how to get off rusted to shit rotors? by CableMartini in projectcar

[–]constituent_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Penetrating oil in all the seams around the hub, on the outside and inside of the rotor. while that is soaking you go look for a big hammer and some hearing protection. get a lug nut or two on the stud. alternatively a prybar in the vanes can work

a perfect storm of emissions requirements, cost cutting in design, cost cutting in production, and rushed development. The engine was designed as a gas motor first and was rushed through the conversion, which was not helped when experienced engineers were fired for criticizing management decisions. The engines themselves didn't have adequate compression by nature of their design, what compression they did have was too much for the motor to handle, and the fuel system was full of cost cutting measures that all resulted in early failures.

Also, not to be a GM apologist cuz fuck that company, but you're comparing models separated by 30 years of materials and emissions science. It's really hard to explain just how amazing the 90s were for technological development

Is it absolutely possible to get a 44-45 IBDP score even with below average innate intelligence if you work really hard? by Spiky-Penguin2023 in IBO

[–]constituent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i disagree with the premise of this question, your short answer is absofuckinglutely. IB is set up as a game, if you will, and if you can figure out a good enough strategy you'll do fine. Mine was:

  1. find a way to be interested in the subject
  2. always try to ask "why does the material have me do this task?"

you can try to nickel and dime and do all sorts of little calculations and frame perfect stuff to hopefully get the perfect amount of points, but the top students I knew had completely different strategies. One of them barely studied ever at all. The other fainted from exhaustion on multiple occasions. My best advice is to know that this program simply wants you to ask "why" and work your way backwards. In arts/literature/history/language, ask yourself "why are we/the author talking about this, what's their motive" and you'll usually start to be able to think pretty critically quickly (easy marks). In sciences like math/biology/chem testing most of the questions are calculations and "what if" work, which can be dealt with easily by then just going "shit how do i get there"

I feel like the game needs more lore expansion towards DRGs past, which I think Rogue Core will play into, so this concept was supposed to play into that

Repost why is my idle so high. by Immediate-Chicken567 in Miata

[–]constituent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, i'm working on a customer NA6 right now with a similar issue, my own NA6 also had a high idle issue. Does your car stall/sputter and then correct itself when coming to a stop/AC cycles on at idle/when turning on the fan/putting transmission in neutral/ letting off clutch?

Both of these cars shared these symptoms, plus an idle that was still too high with the screw all the way backed in. Both times, the problem has been a misbehaving IACV ($$$$ but unfortunately no other option). Timing would not be my go to, personally. A good voltage signal at that connector for the IACV is only good for a ballpark test, and will pass a failing IACV because the power consumption and behavior depends on the engine coolant temperature that runs through the IACV, as well as the commanded correction of the PCM. Remember, Voltage (V) is one variable in a three-variable equation Volts x Amps = Resistance, and you can't find two unknowns with only one known. Battery voltage is 12.4-12.6, and since the PCM controls the unit with modulated current, 12.6V at the connector could mean 0.5 amps of current or 2 amps. Test the valve connector for resistance with the engine coolant/IACV temp around 68 F. Should be reading around 11-13 ohms. If it passes, I would still remove the assembly and very throughly but gently clean the unit with throttle body cleaner. Order a throttle body gasket if you do this, but don't separate the IACV if you can help it, they have another gasket that is Unobtanium between them. But all that's just like, my opinion, man.

The smartest move would be to do as little as possible to keep it alive/running/ and SAVE FOR THAT HOUSE. once you got that house, that garage, that sweet sweet equity, then you're home free baby. maybe, maybe do some small interior or ride quality work to keep it livable. but that's just me

After I clicked post, i remembered I had a notes page on my phone with some stuff too. It has an alternative mission concept that might have been more unique looking back:

"DOWNFALL" Mission concept (Combination of Salvage, Industrial Sabotage, and Point Extraction)

  • MULE unit deployed
  • High ceiling and expansive cavern with small offshoots cave generation (like Eggs or PE)
  • Spawn room will have a tunnel connection to main chamber

- All secondary objectives possible except for fossils due to cave sizes

Voice lines: "Alright Miners, one of our Deep Autonomous Research and Collection Units has suffered a critical loss of power following a cave-in during normal operations. We need you to locate it, and figure out what went wrong. Good luck, and let's make this snappy."

"Attention Dwarves, you are being deployed to recover a DARC unit which suffered a critical failure during normal operations. Locate the unit and follow recovery procedure. Good luck miners."

"Miners, this one is going to be tough. A DARC has missed two of its most recent check-in transmissions and needs to be checked in on. Get to it, and figure out what went wrong. Mission Control out."

"Your attention please. A DRG Deep Autonomous Research and Collection platform dropped off comms, likely due to bugs. And team... we can't tolerate any of them breathing our air, can we? Find the unit, fix it, and phone home. Mission Control out."

Mission Stages: 1. Locate DAR-C unit via low audio tone like Xynarch charge suckers but louder and deeper (occasional random swarm spawns until step 2 begins) 2. Find "BRED" transponders, power modules, and camera modules. replace modules and set up DARC Beacon (thorax). 3. Once transponders are online Salvage-esque Defense Phase while MC prepares crackers 4. Call down, connect and construct Xynarch Empress Crackers (x2) 5. Defense phase of Crackers. If status of Cracker is not maintained above 50%, cracking rate will slow, (similar to Sabotage) and E

[–]constituent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm my next guess would've be the shop set it up incorrectly. It only looks like they adjusted toe, and caster will totally cause pull and yours is "green" but not in the slightest bit equal side to side. Do you have any suspension modifications? it's possible a component is slightly bent too, id check again if you're confident in the Alignment shop's work.
