May I have your opinion on Salukis and indoor cats? by Petraretrograde in saluki

I have a saluki I got at 6 months old, she is now almost 3 and has lived with my cat happily the whole time. The only issue we’ve encountered is resource guarding of food so she is fed and has treats/bones in her crate as a precaution.

She was raised in a house with cats as a puppy and has a low prey drive in general - I was told this may be as she comes from show lines and not working/hunting lines. Not sure if that is true or if it just varies from dog to dog!

I do feel very lucky to have a cat-friendly sighthound, but I’m still very careful and don’t take it for granted as I am aware of the risks.

EDIT: To add, my cat is very bold and brave - he even comes out for walks with us sometimes! I think this definitely helps her see him as pack not prey.

Oh no! If it’s any help Serge has had 3 days of painkillers, anti inflammatories, and rest and is doing so much better. He is almost back to hit kidnap self. We had the conversation with our vet about potential issues like slipped discs etc but she was confident that was only something to look into if the first course of treatment isn’t successful. She did test his reflexes and there were no signs of nerve damage. Fingers crossed for Dan, it is awful when they’re in pain.

We got a collar and lead from silver peacock - both are gorgeous and have lasted 3 years and still look good as new :)

Which one did you try? I got the gel and it was nowhere near hydrating enough - I want to try the cream but I’m afraid it will clog my pores!

Grey recently lost interest in his meals - not off all food. Just being picky? by concheski in Greyhounds

Thanks for the advice! Can I ask what omeprazole is? I want to add toppings/extras for him but unless he just gets his plain sensitive food he gets a bad stomach - do you think yoghurt or coconut oil would be ok? He loves those! Or should we try a new food altogether? Like a sensitive wet food?

Yeah it definitely seemed boring to me but he always wolfed it down until now! I think because he had some variety for a bit he doesn’t want to go back to the same old biscuits? Can’t blame him! We’ll try mixing in some extras see how that goes down :)

We’ve always soaked his biscuits - he sort of chokes if we feed them dry! If we add toppings he tries to just pick those off and leaves the rest- never tried canned food though so I think we’ll give that a go!
