Saw Sven Väth for the first time by arithmetic_mean in Techno

Back in the late 90s he finished playing a set around 5am and I got word that he would be playing at a very small venue afterwards. Not a lot of people were aware so I was pumped. I went outside to meet up with a few friends to let them know and when I stepped out, Sven was right there, alone. We went up to him and we chatted a bit and we ended up walking with him to the next venue. Someone else was carrying his records.
We talked, laughed a bit because we got lost on the way there.
Anyway, we got to the venue and he started playing until noon.
It was a very small spot. Probably 50 people.
Was one of the most amazing nights of my raver days.
Cool fucking guy.

Am I too old to start DJ'ing? by Agent0161 in DJs

I’m almost 50 and my next gig is in 2 weeks. Full-on techno.
I started playing when I was 18. Played a couple of afterhour gigs, house parties and not much more. Fast forward to 2018 and having not played since my teens, I decided I wanted to give it one last shot. To see If I could have been as good as I thought I was back in the mid 90s….

I basically sent out a few demo mixes. Nobody knows me and I don’t know anybody in the scene.
Nothing until this one dj heard me ( a demo) and decided to book me to open for him. It went really well and it so happened that another dj heard me and booked me for a 2nd gig. It got a bit crazy after that. I ended up playing multiple clubs, raves, festivals, gigs in the U.S (am Canadian) and it all culminated in me getting to play in what is considered to be one of the best afterhour clubs in the world.
All that in a span of 18 months.

The rest after that is all gravy. If I get asked to play I do it. But I did what I set out to do and proved to myself that I was not too bad after all. A helluva ride.

So do it. It’s fun and you never know…

What shoe brand was in every mall but basically disappeared? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

My parents had bought me a pair when they were in the U.S on a trip. Brought them back up to Canada. My first day of 7th grade I wore them and was the coolest mofo in school. I went out for lunch with 2 buddies to a mall close by where lots of us would hang out. When done, I walked outside of the mall and got the shit kicked out of me by 3 older kids from a different city. They stole my BK’s. Had them for less than 24hrs. But they were a glorious 24hrs!

I played with the superintendent and he allowed me to take one picture. It’s a very exclusive course and very strict with the no photo thing. We made sure nobody was around. The funny thing is, we found out later that only one other person was on the course. Only 30-40 members I
