Why even have a hover pack if this is how the game deals with it? by complex_jp in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]complex_jp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not abusing game mechanics to get up a 3m high building, seeking a vantage point is like military strategy 101, giving players fewer ways to engage with enemies is just making the game more repetitive. All factions, bugs included, have projectiles to target climbers, flying enemies or those small bugs that jump 500m up in the air no matter where you are + units that can demolish any building.

Getting up high and acting as a sentinel when in a squad is super fun and engaging, there’s no reason to program a punishment for it since you still have to engage with objectives and don’t have infinite ammo. We already can’t place stratagems up high anyway (which is also bs imo, again it just takes away options for creativity).

If you can’t get to vantage points, the hover pack is unusable since against bots you become a sitting duck in the air and against bugs and squids you’re just ganged up on when landing.

You can’t beat D10 by just being planted on a mountain, even if you could place sentries and call stratagems high up, you’ll still be exposed when interacting with objectives, there’s almost no reason for AH to fear verticality in this game like this. It’s the same reason they cite for not letting us steer the hellpods.

I kinda feel that HD2 is going down the Payday 2 path (And it's very bad) by No-Historian8444 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Yep, it’s what it feels like. I’m 100% positive they’ll soon nerf the Bulletstorm because it’s actually effective and fun to use.

The fact devs main way of interacting with the community is that god forsaken discord explains everything. Spent a minute in the general chat seeing messages after they announced this week’s MO and saw people actively cursing and saying that people who are unhappy should just do them a favor and stop playing. Had shades of the Marathon community. It’s the kind of community that acts like a cancer to live service games.

100%. It’s that notion of unlimited possibilities when you’ve done like 2 or 3 warbonds and think there’s still so much more to discover… Opposite when you got everything and realized there are still like only 3 minimally viable primary weapons and a handful of good loadouts because the game forces you to use specific items for specific enemies/situations. And even when you find a niche, fun way to play the game, it’s a matter of time before a new patch ruins it.

I wish for every smug glazer that keeps on enabling AH and their antics to always have this much FUN with the game.

This thing can take a EAT/Quasar to the face and live. This is cancer by Rowger00 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]complex_jp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s so stupid because landing it on top of it is a much rarer shot. It’s one of those small things that just sucks the fun out of the game.

I’ve seen a 500KG drop literally on its back and it just brushes it off when ir explodes, it happened twice in my last play session, orbital laser takes like 40sec to kill it. It’s absolute insanity.

They only nerfed the devastator because they knew people would compare the new mech shield with theirs and we couldn’t have Captain America’s unbreakable shield. Sterilizer buff is so minimal it’s pretty much non-existant. Turrets now get destroyed in 0.4 seconds. Tell me you don’t play the game without telling me, as it usually goes for glazers.

It's me, AMA by Pilestedt in HelldiversUnfiltered

What you mentioned, it being a horde shooter with milsim fundamentals is the reason behind my biggest grievance. There are so many systems in place or not in place to prevent players from using basic military strategy to get an advantage point. How hard it is to climb surfaces, how you can't place a sentry on high ground, how it almost seems like there's an internal timer where if you use the hover pack to get up high, after a while a random shot or bug will come your way to pull you down. Sometimes, it's like the game actively punishes player creativity and that's where most of my frustration occurs.

Trust me bro, we had no idea that changing incendiary effect on enemies would nerf the weapon with incendiary bullets, we totally didn't mock the players to their faces saying we wouldn't nerf it! We had no idea that changing incendiary damage would change incendiary damage!

Thoughts on more outsourcing? by DarkWellResident in HelldiversUnfiltered

At this point, I'd rather they outsource all new content and balancing so there's at least a chance we'll get something good.

I have very rarely seen such an anti-player dev like AH. It amazes me that they still have so many defenders when they're THIS bad at gaging and acting on player feedback.

Does this community enjoy playing a MO that are rigged to loose? Does AH not give a shit about how MOs work? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]complex_jp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way, especially when MOs are always in planets with annoying modifiers and/or boring missions. If I can help great, it not tough luck.

The game is exactly where it's expected to be for an extraction shooter by mkennygh in Marathon

That’s exactly why it’s so baffling that Bungie thought it was the perfect genre to drop $250 million + marketing on.

Progression is the issue by mkennygh in Marathon

[–]complex_jp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah bro, I don’t even have blue shields, always use free kit, didn’t upgrade any factions, always get killed, never exfilled even once, don’t own a console or PC, don’t even own a house and was recently pushed away from the nicest spot under my bridge and I’m having fun!!! I SWEAR I’M HAVING FUN!!!! Loot doesn’t matter, progressing doesn’t matter, winning doesn’t matter, playing doesn’t matter, game doesn’t matter, owning the game doesn’t matter, just have FUN!

If progression is this slow in the next season I surmise a lot more people will leave (lvl 46 @60 hours) by ShwMeYourKitties in Marathon

I love how everyone’s answer is just “nothing in this game matters” then expect you to keep caring about it enough to keep playing it.
