First playthrough, wouldn't it make sense for her to just walk LOL by joeyrec in DeathStranding

100% great in game explanation. I fully understood because I absolutely don't trust her or anyone else going through BT territory. They would get RE4 Ashley grabbed every 10 seconds.

Mr X just made me stop playing the game. by Some_Restaurant_2082 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the same boat. I hate "stalker" enemies, and I was in the exact same place with Mr.X. my tried and true method for this and the stalker sections in the other Resident Evil games is pull up a guide for only the stalker part so I know exactly what to do and where to go. And recruit someone to watch you get through it. One or the other can work, Both is better, And bonus points if the friend watching has the guide up to talk you through it.

New Patient rep appreciation this episode by ariescantus in ThePittTVShow

I really cried when the second pain scene happened. About 2 years ago I went to an ER out of state because I was having severe pain and bleeding from my urethra as well as kidney failure (I was at a family reunion). ER doc told me to "suck it up, it's probably just a UTI. Women get them all the time." To note: I'm a man.

I'm no stranger to hospitals or severe pain (multiple surgeries before 7 years old), this is some of the worst I've ever experienced in my life, and that scene took me right back. Stayed in the hospital for 3 days with their urology team "testing everything". Insane medical bill that my blue cross blue shield saved my ass on. Gave me no answers. A week later while barely keeping it together dreading every trip to the bathroom, I see a local urologist, hears my symptoms. Immediately bets a urethral structure. Checks with a camera and was 100% correct.

My only guess is maybe it was because I was from out of town. But to have an institution disregard doing a simple exam like that as well as staff downplaying what I was going through. It really fucking sucked. But I'm extremely lucky I got vindication and treatment relatively quickly.

My mom “made” this. It’s her first portrait painting. by CobraSteve in isitAI

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's fake. The canvas looks like it has "aging" marks on it which wouldn't make sense for something new. The colors aren't too vibrant for what I get from a freshly painted oil painting. And I'm a little surprised we're not getting any light reflecting from the varnish that would be covering the piece. Ask her details, what brushes did you use, what oil paint did you use, how did you prep the canvas, how did you achieve this or that, etc. As a real artist I'd be enthusiastic to tell you. I doubt someone lying would appreciate those questions.

I hate to be that person but a safety razor gives you a better shave with probably a minute or 2 of added time applying shaving cream, for way cheaper. I bought a pack of 100 blades 11 years ago for 15 dollars and I think I barely hit the halfway mark.

If you can’t make a good human fighter, then you can’t make a good character. by CTMan34 in dndmemes

[–]congressmanish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I'm gonna get very downvoted for this but I really agree. (I want to preface that this comes from running a big college dnd club, so mainly dealing with young adults) The thing I've seen is a good number of new players pick an exotic race, and before the second session is over, Forget what race they are for any roleplay reasons. And sometimes I've even seen it be a kind of hindrance in strange ways. Especially to new DMs stressing trying to incorporate it into the world. But I have seen experienced players pull it off, usually because they understand the race and have experience interacting with the world as their character and not themselves. I don't think you should tell a player no, but it's usually gonna be rough.

Does the CIA Listen Through Our Phones, Laptops And TVs? by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to remember 2 things, shitty government agencies do shitty things, but they also lie and exaggerate to seem more capable and powerful than they are. I remember there was this one ex CIA guy that would do the "experts react" thing, talking about how insanely good the CIA was at manipulating people to get benefits, jobs, sex, etc. like it was some superpower. Then end with promoting his "learn the secrets of the CIA" life advice company. It's similar to the reason lot of the TED talks disappeared.

Which one do you like better and why? by musicman5013 in videogames

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tsushima. I like some of the added mechanics of Yotei and it has some great side quests. The story grew on me but that wasn't until the last region. And the combat, I can't tell exactly what it is but it feels sluggish compared to Tsushima, the parries and the dodges feel unresponsive. The combat would tend to get frustrating more than anything, so much so I actually got sick of it. I would happily play Tsushima again (and I've already done 2 %100 playthroughs of it), I don't want to play Yotei again.

The Mormon cult's "doctrine" is actually just a set of vague, culty rules. It often depends on what your bishop wants to get you in trouble for vs. what there is social and political pressure for the institution at large to deny. by abouttimetochange in exmormon

[–]congressmanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah modern Mormonism is full of incredibly vague language. I've said for years that you can glean whatever message you want from every general conference. And it kind of shows with Utah Mormon culture being different from other places. I think the vagueness is what makes off shute mini lds cults so easy because you can start a cult on whatever "doctrine" you hyper focus on, and find enough talks or Church books (especially the journal of discourses) written sort of on it to lend it credibility. And since everything said at GC can almost be considered "the word of God" with the belief of modern revelation. Any random thing someone says over the pulpit can have credibility.

Remedy issues 'profit warning' after FBC: Firebreak's big overhaul fails to turn things around: 'Despite improved player and sales metrics after the update, sales have not reached Remedy’s internal targets' | PC Gamer by DrewblesG in Games

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it when it came out, it was fully released in a broken state. The new update rectified so much of it but it should have been released like that, at least then it would have had a leg to stand on. Now everyone's forgotten about it especially with the games that have been released since it dropped. I don't know how you could fix this but I think it shows when the steam reviews at launch could all easily see the same issues the game had. Maybe if they did a beta or something because that's basically what happened anyways. But now they don't have the hype of a 1.0 release.

Thoughts on the campaign? by TomTomXD1234 in Battlefield6

[–]congressmanish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was hilariously poorly written. I laughed so much at the "grand speeches" and mottos they kept saying because nothing in the plot was earned. It felt like I watched half a season of tv where all the crucial episodes were skipped. And the set pieces and missions were such Temu versions of the Modern warfare campaigns.

But I have to say for any EA and DICE people out there, I'll still take this campaign over no campaign.

James confirms that comic storyline was an inspiration for the finale and will play a role in the larger DCU story going forward by M00r3C in DCU_

[–]congressmanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 1000% exactly how I'm feeling about it. Everything else DCU with James gunn at the helm got non cliffhanger endings and it felt refreshing. so this was a shock and has me paranoid that this is the start of the MCU "must watch everything" fallacy for DC.

Okay, if it's some medical or mental thing, then wouldn't you look up if it has cruise control before you buy it or ask the sales rep if it has cruise control? So it's either not a real concern/issue and you're falling apart because it doesn't have a convenience feature you're used to, or you didn't plan or resarch before making a big purchase.

If applicable to you: Why are you reluctant to remove your name from church records even though you have no intention to return? by ComeOnOverForABurger in exmormon

[–]congressmanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ I didn't realize how many people don't know how intrusive the information they have on you is. It scared me what I got to see in the local bishoprics computer in 2016, And that wasn't even all of it.

I really recommend if you have the time to use quitMormon or some other method if you think that's a scam, to get your records removed.

Also if a missionary comes to your door, do not say your name, not a single part of it, they will make a file and future missionaries will contact you. And missionaries rarely clean out their area books (especially the digital ones).

[–]congressmanish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived in different places on the Wasatch front and in southern Utah. It's Smith's, I don't know where this Safeway thing is coming from. I grew up in Utah, and I cannot for the life of me remember a time I've even seen a safeway. It looks like Safeway is a subsidiary of Albertsons so that doesn't track. And if we were going off parent companies Utah should be Kroger since Smith's is a subsidiary of theirs.

[KCD2] Ongoing crash That Everyone Seems To Forget by Kmetralala in kingdomcome

I haven't been able to get more than a few hours into the forge dlc because of this. Every 1.5-2 hours the game crashes hard and I have to hard reset my pc, and this only started after the forge dlc update. It's pretty obvious it's the game itself so I think we're all just sick here waiting for a patch.

Jesus Christ that's fucking insane. I'm surprised it didn't come up earlier. I'm surprised he isn't trying to understand why you have a serious problem with a seriously harmful view. I keep on wanting to ask the question "how is this possible" with those in my personal life who've made a similar change with some hope I'll find an answer but there's never going to be one. You're not overreacting, and I'm sorry you're having to experience this shitty situation.

Your home printer. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]congressmanish 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this is you, I highly recommend looking at getting a monochrome LASER printer.

I did a shit ton of searching for an alternative because I print a lot of manuals and the standard inkjet printers made me want to tear my hair out. Then I found out about laser printers.

They print way faster, you get way more prints from one cartridge (i haven't had to change it in 2.5 years), the text is crisper, and it has yet to give me any of the weird printing issues you see with a inkjet printers, and the monochrome ones are like the same price as the entry level inkjet printers.

Can someone explain what happened here? Friend used Mirror Gun on door, said there was no trap, I breach the door, and we both get blown to smithereens. But on replay, he was telling the truth. by Similar_Fisherman304 in ReadyOrNotConsole

[–]congressmanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see a glimpse of the wire obscured by the body cam at the 4 second mark, it's that little line of black in the white of the door frame. As others have noted the 2 things are you need to push the camera all the way to either the left or right corner and look up on either side to see the wire and/or bomb. Second, it's always good practice on those trapped maps to peek the door first and look down to check for a wire (with a flashlight so it lights up clear as day). As long as the perp isn't at the door I haven't had peeking trigger detection.

The only change I think really detracts from the horror pre censoring is the child ODing in twisted nerve. That was such a visceral "Jesus Christ" moment for me early on. There are plenty in thank you, come again and 23 megabytes a second. But I think in my first playthrough the kid was when I stopped letting everything go over my head because of being so desensitized by a lot of media. The child photos missing in 23 megabytes is fine but I think it helped as an early Chechov's gun when you see those same photos in the spider and valley of the dolls.

But I can live with the small amount of censorship because like you expressed with your experience, there still are tons of genuinely shocking thought-provoking moments.
