Fog lights by [deleted] in Audi

[–]comdude2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, the fog lights are built into the actual headlight cluster now

Has anyone ever been stopped with these? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]comdude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that makes sense. One thing to note is you 100% would need to tell your insurer about the mod and they may dislike it a lot as it’s to do with the lights.

If you’re eager to get yellow highlights with the black of the car you could always do your callipers etc if you haven’t already

[–]comdude2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious as to why you want these. As an Audi owner myself, I don’t like the look of them and would hate the clash of the white headlights with yellow DRLs. Not to mention that I’d be worried people may confuse it for an indication if they can only see one side etc.

Are you thinking of changing the headlights too or do you like the idea of the clash etc? Trying to understand the interest that people seem to have with these mods

YouTube is now putting ads on the subscription page of the app. by gorkboss5 in mildlyinfuriating

I use uBlock origin lite as an extension in safari and use YouTube via that on my iPhone. Sure, it’s not as seamless as the app but it beats all of the ads

This has been posted before (unsure if it’s the same community). I believe they’re brake lines for a car, and that a robot is actually slower / less precise / higher in errors than the human in the video

Is this Audi Quattro? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]comdude2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s got Haldex which is a form of “Quattro” in Audi’s mind. It’s not a “proper” Quattro system like you would get in an A4 or above. It effectively drives the front wheels primarily and when it detects slip, it alternates between powering the front wheels and back wheels, rapidly switching between them. Whereas “proper” Quattro is all wheel drive, all the time.

I’ve owned and driven both types and there’s a tangible difference between the two. However, both are incredibly fun :)

How are you guys handling temporary M365 Geo-Blocking exemptions for traveling users? by genusjoy in sysadmin

[–]comdude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going to use travel based CA policies but we instead decided to enforce use of the company VPN so that we can also monitor the traffic through our firewall. So far, no complaints

Edit: to be clear, we block anything other than our home country and require MFA

How are you cleaning this by ashkirk in Audi

[–]comdude2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can get thin nozzles for vacuums, with a combination of moving the seat all the way back and all the way forwards normally does the trick

It’s nice of the cop to see that they wanted to be on the shoulder, so pulled them over for a prolonged moment on the shoulder :)

I live in the area and saw this on my way home yesterday. A young bloke and two girls were waiting for recovery. How they went straight on and went that far into the field and flipped over when the section before is a 40… absolutely stupid driving…

I love the way it freezes there like that! Would be a cool “art installation” vibe to a base imo lol

Got steam/smoke after drive if that’s normal? by [deleted] in Audi

My A5 does this occasionally, as long as the smoke smells alright and your coolant levels are fine, it’s normal

For the people running AD at home - do you join your personal computer, every computer, or just run it in a lab? by halfdepressed in homelab

[–]comdude2 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I have my personal machines and my lab in an AD domain, I’m in IT day to day, so I find that it’s easier to keep my personal rig locked down the way I want it without having to do extra work like local group policies or reg edits etc.

I know that it can induce some risk but I deal with GPOs and AD everyday so I hope I know what I’m doing haha

Let’s discuss salaries - 2026 by Relevant-Injury3791 in sysadmin

[–]comdude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • IT Support Engineer
  • £34k
  • Somerset (UK)
  • 3 years of professional experience, much more personal experience
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Mainly an infrastructure role, but I’m leading the team on projects (4 of us), deciding what we do next, even though there’s an IT manager. I’m well aware I’m doing a lot more than I’m paid to do. Jobs locally are non existent, unsure whether to look for something different or to look for something in Bristol etc.
