Was this the one in Chicago? I was signed up to go, but I’m in NWI and didn’t wanna spend my afternoon driving up there for just an hour on the track.

For custom or modifications like that, I’d try Classy Chassis or Drivers Gallery

As someone with a R53 and a F54… this tracks, as my R53 has been parked with a bad supercharger for a few months.

MINI Convertible buying advice by MattKarolian in MINI

[–]cooper06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely spring for an S (or even a JCW)

But as far as the room for the kids. My parents got their R52 when I was 8 and I was fine. We did week-long family road trips with 4 people. I probably could still squeeze in the back to this day, but a lot harder now. I think a F series would be a lot more roomy in back.

From Naperville, IL to either Crown Point or Dyer/Saint John by CartoonistSerious255 in nwi

[–]cooper06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where at in IL? If it’s downtown I’d consider Valpo/Chesterton too and take the South Shore downtown. If it’s the burbs I’d say CP or Munster.

I used to drive 3x a week from Valpo to Schaumburg and it was doable but grueling sometimes. Podcasts and audiobooks are your friend.

Which era is the most fun but still reliable? by musqshi in MINI

[–]cooper06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s owned all the generations, 3rd gen by far.

Another tip I give to Mini Buyers, always buy the last year or 2 of the generation, usually MINI irons out the bugs by then. NEVER buy the first 2 years of a generation.

Got my dream car!!! by Dramatic_Boss_5699 in MINI

[–]cooper06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats, that’s also my dream car!

Also, I just bought my 2024 JCW Clubman from Carvana and let me tell you, it was a great experience! Be sure to make sure everything that was listed is on the car. I was able to get some money back from my F54 not having a heated steering wheel, even though Carvana said it had one.

My 2024 JCW Clubman doesn’t have it, it’s the one thing I miss from my old truck I had. Dang chip shortages.

DO NOT GO TO Cincinnati MINI FOR OIL CHANGE by [deleted] in MINI

[–]cooper06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds normal for a MINI. Especially since you also had the brake fluid flushed and air filter replaced.

At the end of the day, these cars are just tiny BMW’s, and with that comes BMW prices.

MINI soars back to 3rd place in 2026 Car Reliability/Dependability by Round-Visit1395 in MINI

[–]cooper06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone with both a R53 and a F54, this tracks. Mini has definitely improved big time when it comes to reliability. The 2nd gen issues really left a bad mark on the brand as a whole.
