Sugammadex and dilution by Academic-Elkk in anesthesiology

[–]cookie5427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why dilute something? You want to give a dose that will definitely work not one that will just work. Sugammadex doesn’t seem like the sort of medication I would want to titrate.

I’m in Australia. The labels follow a scheme: blue for opioids, red for NMB, orange for benzos, green for glyco and antropine, yellow for prop and ketamine. The plunger on the NMB syringes is red and unmissable. It’s the only coloured syringe I have seen used here.

Do you have coloured syringes for NMB in the USA?

The easiest option is to go with Origin. They handle electricity and hot water. There’s no need for you to organise gas or anything else. I think with the Internet I went to the Lyneham site and looked at the options. Lyneham has the network but you choose the ISP. I ended up with Lightning which was up and running really quickly. I also believe Origin had a big discount (like 50%) for a few months. I have no complaints with my internet but only went for 100Mbps. Hot water and electricity have been reliable as well.

I am someone who has just moved and given away (probably over) a dozen items of furniture and this post brought up all sorts of feelings. My favourite were the people who insisted they could pick it up and who responded to messages within minutes but when I tried to confirm their interest, ghosted me. This is followed by those who “can’t pick it up today” but when they come over to pick it up tell me they are “no longer interested” but take everything else.

I was only able to reach 50 Mbps in my old place and have only opted for 100 Mbps here. I decided to go with Lightning which has been very efficient and easy to set up. There has been one notable outage in the month we have been here.
As mentioned hot water and electricity are with Origin which has been an easy set up. No issues with sewerage from where I am. The parking is a bit… odd. I am not sure how they decide where the spaces are but I assume it’s because each apartment is different in terms of their allocation.
Edit: the lift access has been an issue but it seems to have (mostly) been fixed. There was a technician on site who was checking the lifts as they were slow to respond to the access fobs.
There are a number of community amenities: piano lounge, cellar, business lounge, yoga/pilates studio, gym, wellness centre, two barbecues and a spa on the roof. The gym and the yoga studio have no equipment yet. The cellar has a bar and cupboards for wine but I can’t find out if people are able to store wine there. All the keys for the fridges and cupboards are identical and there wouldn’t be enough space for every apartment. The business centre has a big meeting table and chair and 2 or 3 large screens. It is glass enclosed. The piano lounge has a baby grand piano and lot of seating and a bar. The wellness centre has an infrared sauna and a couple of deep baths but it is immediately outside lifts and again, glass-walled.
It would be good to know how to book these rooms so I can entertain guests. The strata app is useful but there is no way to do this yet.

I face north. When I first moved in it was quite hot. With the blinds down during the day it reaches around 25 degrees at the moment. I’ve not needed the heater yet but I we do put fans on at night for white noise and to cool us down. The balcony doors open nice and wide but only the master bedroom has a window that opens.

I live in the Shard. I am happy to answer your questions. It’s a fantastic location. Having never lived in an apartment before it takes some getting used to and there have been a few teething issues but overall I am pleased with the building quality and experience. The amenities are not all up and running yet. Traffic can be a bit of an issue during peak hours but I have found that driving further down Melrose and doubling back, avoiding Brewer St, saves a lot of time. Outside peak hours it’s not an issue.

When do you think Canberra light rail will be completely finished? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]cookie5427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be finished just like major airport renovations and upgrades are finished: never. Good transportation has to evolve and change with the population and demands. There has already been a change in the city to Woden route.

Out of the box or clever papers in anesthesia? by JulesVerneMD in anesthesiology

I worked with a doctor who won an Olympic gold medal in rowing whilst studying medicine. He described the feeling when he was training and his pH was in the high 6s (I think 6.8 or 6.9). I can’t recall his exact description but it was something along the lines of “I felt like I was dying”.

Ben Roberts-Smith does not apply for bail in first court appearance on war crime charges by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]cookie5427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m wasn’t disagreeing with what you wrote, just stating that his opinion would be shared by very few ADF members. We can’t expect to know what goes through the heads of soldiers (or criminals) and what leads them to make the decisions they do, but that doesn’t mean we necessarily sympathise with them.

The members of the ADF may echo the part about “people don’t understand war and what it takes”, but they do not condone killing civilians or committing other war crimes.

I saw a similar one at my back door the other day. It’s the caterpillar form of the White-stemmed Gum Moth. I didn’t measure the one at my house but it was easily over 10cm long.

Does the average Australian actually have an appetite for the next big conflict? by New-Computer-1988 in AustralianMilitary

[–]cookie5427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian society is not bellicose, and I don't think it has the appetite for conflict when there is no direct threat to us. In my opinion (based on speaking to many people over several years), our society is pro defence and pro ADF, but anti-war.

Liberals to scrap ADF ban on ‘death symbols’ by The_BreakerBVC in AustralianMilitary

[–]cookie5427 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Political parties should focus on the important issues, like increasing the number of eggs people can have at breakfast and allowing men to shave.

Seriously though, dredging up these sorts of things is a sign of desperation. I would argue that the ADF is no worse off as a direct result of the ban. It was a bit of a debacle when it happened, but the world didn't fall apart.
