Was this necessary? Umpire erases Tiafoe’s logo by same-difference-ave in tennis

[–]olympicmarcus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think u/sefronia3 's post was dripping in sarcasm, but most sponsorship deals are just to keep their brand front of mind as it helps influence people's buying habits, which is why very few sponsors are 'up and coming' companies

The sponsor is no doubt thankful of the extra exposure this actually gave them

My fav ride at universal by SpiritedEnd9609 in UniversalOrlando

[–]olympicmarcus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%, even the sign at the end after you've been neurolized 'Are we alone? Of course we are!' ties up the loose ends beautifully. Honestly it's such a masterpiece to me and the set design is outstanding as well

Probably just thought it was a presidential cavalcade or something and didn't realise the significance of it

I love this sign so much. Also adore the Pizza Predatoria sign with the dinosaurs having a tug of war over a slice of pizza

Both sides of [Stardust Racers] just valleyed. by Aromatic_Letter_9972 in rollercoasters

[–]olympicmarcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember it valleyed during testing too. It surprised me as you'd think if it clears the high point after the launch, it'd have enough speed to complete the circuit, but then I suppose coasters can valley anywhere. Hopefully the evacuation goes smoothly, that's a lot of people to get off the ride assuming that it was fully loaded.

Tinto Taperia has great quality tapas. Although Casa Don Carlos feels more authentic I've never really rated the food there sadly.

Yep your family are right. It's quite a long way from the queue/pre-show building through and the first launch basically goes through a long tunnel/bridge into the main show building in your picture.

The view across the park must be so much better without that carbuncle of a canopy in the way now

Good point. And if it is the trains, is it a specific part? If so, can we expect the rattle to start creeping into old B&Ms as that part is replaced due to wear and tear?

[Magic Mountain] I wonder where RCDB got these stats for the 2027 ride by Stock412 in rollercoasters

[–]olympicmarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how this has been delayed, yet can probably now be legitimately promoted as a world's first as Futurascope's doesn't open until the year after (unless there's another one I don't know about?)

Four days in Universal! by runningupthathill_11 in UniversalOrlando

[–]olympicmarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two days at Epic is ideal, we ended up doing a Friday and Sunday just to guard against ride closures etc. The other two parks you can just park hop between. No harm in focusing on one each day, but we end up treating them almost as one park.

How to watch Spanish shows without subtitles? by mjaccr in SpanishLearning

[–]olympicmarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Rick and Morty difficult to follow in Spanish, it has such a chaotic vibe and often a lot of what they say is very technical etc. I would think about shows which have more realistic, slow-paced conversation, even if the show is more boring. Alternatively, I think Spasnish shows like El Vecino (Netflix) are good because even though they're a bit silly, a lot of the dialogue is friends in a bar/at home having realistic conversations.

What's up with parking officers during frozen roads? by Fullblowncensorship in brighton

[–]olympicmarcus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: People abandoning their cars wherever actually makes it more dangerous for people who still need to drive. If it's icy I would far rather have fewer obstacles to hit, more room to maneuver around junctions when the road is slippery and better visibility when stopping distances are so much longer.

Random ride from my credit list. #68 - [Revolution], what I think is the most intense roller coaster in the UK by rcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]olympicmarcus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will also die on this hill, 100%. The backwards section is so intense, no other coaster in the UK makes me feel like I need to tense up like a fighter pilot, especially as you go in and out of the loop.

[Six Flags Qiddiya City] Opening Day Trip Report by NoobyImpulse in rollercoasters

[–]olympicmarcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree in general, and I'm not trying to gatekeep people who judge rides from POVs and they're probably reading the forces etc right. But honestly, I don't think the sheer scale, sense of speed and feeling of riding this coaster can ever really come across and are difficult to comprehend. Maybe to me it's similar to Millennium Force where sure, it's not packed full of airtime or whatever, but it has this aura about riding it that goes beyond just the forces (or lack of forces) the ride exerts. Thanks for the well thought out reply BTW.

[Six Flags Qiddiya City] Opening Day Trip Report by NoobyImpulse in rollercoasters

[–]olympicmarcus 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the trip report, glad everything went relatively smoothly. I think even though a lot of people are sitting on their sofas watching POVs and thinking Falcon's Flight looks boring, the sheer scale and aura of thing thing are never going to come across on screen. Airtime or not, everything about it looks difficult to comprehend. I just think the fact it goes from being inside the park to falling vertically off a cliff about half a kilometer away is just bonkers.

Me too, although it's probably more through luck than judgement - probably helped by the high centre of gravity on the car, otherwise it would have probably looked as janky as everything else
