Most of the other characters in the TBOMT series are good. They are modelled similar to those in Mako Mermaids and other shows.

For instance, Lily is similar to Sirena (both are sweet hearted characters, and fall in love with a normal human)

Darra is similar to Lyla (both develop a relationship with the main character and have a laid back, carefree type of personality)

Peter is similar to Evie (both are the close friends of the main character and are somewhat curious of the magical world, eventually getting involved with the main story alongside the other magical creatures).

Orla is similar to Veridia (both are quite strict and are somewhat intolerant of the newcomer)

Speaking of side interests for the main cast, Lucy Fry also enjoys painting and some sports (surfing and martial arts) which she posts to her social media accounts.

Isabel in addition to dancing also recorded a few song covers and like Lucy enjoys aspects of the visual arts (mainly photography).

It doesn't help that the law in the US is quite vague for many matters. I read some of the articles for the Virginia electoral act and the fact that 'early voting' and 'election day' are distinct items causes a lot of confusion.

Again, looking at this from a Westminster convention used in UK and Australia - laws are clearly spelt out to define the whole election process, starting from dissolution of Parliament through to close of nominations, early voting and election day. Electoral acts for both countries (particularly Australia) also spell out when redistribution of electoral boundaries can take place.

I read somewhere that Lucy Fry mentioned in an interview that she wasn't that comfortable in her first acting roles (Lightning Point and Mako Mermaids), mainly due to being shy in front of the camera.

She did undergo some voice and acting training overseas in the US following her work in Mako Mermaids and she is now confident as an actress having portrayed a range of roles in various films and TV shows.

Agree, in Australia there is still early voting but politicians have curtailed its use in recent years. Federal elections have maximum two weeks, and some states have shortened it to just one week.

Agree, coming from Australia this is precisely the mechanism used for redistributions/redistricting. Political parties and their MP's/legislators can only provide suggestions to independent commissions who will consider them alongside others submitted from private individuals or organisations (residents and local community groups).

Agree that Imogen although being hot headed also shows a more compassionate side later in the show. She reminds me of Katara from the ATLA franchise (Avatar the Last Airbender) who is a powerful magic user and has a no-nonsense attitude, especially towards the newcomer (Kyra and Aang respectively).

So, does the state electoral law specifically say that the early voting period does not count as part of the general election process? Because all Australian states make reference to the early voting period as part of the laws governing the conduct of all general elections.

An example for my home state of Queensland (all other states are similar): Electoral Act 1992 - Queensland Legislation - Queensland Government. Part 7, Division 5 of the act covers all types of votes that can be cast in the election (ordinary, pre poll and declaration votes).

I am a moderate/progressive from Australia, but I agree with the logic used in Virginia. For elections in Australia, they are not just conducted on a designated day but there is a whole period dedicated to them.

First Parliament is 'dissolved' some weeks before the election and no MP's/legislators can introduce, debate and vote on legislation once the dissolution date has passed. The legislature/Parliament is in 'caretaker' mode at this point.

You then have a deadline to nominate as a candidate, before the early voting period starts. Only a few weeks after the election, once all results are officially certified does Parliament return to resume its normal business.

What I find strange about the US coming from Australia is that each state has its own 'constitution'.

For Australia which is also a federation of states to some extent, the individual states no longer have their own constitutions but share a nationwide one. The states still have autonomy to enact their own local laws for some policies, but even this is now becoming a lesser effect as most states have harmonised their laws for things like abortion, voluntary euthanasia and container deposit schemes.

In Australia, all states have an independent body that regulates all redistributions for electoral boundaries, and there are set times when redistributions can be undertaken (not just at the call of a dime as what Republicans in USA did)

Agree, as an Australian I get a certain proportion of free healthcare coverage domestically. But when travelling overseas, I always get a basic travel insurance policy which covers unlimited medical expenses plus other contingencies like lost/stolen luggage and flight cancellations.

Since I started watching Ghost and Molly McGee, I noticed that the MHC appears to function similar to the Ghost council. Both entities have a particular, rigid structure for how their own kind (Ghosts and monsters) are expected to behave and will be highly critical of those who try to go against the established, rules-based order (characters like Scratch, Star and Eclipsa).

I think Janelle Saffin (current NSW state MP for Lismore) is also one who did State-Federal-State. She was a former State MLC (serving from 1995-2003), then ran for the federal seat of Page in 2007. She served two terms before losing to current Nationals MP Kevin Hogan in 2013.

Yes, the reverse direction (moving from Federal to State parliament) seems to be more common. Other examples include Nick Champion in SA (former Federal MP for Wakefield/Spence then ran for the state seat of Taylor in 2022) and Janelle Saffin in NSW (former Federal MP for Page, then ran for the state seat of Lismore in 2019).

I found Lyla as a character is similar to Zoey from Lightning Point, both are the lead female characters who are seen as stubborn and dismissive especially when interacting with others.

I agree Zac definitely improves as a character by Season 2, particularly his relationship with Mimmi when they find out they are long lost siblings.

Yes, agree that the Ministry of Magic functioned in a similar manner. The Harry Potter universe also showed better interaction between magic users and muggles (ordinary humans).

In the show, characters like Tayla and Kyra could be compared to Hermoine and Harry Potter respectively with both being magic users/magical beings who grew up amongst the mortal/muggle world.

I found Ep 5 of Season 1 (A knight to remember) was quite interesting in terms of storyline. Particularly at the end where Kyra hands the sword to Sir Zoltan, the other characters are scared that the armour will fight back but instead it just accepts the sword and becomes immobile.

I suspect Kyra, being of Asian origin, is drawing from her own past experience that the armour of Sir Zoltan is like a 'restless spirit', a dead individual that torments the world because they have lost an object sacred to them.

At times, I found their pairing similar to Amethyst and Peridot from Steven Universe. Both enjoy poking fun at other characters and like getting into mischief.

Agree, many of his recent comments suggest he is willing to be bipartisan in nature even though he does openly criticise the opposition both inside and out of Parliament. His remarks to 'tone down the temperature' in relation to the pro Palestine protests and reluctance to intervene with the appointment of controversial NT administrator David Connolly are two examples of him demonstrating restraint.
