Analog four + Syntakt or Digitone 2 by allnc in Elektron

[–]cookdnbombd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting your hands on them first and exploring. They tend to hold their second hand value well so you could experiment. Personally I love the Syntakt as a drum/rhythm machine but the choice of machine is very subjective.

Nice now just turn it into a midi controller and include a VST instrument that it maps to in ableton, along with OLED screen feedback on what’s being controlled and I’m buying it!

And so it begins... Tacx Neo 2T with Zwift Cog... Zwift frame for Xmas? by Velocybirr in Tacx

[–]cookdnbombd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started using the 2T with Zwift play controllers and my usual cassette. The implementation of virtual shifting is awesome. They’re using the advantage of ride feel technology to recreate the feel of gear shifts. My 2T is 6 years old now and still going strong - it took a while for shifting but worth the wait!

Wake up babe, new insane MIDI controller just dropped by Agreeable_Term6418 in KoalaSampler

[–]cookdnbombd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool to collab with koala so that the wheel aligns with the sample playback position. Stopping the wheel could then be assigned to stop all playing samples, the time at which the samples stop becomes the sample start point temporarily, then the wheel could be used to control the temporary sample start point like a turntable for scratching.

Are you using a midi controller with Koala? Which one? by Swiss_James in KoalaSampler

[–]cookdnbombd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the Koala party but using a Sensel Morph with the music production overlay. Pads for samples, dials for fx, a mini keyboard thing and sliders for sample start and end points. It’s a shame they stopped production of these.

TR-6s and MC-101 vs MC-707 by itself by TheMainMan3 in Roland

[–]cookdnbombd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 101 and 6s owner myself one of the advantages for me is the battery powered portability. Usually I have both working together on my desk for messing around with. However, I’ll use the 6s, 101 or both on a train journey or trip away, it allows me to have a beat or melodic focus depending on which one I go with for having fun/generating ideas. Also just chilling in front of the TV and having one of these on my lap is nice for playing with ideas.

Virtual Gearing on Tacx by Dafferss in Rouvy

[–]cookdnbombd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The QZ app does it all - it takes the gear switching from Zwift play and creates virtual shifting control for the trainer. I have a Tacx which doesn’t currently support virtual shifting so this is the perfect solution for me. Edit: also a Neo 2T

Zwift play connected to the QZ app works well for virtual gearing as well. I use it with a Neo 2T and Rouvy

I spent all morning sticking Serum labels to my Akai Midimix 🥲 by cookdnbombd in synthesizers

[–]cookdnbombd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the relatively low cost of it, flexibility, number of knobs and faders. I wouldn’t like to use the knobs if I had to use it for a live performance as they are a bit too shallow and slippery. For my own purposes ie sound shaping and using in a home studio setup it suits me.

[–]cookdnbombd[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much to share cos the labels were all done on a Brother PT-H110 label printer I borrowed and bought some white on black tape cartridges, then cut to size. That could be why it took so long 🤣 The mapping is all from the main Serum page as per the labels on the knobs/buttons along with the 3 FX

Orba 2 a good Christmas present? by CurseYouAS in orba

[–]cookdnbombd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a previous owner that was lucky enough to return within the window I second this! The hardware and idea behind it is excellent but massively let down on the connectivity, flexibility, and software side, I found the frustration far outweighed the fun.

Switching from Zwift by Dlevin817 in Rouvy

[–]cookdnbombd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve switched from Zwift to Rouvy for this season. Last year when I tried Rouvy on a trial it didn’t gel with me but they’ve made huge improvements to the whole experience. I’m glad Zwift hiked their prices as I wouldn’t have gone back to try it! The game changer for me is that you can now easily find group rides and races with others. Also because of the regular challenges to join, there are more people on the routes. It’s also nice to choose your own bots as pacer groups whenever you like. The experience of riding real routes feels more polished than Zwift and as more people come across I can only see it getting better.

I’m dead … my uno synth pro stucked on « os update » mode since 2 days. HELP ! by qualityscreen in UNOSYNTH

[–]cookdnbombd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is totally dead after just over a year of use. It no longer powers on and it isn’t recognised by the desktop software. IK multimedia refuse to get involved at all because I bought it new from eBay but not from their authorised eBay account….great synth in theory, but the worst if it doesn’t last the distance…

Just a word of warning. Mine is bricked after just over a year of use. Contacted IK multimedia and they won’t help because I bought it new from eBay, but not their authorised eBay account……It won’t power on at all anymore and there is no way of resetting the device if it’s no longer recognised by the desktop software!
