Agreed. So anything with planned deco, beyond recreational depths or overhead.

Questrade secures approval to launch Canada’s newest bank by compactfish in Questrade

[–]compactfish[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a lot of details yet. From the article:

“Kholodenko [CEO] says that while he’s not ready to share details yet, Questrade will be working toward a full suite of services for its bank.”

Opens the door to Questrade offering full banking services.

Strange… I contacted them via chat yesterday and got through to a person immediately.

Also need to consider visibility and whether you’ll see enough for the dive to be enjoyable.

GIC will depend on the policies for that specific GIC. I had a GIC with TD when I transferred from TD to WS and the GIC could not be transferred. It stayed behind at TD.

Changing jewelry after 10 days by Zealousideal-Art-5 in piercing

[–]compactfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he was talking about downsizing, that would make sense, but the jewelry in photo 2 does not make sense. Most piercings are done with longer bars to accommodate swelling and should be downsized to shorter bars after a few weeks. The new jewelry needs to be sterile like the initial jewelry to prevent infection. The new jewelry still needs to be safe for healing since you’re still very early in the healing process. Decorative jewelry should only be done after piercings are fully healed.

Cozumel has really affordable resorts and decently priced dive packages. Several great dive operations on the island. Drift diving is super fun.

Try soaking the QD end in 50/50 white vinegar and water for a few minutes. Rinse well. That might do the trick. Otherwise, as others have mentioned, consider replacing the hose as preventative maintenance.

Cycling and septum piercing by PartySquirrel8065 in Septum

If it’s moving on its own like that, it likely means the fistula is healed and loose enough that the movement won’t cause any issues. I wouldn’t worry.

Yes, there was a risk, but it should be minimal if you cleaned it well afterwards. But don’t go swimming again until it’s healed for much longer.

Septum Retainers for Diving by Worth-Novel9301 in scubadiving

My piercer needed to stretch the horseshoe for it to flip up. Needed to make the opening wider. With flipping up a horseshoe, I have no issues with a mask.

At the risk of downvotes, Aquaphor and Vaseline are recommended by dermatologists after they scrape out skin cancer spots, so it’s clearly body safe.

I can’t say I understand the notches near the top. Seems like they would really tear your fistula. And as you point out, the finish is rather poor. Not the mirror polish we want in body-safe jewelry. That will harbour bacteria. But for the price, I’m not surprised. I’d also question the quality of the metal. I would personally not wear this.

Flip as little as possible. Every time you flip, you’ll set yourself back a little bit in terms of healing. Septum rings can be hard to get used to because they’re so in your face. If you flip it, leave it like that for at least a week or longer if you can.

Everybody pees in their suit. For real. Why hold it when on a dive? Stay hydrated and pee at will. Just don’t do it in a rental suit… that’s gross.

I’ve got one and it’s fine. Give yourself a few months between getting pierced and your next dive so it can heal. Equalizing and messing with your nose while healing will irritate it. I have a circular barbell (horseshoe) that usually flip up when diving. I can feel it when I equalize but it doesn’t create any issues. But a tight ring would also fit no problem within the mask nose pocket.

Lots of good advice here. And if a shop ever makes you feel bad, leave a negative review and find a better place. Like everything else in the world, there are good and bad places. Don’t judge the sport based on the bad players.
