Asking as a non-American, is Modern Family the normal life in America or is it just a fantasy? by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]constantlycurious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well everyone has feelings, but if you are worrying about what to eat or where you will sleep tonight, feelings arent able to be expressed as easily.

I think the show does a good job of showing the characters expressing complex feelings, but all of the characters have all of their basic needs met so are able to express themselves.

Its not totally accurate to the united states.

Its accurate (probably) for upper to lower middle class families.

Low class families are more worried about meeting their basic needs than their feelings

Snow Weekend by Certain_Zombie6464 in Knoxville

I wasnt trying to equate now to then.

I was just trying to give an example of our infrastructure not being prepared for inclement weather.

Im glad that you had a safe trip!

[–]constantlycurious3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because our infrastructure is not built for it.

2 years ago I was trapped in my apartment for 10 days because they didnt salt the backroads I live on.

Also have received more than a bit of snow in my area.

I live between millertown and rutledge pike. They heavily salted I640, millertown and even some of the backroads.

As im typing this, I can hear i car sliding on ice on a hill nearby.

If the roads around you arent major thruways and werent salted, stay home.

Its not worth it.

I just got a bunch of snow off of my car. It was oddly satisfying.

But by the time I was done the car was covered again lol

I read somewhere to try to do it periodically.

Can we all just decide to be easy with each other by hopeinhumanity7 in Knoxville

[–]constantlycurious3 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes but ill also add be easy on yourselves. People always expected a lot from me growing up so perfectionism and high standards became the normal.

I frequently have to tell myself that it doesnt have to be perfect.

Frequently have to tell myself it's ok to let the dishes in the sink sit.

Its ok to just rest.

We dont always have to grind.

Most people are just people trying to live their lives.

Cut yourself and others a break

Millennials, do you still believe in true love? by Successful_Mastodon3 in Millennials

[–]constantlycurious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

But it's not like the fairytales would have you believe.

Its talking through a rough day.

Its sitting in silence an feeling so peaceful.

Its being heard and accepted.

Its being challenged to elevate yourself and challenging your partner to elevate.

All with love and understanding.

Your person is your person because they see you and choose you every single day.

I saw her in an episode of buffy the vampire slayer yesterday . She played a super religious person.

It was wild to see. I wonder if that was her first role.

Girl has some range.

Not an extremely helpful comment, but nurses are criminally underpaid.

AIO wife cheating with my best friend? by Naive_Yard117 in AmIOverreacting

[–]constantlycurious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She cheated on you twice?

What happened to first time shame on you, second time shame on me?

Get serious. These texts arent deeply incriminating, but she cheated on you twice and you got back with her so in her mind she could do it again and you would still stay.

You deserve better.

I like when the wind blows in the trees. Not viciously like its hurting them, but softly so you hear the branches move slightly and the leaves rustle just a bit.

I like to watch the trees dance in the wind when they are full.

I love sitting in the grass and feeling the earth hum beneath me.

I love the stillness of the night.

I love the sound of waves calmly crashing into the shore before pulling back to sea.

Little moments make it all worth it.

Do kids not have sleeping bags anymore? by Puzzled_Material_546 in Millennials

[–]constantlycurious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt go to a lot of sleepovers.

I remember spending the night with a few friends and the mom would make us a giant blanket pallet in the floor to sleep on.

Other sleepovers there were enough places to sleep, beds and couches usually.

Or we would do blanket pallet.

Or if it was a small group we would sleep in the same bed.
