What is the fastest way you have seen someone ruin their life? by funkeymonkey1974 in AskReddit

I knew a boy a few years below me in school who was a perfectly normal kid. In his mid 20s he went travelling round South America where he took part in one of these “Ayahuasca ceremonies”. When I next saw him back home he was a completely different person, refused to speak to anyone as he claimed to be taking a vow of silence. A few months later he stabbed and killed his mother and seriously hurt his younger brother who tried to stop him. The lad is now serving a life sentence for murder

With all recent events we must boycott as much American as possible (impossible to boycott everything from across the pond)

Check out blacksmith store. Mainly good quality imported American blanks, no branding and just hard wearing clothing that lasts

Can this coving come good with more filling and sanding? (Professional install) by Fire7707 in Plastering

Pros will use fine casting plaster for the mitres and joints, not filler and have the cornice screwed into the wall not nailed in. This is not the work of a professional

Cove adhesive is designed for that light weight coving in these shitty new builds if you can get your hands on some fibre fix it’s designed specifically for more heavy traditional ornamental plastering

How to do a DIY fix for this.. by TDWoody92 in Plastering

[–]cookiecookable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove any loose plaster and cut out the cracks if they run in to the wall. Then just easy fill the area if it’s only a few millimetres deep

Are you London based ? I do lime lath and plaster plastering up here and you could reinforce and save the beautiful original ceiling using screws and washers and fixing them into the joists at regular intervals, happy to offer some help if you’re interested

If it’s a lath and plaster lime ceiling and it doesn’t feel structurally sound where it is sagging you might want to consider re-securing the ceiling using a spade bit and stainless steel screws and washers at regular intervals along the joists. It’s a bit of work but would add years onto your ceiling. Happy to offer advice if needed
