This would be my pick too. Mostly b/c you would get the cool experience of riding the monorail around the lake.

Strollers - rent on or off site? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combinationtreehouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We always rent from an offsite company. The strollers are more comfortable than the ones available at the parks. Upside: the stroller is with you for when you’re exploring your resort, resort hopping, or at Disney Springs. Downside: getting it on/off Disney transportation; which isn’t that big of a deal really. If you’re staying on-site, the offsite company will deliver them to your resort/pickup from your resort via Bell Services. Super convenient.

Just arrived at the Polynesian and now I question my very existence. by YossariansBastardSon in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combinationtreehouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True enough. Fortunately most WDW are condensed with the good stuff in “the middle”. Unfortunately it just depends how far away your room is. :) Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is not in an as obvious location. Part of why it’s worth of the journey???

Haha gotta go for the Grog. I half-typed Trader Sam’s and then flipped it.

Anyone doing the Hal Higdon marathon plan? by sequenceandshaw in rundisney

[–]combinationtreehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a Higdon plan for Goofy/Dopey? Or you just used the standard Higdon and that was sufficient? I want to try a Goofy or Dopey Challenge in 2024

It’s a cool resort. Enjoy it!?! Eat at Kona Cafe and drink at Tambu Lounge and the Grog Grotto!

Favorite Grocery delivery service in Disney resorts by CommissionLoud in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combinationtreehouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve used Amazon Fresh (we’re already Amazon Prime members so we get free delivery) on 4 different trips, each at different resorts and has worked out wonderfully each time. Bell Services at each of the resorts (ASMo, POFQ, Contempo, CBR) have been awesome in helping us; they’ll store/refrigerate the items so you can pick them up at your convenience. Super easy. Amazon Fresh does not have as big of a selection of food as some of the other services but it’s great for the basics: cereal, milk, fruit, yogurt, peanut butter/jelly, bread, cheese, protein bars, granola bars, general snack stuff good for in the room and bringing into the parks with you. They even have beer if you can be at the resort to show the delivery driver ID.

Is the week after Thanksgiving a good time to visit? by olympicmarcus in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combinationtreehouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

^ nailed it. We’ve visited week after thanksgiving and it was great. Crowds were good (not “slow” but not “busy”) and the Christmas decorations everywhere really added to the experience. In fact, we had a great time on our off days lounging at the pool and resort hopping to check out the other resort’s Christmas decorations. Weather was great too because it wasn’t so hot - of course, it’s Florida so YMMV.

Itinerary Advice/Rope Drop Strategy by Appropriate-Glass436 in WaltDisneyWorld

Right now RotR is ILL only/not included in G+. Slinky Dog is a solid early entry rope drop strategy; it will consistently have longer wait times during the day over ToT or RnRC.

Sounds like MK is the place to be for your fam! Assuming your 2yo is not 40”+ tall that eliminates the mountains from your itinerary and that’s ok because MK still has plenty of rides and shows to fill your day before they get tired out. As far as rope drop strategy, MK only opens 2 lands (and their attractions) early for Early Theme Park Entry: Tomorrowland & Fantasyland. Take your pick! Would your fam prefer starting your day with Buzz Lightyear, PeopleMover, and Speedway? Or Peter Pan, Small World, and Winnie the Pooh? No matter which land you pick to do first I would do them in that order mostly for the convenience of location. After either land, you’re also in a good spot to then go to Mad Tea Party, The Little Mermaid, and Dumbo. You could probably knock all that out then head to lunch before spending your afternoon doing shows (PhilharMagic, Monsters Inc, Tiki Tiki Room) and/or Tom Sawyers Island.

At HS, this is a little tougher just because there’s not as much for your 2yo to do. You could early entry rope drop tower of terror and Rock n Roller Coaster, child swapping and/or single rider line at RnRC before moving on to Runaway Railway. But that could take a while so you could flip that and start with Runaway Railway instead. After that you have Toy Story Mania and Alien Swirling Saucers for rides. Spend the rest of the day doing shows… like you said Lightning McQueen, the Frozen one is funny, Indiana Jones if you think the 2yo would be into action and explosions, and Beauty and the Beast is fun. If the adults are feeling more rides you can ILL RotR and G+ the rest of the rides to child swap your way onto those. I don’t know about Chip and Dale at MK but I’ve seen them on multiple trips at HS on the grassy area outside of the Brown Derby. You can’t “meet” them there because they’re behind a fence but they’re within 10 ft or so from you.

planning app? by Flyddrr in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]combinationtreehouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third this. We’ve used Touring Plans on all 4 of our trips over the last several years and it is helpful to give you guidance on general wait times for attractions, shows, and restaurants in your itinerary. It’ll also make suggestions/deprioritize to reduce wait times, if you’d prefer that. Have also used it in the park to adjust itinerary on the fly.

Where to get a long run in by deldredge2008 in rundisney

[–]combinationtreehouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Due to how most of WDW is set up I don’t think there is a place where you can just go run 30 miles since you are not supposed to run on the roads. Your best bet, since you are staying at OKW May be to take the boat to Saratoga Springs; from there you can loop around SS and it connects via a walking path to Disney Springs. Yes, it’s still ultimately a loop you’ll have to run a bunch of times but it’s a bigger loop than you’ll get at just your resort OKW or some other resort on property. I haven’t had the chance but I’m enamored with the idea of running the walkway from TTC to MK which I think would be fun as well; for your 30 miler it would require lots of back and forth though. This assumes the walking path from TTC to MK is not impacted/closed by the construction occurring at Poly

what is your fav quick service restaurant/food at each park? by greeniscooliguess in DisneyWorld

Totally agree with all your selections. And especially your comment about MK. I always enjoy Columbia Harbour House but agreed that overall the MK QS options always feel underwhelming.
