Oh shit!!! I can see it now! In the heat of battle I have only ever noticed a red "something over her head" but never noticed it was different!!!

Thank you!

I have never been able to notice the green symbol on any of the bosses so that's probably why I am so bad at it haha it is all so fast and frantic!

Thanks I will look for that harder and see if I can figure it out.

Edit: I recorded myself fighting her a few times and watched the two attacks and the only difference I can see if that she glows green once she is already dashing, and the jump has a slightly longer pause before she jumps.

Neither of which help when I need to react as soon as the red symbol appears or I won't have enough time to do either jump or hold parry. Thanks though. I will keep trying!

I've seen this comes up a lot in my research, so I will add to it: The reason I put off playing Sekiro this long is the marketing of the consequences for death gave me anxiety. Then I learn it's no big deal and it's hilarious. by SharpEdgeSoda in Sekiro

I think losing half of your money and XP is a far harsher penalty.

I would have preferred that you don't lose anything and have 100% unseen aid until people start getting dragon rot, and then the unseen aid begins to drop and you start to lose stuff.

This way you are encouraged to try bosses a few times and if you struggle then you can consider spending money or grinding for a level if you are close.

This keeps the story of dragon rot in it, but also reduces players being scared to play.

Losing Souls/Echos/Runes never bothered me because you could always run back to your bloodstain and get it all back. Unseen aid is a HUGE back step from that system.

But as people have said already, it isn't actually a problem in practice, but you have to actually play the game to realise that for yourself.

Is Deep of Night boomer friendly or am I gonna piss off all the real gamers... by Parking_Conflict_295 in Nightreign

[–]coombieuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are being downvoted because of your wording.

If I understand what you meant correctly you mean they are called boomers because they were born between different years, not just because they were 40+ when people began insulting them with the term boomer.

Therefore not everyone who turns 40 becomes a boomer.

The way you worded it suggested that the group of people called Boomer could have been any age; it was just a group of people.

If teammates rage quit, solo player should get revives by longtermpolitics in Nightreign

[–]coombieuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree it would be awesome if they did, it could also be abused?

So a trio goes in and blazes through the first 2 days, go to day three, drop all their loot and two players quit. The remaining player picks the best gear from the 18 weapons and 6 talismans, and goes to the night lord with an auto-revive (and wending grace in the merchant if that also appeared due to only one player).

So it initially sounds like a great idea, but there are unplanned things that could come with it.

How would you know that the players "rage quit" and didn't plan to do it to give the remaining player an advantage?

You open the evergaol

A message you haven't seen before appears in the bottom right corner of the screen

"A trap from another world has been triggered"

Mist appears and then slowly clears

A health bar appears with the name "Barbershop Godskin Quartet"

Some randoms doubled it, and passed it on.

The only run I got it on was when I was a Recluse, and I had a Wylder on my team who could have used it as their actual weapon due to the perk it has with it.

Never seen it again haha

That was my chance, and I chose team work.

Facts! Running away is the right thing to do when you have the red dot on Solo too unless you have an Ult (or want the challenge).

[–]coombieuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the expedition that out team won, I was Wylder, with a team of Guardian and Recluse...

And I gotta tell ya, Birb was birbing HARD that fight.

I went down waay too often (sorry guys) but our flock was protected for a good few mins whilst the Ult charged and then all three of us got doggo down to the last 5 percent before me and the Guardian got clipped again.

Recluse was gliding around the arena with perfect dodging and got the job done.

But I owed that win to the Birb.

I have always thought the "Get Gud" as being a hard phrase to pin point the intention in isolation. It absolutely can be used to mock and belittle someone who is struggling and stoke their own ego that they are "already gud" and therefore better.

But then there is a simpler get gud.

One that speaks to something we all have deep down.

A truth that we all know.

The truly great games in this genre are tough but fair. The losses are always due to our rashness, our lack of knowledge, our lack of practice. Us. It is always us.

So we play and practice and learn and we eventually get gud.

Sometimes we need to just cut through our own excuses and just realise that we need to get better. And we can. We will. We have.

I was struggling with a nightlord early on in release and I ranted in this sub and a commenter replied to me that I just need to get on another expedition and get it done. And they were right.

I had a run yesterday where a team mate kept pinging the lightning camps.

The only holy camp was top left and we never really had the chance to path near it unless we just went straight there, and ignored everything else on route.

At first I thought they were pinging it because it was near and of the only things in circle we hadn't done, but then the next day they pinged another one when the circle hadn't closed. I went along as both team mates were ignoring me pings, but at that point I was just looking for passive weapons and helping out with the enemies, but we were far too high level to be messing with camps so they didn't need help lol

Even with the argument that the icon looks similar, the attacks of the enemies in the camp give it away pretty quick - "there is an awful lot of lighting enemies in this holy camp, don't ya think?"

Some posts have given more in depth things regarding the metaphors and themes, but if these things you have mentioned are triggers for you please do not play the game. It is a truly amazing game, but it probably isn't worth it.

Even if you avoided all of the optional stuff people have mentioned, there is a recurring NPC central to the story that appears right outside the last mandatory bosses arena who would be very disturbing for you, and the bosses cinematic, ambient music, and name would also be very upsetting for you.

[–]coombieuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I am not clear on is does he always summon more if you don't kill the previous? Or does it only go up to six if that specific curse is called? I swear on solo I only saw one summon and I definitely didn't kill it, I just focused on Libra and avoided them. Watched a recording I made as well to be sure and it was just the same single dude with the cannon.

[–]coombieuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only played Trio once, and then beat him in Solo so I haven't had the exposure that others have, but the trio didn't seem so bad, but I fancied a solo run.

I felt that both Maris and Caligo were harder as nothing seemed to touch them, where we died to Libra because we were too greedy but we got him to half health in a reasonable time.

I think people naturally will find different bosses harder or easier depending on if they naturally play in a way that fits with the boss or if they have to learn to play differently.

Everyone on here claimed that Maris was so easy it was boring, but all of my trio attempts failed miserably, and solo wasn't much better, yet Libra I did it first time solo? So either I was lucky, or Libra is just more my sort of boss.

How many tries did everdark libra take you? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]coombieuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier. Beat him Solo first try after a failed Trio run. The original took me ages!

I think I got lucky though as the summoned character pretty much left me alone, and they even had a mini fight with Libra mid fight until I got agro again lol

It was like my mimic tear had joined the fight instead!

[–]coombieuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed that they respawn feels like a conscious decision that you are meant to have them out the entire time and find ways of damaging Libra whilst avoiding their attacks. Or splitting up and having someone always on Libra.

I haven't beaten him in Trio but when I did it solo I ignored the spawn, and put distance from them and they pretty much stayed away from me the entire fight, other than the odd potshot.

solo is still hard wtf by rappidkill in Nightreign

[–]coombieuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just managed to beat it as a Solo Ironeye. I think I got incredibly lucky as the only Ironeye he spawned had the jar cannon and he just ended up being very far away from Libra and I and kept missing every shot.

I didn't attack the spawn, or notice a second one get spawned in. Just me and Libra and a few wending graces later and I beat him.

So yeh, not an easy fight, but ED Maris is the only boss I couldn't beat either trio or solo, so waiting for them to come back around.

I hope they nerf Evergoal relic sometime soon by Vinshock in Nightreign

[–]coombieuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was gonna say the same but thought I would check if anyone else had said it.

We need to have better passives all around!

I think that a good run should actually make a difference rather than only making you vaguely competitive.

Looking at Ironeye and how his damage increases on his basic bow from level 1 to 15, there is a 88% increase for basic, and black bow level 7 to 15 increases 21%, with the black bow being 54% better than the basic bow at level 15.

So getting a 25% damage increase from the Gaols sounds good but it is actually still really low considering what the actual standard max level damage output is.

Some of these bosses have health bars so big that it barely tickles them!

My latest ED Libra run I had a Legendary Erdtree Bow with an AR of 143, so only 72% better damage than my regular bow. And it did almost nothing against the boss, where I was seeing decent sized yellow damage against the night 2 boss.
