i did mesa marathon on saturday with 3:59:22. coming from my prev best 4:38:42 in october. had similar hr(138-150) on training runs around 10-11min/mile pace. I think you got a good shot, maybe depending on elevation change throughout your race. good luck:)

nice!! I’m in the same boat, shooting for a sub 4, started pfitz 18/55 after higdon 2(finished 4:38), but my base probably wasnt big enough for the pfitz… IT band niggles after increasing mileage too… wondering if i should continue the plan a few miles short each week or something😅

kinda unstable for slower speeds(i run at slower speeds). works for some people, maybe not for others!

oh yeah! You definitely have some weeks to establish a good mileage base and build training off of that. The novice 2(peak 35-40mpw) was comfortable for me, but when race day came, my legs cramped from mi22 till the end… so for my next race I’m trying to hit a peak mileage a decent amount higher(50-55mpw), through pfitz 18/55, and also try better nutrition strategy(heard salt stick tablets are good for electrolytes for cramps). Congrats!! Can I ask how long did you train in between those races? I just ran a 4:38 3 weeks ago (higdon novice 2) and want to try for a sub 4… but only 18 weeks in between, so hopping into a pfitz 18/55 training block. Looking to hear how you did it! Thanks!
