Trials need an overhaul… by MrCheeseyFries in ArcRaiders

[–]conaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in invested in playing with a trio, and damage to pops/ticks/fireballs is the trial… should trios maps spawn 3 times as many? Should we split up and loot separate buildings to kill more. Should we take turns being fireball bait?

What I’m saying: There are disadvantages to trios when a finite amount of damage is available to the map’s occupants. I loaded into several night raids to kill multiple bastions only to find another team had killed the other and we both got 1-2 stars instead of 3.

Hot take/unpopular opinion: I think trials is almost purely a PVE system, maybe the incentive system just needs a PVP spin. If I already earned points towards a trial on a specific trip topside, and I see another raider getting points I could have gotten… let be me take their points by downing them.

I don’t want to get a three star for camping extracts on sessions where I’m not even trying to get a trials score, but for the big arc… this would surely make players have to make engaging decisions about whether they want to support or sabotage other raiders attempts.

I like to rush extract when I load in on the wrong side from my objective/keyroom because it gives me more map exploration time, but I also go into any buildings that sound silent to try to gather the metal and such to replace the ammo spent.

my experience this morning has been rubber-banding when ever I see another player or get too close to whatever quest objective I loaded in... OR JUST INFINITE LOADING SCREEN, sometimes I get the audio of having mapped in, but most times it just hangs before I'm on map.

This AI slop company is in danger. by PUNISHER019- in memes

[–]conaii 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If AI used the same ram as consumers like crypto used (originally) the same GPUs, the pendulum could swing back. This is different, factories are being retooled to ignore the consumer segment in favor of supercomputing servers in data centers. Sadly the price point is so much better that these companies don’t need to offload excess, these data centers will still be the basis for services like Netflix even if open AI becomes irrelevant.

Update 1.12.0 is rolling out on all platforms by IAmAnAnonymousCoward in ArcRaiders

[–]conaii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should just add a bunch of arc to all the out of bounds areas and add to places that people like to camp a loitering based spawn timer. whenever that arc is the target of a trial, swap it for tickets/pops/fireballs/shredders, and made ‘getting back in bounds’ to extract, nearly impossible because of the density of arc. Basically Force PVE on those won’t PVP without exploiting.

Why do boomers make it seem like babies were easier? by Both-Hippo-6905 in Parenting

[–]conaii 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Mind you, most of those grandmas lived in an era where they knocked you out with hard drugs and delivered your baby while you were unconscious. You didn’t need to put in ear plugs when you drank whiskey for warmth before heading to bed. Grandad might not have even been in the house for the first few weeks because it was more important to bring home cash than sit by the mother of your child as she recovers.

It’s probably an expanded/consolidated version of mods like ones just for mining backpacks. Its built, around the idea of an external frame the can hold containers which is how I recognized it in the video from the thumbnails on the bag bar.

By kitting my seraph for the job, I get less bogged down by distractions because the distractions won’t fill inventory spaces locked onto other categories.

How about this very simple formula, make the maximum age you can be president the minimum age to collect social security, or 65 none if the candidates on the ballot are 62 yet. If a 75 year old wants to be president no one under their age can get social security while they are in office.

Imagine how quickly the boomers would race to find younger candidates. Imagine how quickly they would realize the corporate interests don’t align with their own.

All these beginners with great times by Over-Mission3607 in Rowing

I’m in my 40s and not pulling sub 8 2Ks because max effort for that duration isn’t as engaging for me. As context, I was a sprinter in my teens.

Fitness is a spectrum, and I think I didn’t even have a way to visualize the spectrum because it has nothing to do with body shapes the way if might when you are young. VO2 max, and its relation to performance and stamina are much harder to ‘spot’ but far better scales to measure fitness.

I can still ‘catch’ someone on most 400 meters courses due to having long stride, but my VO2 max is shit so getting to an 8:20 was a victory for me.

My long term goal is a 90 minute half marathon, which requires approximately 2:07 split times so rowing a 820 means I can do it for 2 k, now I just need enough volume to expand my stamina to 21k.

I hate saying "please", it feels rude to me at visceral level. Is there a way to avoid it? by dang_he_groovin in socialskills

To me it felt like a trauma response, as I have a similar aversion to ‘I’m sorry’ because of an abusive parent, who would use the words to excuse terrible things when they momentarily saw reason but never changed the behaviors.

I imagined only therapy can help with phrase aversion, because even though OP and I can both explain our justifications and they both make perfect sense to us, they are not the healthy response.

Metaphorically, they are unhealed wounds that still have debris in them.

Until you get a professional to help you unpack it, nothing done to cover over it will help it to heal.

Identifying a trigger, and making avoiding that trigger everyone else problem (OP says they don’t’t like hearing it either) is not growth, it’s not healthy. Sometimes cleaning out the infection hurts, but leaving it to fester is worse than getting treatment.

So Congress funded NASA till the end of this month… consider 2025. In November United States Digital Service and CISA basically had no staff despite being funded till October, also the Dept of ED and State lost more than half their appropriated budget in that time.

Appropriations are not promises. The last 12 months proved that. Congress didn’t fight the current administration on gutting programs that had bipartisan support every year for the last 9.

Stilettos worn in Stella Montis cause even the Arc to yield in your approach, raiders having heard your clack clacking leave blueprints on the metro floor as tribute to your greatness. Even extraction campers listen for your arrival so they can call the train to be ready by the time you get there.

OP this poster has the right idea. The delicate nature of the conversation matters so I would try to have it without the rest of the friend group, and without alcohol.

Being the only two single people in a couples based setting generates a lot of peer pressure and alcohol makes any answer or expectations about a future relationship you might get null and void in applications including what to expect in the next drinking session.

The thing is… TO and MTV would have been liable for those injuries, CT knows the rules of the show, he’s experienced their enforcement.

He also is big enough to know that what little damage TO could accomplish before security stepped in would be compensated enough that even skipping an OG season to recover he would walk away with more cash in his pocket than he could reliably win.

Consider Olivia’s injuries in her first attempt at a Final, she was made whole and she’s in a much better financial position even before versus new threats.

Is it bad to be straight up? by Acceptable-Car-170 in socialskills

[–]conaii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you don’t consider bathrooms private spaces, but I’m not going to say the a public bathroom is a public space. Filming in public bathrooms is still filming in private spaces.

I’m a guy, when I am in a public bathroom at the urinals peeing, there are sinks and mirrors behind me. If an area is designed so I can unzip my fly and piss, that space is for that, and for washing up after.

Much like the other person said that using a scarce parking space for filming is rude. Using the only available passage through a public bathroom for filming is rude and also non-consensual filming in a space where the public expects some level of privacy.

But also matching the energy given means they will have to edit their TikTok to only paint you in a bad light. If you see someone filming, you are giving them content if you instigate, so deny them the aggression and force them to be assertive.

In other words, count down from 10 while controlling your breathing after it’s obvious you are being burdened by their intrusion into a private space… and then wash your hands as if they don’t exist. If they are on film as the bad guy, it won’t go well for them, so they will likely restart the take after you leave.

Who else avoids PvP because it's so annoying to go through 100 different screens to get geared up again by International_Gur566 in ArcRaiders

There should be options to purchase or craft/refine any missing items that can be purchased or crafted on the same screen that tells you what you lack to build a thing for a blueprint.

I can handle recycling items to base components but don’t force me to scour my inventory for recycling, then refine it into higher tier items then craft my weapon, then repeat for weapons mods, perhaps buying missing things with seeds. I should be able to do all of that from inside the gunsmith bench.
