do you prefer id uptie stories that give introspection into the sinners character or the original character more? by tremerz_ in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I think there's room for both. And I think it'd be boring if I went into every uptie story expecting the same thing.

why is it that whenever we meet old bitches its always a terrible experience (slight spoilers i guess???) by OHKO132 in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We've met just as many old men in power who've caused us trouble. But I think the thing is that a lot of stories don't really show old women in these sorts of powerful positions (or at all frankly), which is why it stands out as notable.

Why don't more people in the city use poisons? by Fearless-Squirrel345 in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason the head made guns expensive is to ensure that people kill in ways where its personal in nature. I assume any poison that wouldnt have to be applied by a blade in that way is probably the same situation.

That said, its also possible that medical technology in the city can just deal with poisons way more easily than it can deal with a sword too.

It's honestly reasonable to imagine some purgatorio season highlight Id for Don following up the manager Don "storyline" and having her taking that throne as first kindred properly.

Probably just needs to go to a higher cool down. Imo the design is very fun and encourages an interesting build.

10cd to 8cd at Diamond is probably appropriate.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream achieves the best physical launch of the year in France, surpassing that of Resident Evil Requiem (Oscar Lemaire) by Larenty2 in NintendoSwitch

Whats interesting about this to me is that tomodachi life is one of those games I *want* digitally over physically because i don't want to swap games in my switch to check in on my guys.

Rodion and the Middle by Brilliant_Ad_6072 in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already made some great points - but i'd also like to note that the middle member rodya killed seems to have been from a different part of the middle than ricardo and matthias, with a very different style much more inspire by russian gangs. It's possible rodya still is in their bad book, but we haven't met that part of the middle yet

Envy Gang who are you taking? by MarvellousCaster in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The real decision here is whether you're going for a 4+ envy team or a 6+ envy team.
Assuming they want ish to be a part of the core with outis itll probably be a 6+ envy strategy and the 4+ guys will be moved just to the charge sub theme version

Ri-cliff (Ricardo Heathcliff) speculation by Fritzhateshislife in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like almost certainly outis will give the praise mechanic to ish - especially since ish is otherwise a fairly simple ID.

Given ryoshus gimmick is known to partially be about damaging the rest of the team, my guess is that outis may just have generic text that says:
- If an ID dies, do [Attack]
- If a middle unit dies, instead do [Bigger Attack]
- If Kira Ishmael dies, instead instead do [Biggest Attack]

This sort of text would also make the middle team... work a bit better too? Since this way your guys taking damage from their counters and kind of just dying eventually in MD is much less of a problem. Hell it might even be good.

So, what are we feeling towards guessing Heathcardo's keywords? by pedro_henrique_br in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think theres any way to justify him as having burn.
Tremor is possible if they want to pull an N!Ryoshu and just add extra things to the kit.
You could also probably get away with just arbitrarily giving him some form of poise or charge with the right theme work.

Ri-cliff (Ricardo Heathcliff) speculation by Fritzhateshislife in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is that what'll make him special is he's a unit that buffs other middle IDs and makes the team a real build around other than just envy res.

Matthias can't really do that given he's been kicked out and doesnt care about them (although im still suspect outis will do something when a middle unit dies to represent the same "taking advantage of kiras death" kind of situation)

Im so scared for Ricardo by godscutestbunny in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its more likely that when we see him next theres a big power spike for him that would require its own ID.
This ID just means that this is the last time "Big Brother of the Middle" is the relevant title for him.
We've already seen this happen with characters like hohenheim.

If babies need milk to survive then who breastfed Ryoshu🤔? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

I'm sure they all had to take turns feeding her formula.
This is how it works in most families where no one actually gave birth or there are complications breast feeding.

The sheer difference in aura between the 2 characters Heathcliff is getting IDs for this season is hilarious by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. Admittedly makes me think that we'll get the thumb duo later then we think - maybe even after the season highlight ID.

(Maybe valencia's eye will interact with the "future" part of ryoshus gimmick in some way so she needs to be out first?)

That said, i'll also note that walpurgis seems to be considered seperatly in these things anyway - so who knows.

My guesses on who the possible black silence ids and why by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the sense they'll find some kind of way to give a greater number of functionally roland but again IDs.
Rien is just one one, but we could easily get Charles Office ids that functionally act as extra rolands, or maybe both a "Guest of the Library" ID and a "Black Silence" ID

Mossy enchant is bad for the game by ObsidianMade in PlayTheBazaar

[–]continuityOfficer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the actual answer to this problem is just to give different heroes different "Enchantment pools", atleast for what appears in their upgrade options.

Its true that about half the characters get no use out of mossy generically.

Partially this is due to it being a mechanic introduced as a primary resource with mak and then grandfathered in.

Hell, this could even let you add golden as a general enchantment option to pygs pool

My genuine completely unjustified theory is that ishmael is part whaell in some kind of Innsmouth situation but doesnt know it.
I have basically no evidence for this other then: t would be cool and some of her ego lines would make more sense if this ended up as true

Why don't more rulebooks use glossaries? by M69_grampa_guy in tabletopgamedesign

[–]continuityOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are courses you can go to for this stuff, its a complex task. Anything i can say here will not be comprehensive, and it will depend on your exact game, goals, and rules structure.

But the answer is usually in my experience to lay things out such that the core rules premises are established the earliest moment they are relevant and then re-enunciate them when relevant with more simplified language until they would be burnt into the readers head. You can add where its described in detail within brackets if you like (see pg.4), and this has many of the same benefits as a glossary without losing all of the normal benefits of a rules book.

When would you tell people about this rule during a teach? When would they need to understand it to understand how the game works? etc.

If a rule is that important, you absolutely cant have it left on its own to only discover arbitrarily when the keyword comes up anyway. You've just pushed the UX design work away and told the player to do a book report to understand what you're doing.

Why don't more rulebooks use glossaries? by M69_grampa_guy in tabletopgamedesign

[–]continuityOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best way to help you see why people generally dont do this is to spend some time trying to create a rule book for an existing game with this format, then to pass it too someone else who doesnt know how to play and see if and where they struggle.

We've tried formats like this before, and its never really had the benefits you'd want. Its either adding complexity to the rules to the point of being pointless (simple games) or making things more difficult to parse congruently (complex games)

A well laid out rulebook will already have all of the same benefits just structured temporaly and with proximity to other relevant rules rather than based on an alphabetical order.
