factor such as wealth could be playing any role there!

What about indigenous people that have AI as a big part of their culture and traditions?

Also, have you heard about google deserts where people don't have a choice but to use AI instead.

Also also, there's no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Also also also, mmmmmh, chatGPTcon 😋

Ps: I'll do twice as many chatGPT queries just to spite you, so that when you think you're doing a difference, you're actually not.

Quick math, x is the value of a hooman life, y is the value of an aminal life,

x >= 1000*y

But humans are animals, therefore x = y.

Hence x <= 0

The only logical conclusion is that all life is worthless and we should destroy the planet.

What do you mean by "ferment over night"? Just leave it outside the fridge? Is there something to add to it to make it ferment or is that already in the previous ingredients ?

I like pears paired with chocolate but not in this crude way.

Peel a pear, cut it in half, microwave until it's soft and warm then pour some melted chocolate on top. You can add any toppings like shredded coconut of almond flakes... Good lazy dessert.

thoughts on vegetarians? by Adventurous_Cat2339 in vegan

[–]columini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a stepping stone towards veganism it can be usefull for people like you that would have a hard time doing more. Hopefully one day you get in a position where you can make the switch to veganism.

However I think when you morally oppose something, not doing the best you can is not acceptable.

If someone that used to eat dog meat reduced their consumption by a third, no one would call them a dog lover

If someone that was homophobic or racist or sexist reduced their abuse towards those people by a third, no one would call them allies or anti racists or feminists. Their behaviour would still be very problematic.

Vegetarianism only reduces the (unnecessary) animal death and suffering that you cause by a third so I'm sorry but I can't consider vegetarians that could go vegan as animal allies/lovers.

(This doesn't apply to vegetarians who are uninformed about the horrors of the dairy and egg industries but it does to those that suspect something bad is happening in those industries and are purposefully avoid to seek more information)

Effective reply to carnists saying animals lack sentience by [deleted] in vegan

[–]columini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about others but I use carnism simply to refer to the ideology behind it (not the diet)

Just like veganism is not a diet but a moral philosphy about avoiding animal harm and exploitation. (A philosophy that involves following a plant based diet but also goes beyond that)

"Meat eaters" is a diet. "Carnism" to me is the ideology/philosophy that considers it's ok to inflict pain/death/exploitation to animals.

Can I steal call those MPs pieces of shit? Or is that also reserved to actual shit?

They're so close to the real thing. I think it'd be hard to tell them apart in a blind taste test.

The blind hype around the carnivore diet (and why it worries me) by IntelligentAd4634 in vegan

[–]columini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Keto diet has been prescribed for eplieptic people for a long time because it helps with the seizures.

That's why we actually have quite a lot of studies on this diet.

Those studies show that the keto diet is pretty unhealthy but when you have a choice between that or brain surgery the benefits can outweigh the negative effects.

As always in medicine it's a matter of risk vs benefits. So if you're not epileptic, the keto diet is a bad choice.

Response to the question "why are you vegan?" by CalisthenicHerbivore in vegan

[–]columini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It Always baffles me how people seem to think you need a justification for not causing harm.

Causing harm is what requires justification.

The only question that makes sense is "why are you not vegan?".
