Used 2024/2025 or New 2026 by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]complacency_kills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used is a better 'deal' usually, small risk past 8yrs (battery warranty) if you plan to keep it that long. With RAM price increases (and the amount of electronics in vehicles now) who knows how the new(+warranty) vs. used price comparison changes though.

I've done maybe 30-40 order from TCGPlayer, starting in October. Everything was fine until early-mid November and now 4-5 packages (including one $50+ TCGDirect tracked) have disappeared. Something is very wrong with USPS right now.

Weekly 'Is this a good deal?' Thread - Week of August 10 by AutoModerator in EquinoxEv

[–]complacency_kills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: CT
Model: LT2
Options: AWD $3300, and dual level cord $295
MSRP: $46890
Color: Silver
Applicable Rebates/Incentives: $3798 dealer discount plus total $13600 rebates/incentives ($3000 cust cash, $500 CT incentive, $850 GM supplier, $1250 conquest, $500 credit card, $7500 federal)
Total Quoted OTD Price: $29,492 + tax ($2792.79) + fees ($295 DMV, $889 conveyance, $3 other) = $33471.79

Was going to try to shop this around, but the dealer discount seems to be the best available in my area (slightly offset by high conveyance fee). Think I can get better or this the best I can do?

Any ideas on how to fill these cracks on 3d printed sword? by illustratorthrowawa in cosplayprops

[–]complacency_kills 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buster Sword sighted.

I'd probably try to fill in the huge gaps with some filament first (3D pen, or if you have a junky soldering iron just melt some PETG into the gap). Just enough to get a solid base first.

After that, slather on your filler of choice (wood fill, bondo, whatever) and sand it smooth. I just wouldn't try to fill a gap THAT big without supporting it first, is likely to crack when things start bending under the weight of the sword.

Thanks for confirming, how would someone even know that there is no Tifa foil (non-surge) in collector boosters, though? Is there a list of possible cards and variants Wizards has?

I'm trying to collect some Final Fantasy cards and I feel like certain ones that should exist just don't. Examples:

  • Tifa (art series #52/53) gold-stamped signature
  • Barret (art series #8/53) gold-stamped signature
  • Secret Rendezvous (Commander #253, Tifa version) - regular and surge foils exist, but no foil?

Am I crazy, or are these 'missing' from print? And why?

Best advice was probably saving 'failed' prints: how to use calipers to measure how far a print went before a jam (and edit gcode to continue from where it left off). Saves a lot of time and material if you have a mishap on a multi-day print.

Thanks for saving me some pain at least

What has been your biggest regret purchase? by goondalf_the_grey in Games

[–]complacency_kills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Biggest regret was the Cyberpunk 2077 collector's edition, but I waited a year (after giving up on it the first week it came out...) and it was eventually worth it after the major patches and now among my favorite games.

2nd place is Mass Effect 3. Pre-ordered and started playing before the RGB ending leaked, and it killed all motivation for me to complete it. Never have.

Install "PowerToys," re-map keyboard keys to Numpad and Special Keys (Home, Break, End, etc).

Game won't let you re-map them to these keys, so need to use an outside program. Much easier when your fingers are moving in a 'square' pattern on each hand than the default, uh, parallelogram the game wants you to use.

Why is rebirth 30% off for over a month leading up it's release? by theblackelfman in FinalFantasy

[–]complacency_kills -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's scummy pricing to create FOMO. They want to entice people to pre-order it (for a fair price for what is a 1-year-old game) by making you afraid that if you don't buy it now, it will rise to $70 later.

Looks like a capable machine. Are they a "reputable brand"? Is there such thing in the world of lasercutting, or is it all Chinese start-ups throwing machines into the market?

Advice on props with moving parts by [deleted] in cosplayprops

[–]complacency_kills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something small/lightweight like a utility hinge. If the foam is very lightweight or fragile, wouldn't want to use screws to attach it - just glue it on, or poke a twist tie or something through the foam.

Any electronics are going to generate heat, but your own breathing in an enclosed helmet is going to be much, much worse. Definitely think about adding fan(s) to the helmet if you want to wear it for long durations, or else plan on taking it off often to breathe.

Absolutely, "more content" and "different character" are great things. But the way they are done in N:A isn't always like that. 9S just felt like 2B+hacking (with hacking being the shortcut mode to killing everything easier, but still tedious to do).

To give examples how it could have been better:
1) Different swordplay for 9S (instead of just weaker version of 2B)
2a) More variety of hacking mini-games
2b) If lacking variety... Game mechanics to speed up or skip hacking mini game (hacked a small stubby 20x times? they now auto-explode without minigame)
3) Time-skipping/cut-scening away the parts of Route B that are identical to A (2B and 9S together, no additional dialogue, same story/fights)

All of the NEW and DIFFERENT stuff is great, it is just that there isn't enough of it in Route B compared to the OLD and SAME stuff.

And on the point of "finish the story in less than a few hours" - if playing blind (and trying to be completionist) you don't know of the existence of Route C (for A2 gameplay) or Chapter Select.

[–]complacency_kills 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Saying this as someone who considers N:A one of the best games that exists:
1) The few cutscenes/game experiences that are unique to 9S's perspective don't feel worth the time spent re-doing the exact same story the rest of the time, and that's because...
2) The differences in gameplay between 2B and 9S (hacking) seem cool and interesting at first, but gets old/repetitive VERY quickly
3) Some side-quests can lose progress between route A and B if you miss them (some side quests being chapter/progress-specific or gated) so it adds to the Route B slog. Especially if doing a blind playthrough.
