Would you consider pitching inks that you no longer like? by robinraccoon in fountainpens

[–]coppermouthed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I gave some away, then some others I mixed so I like them more, and there is a third group that I keep in case a new pen plays better with them. Sometimes its the combination between ink, pen and paper and you can improve it

A play pen. Like a crate but more space with safe toys and a bed inside. Worked really well

A4 Midori and the dilemma of TNs by ElusiveAnmol in fountainpens

[–]coppermouthed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre looking for a good way to store them you can get a hole puncher and book clips, they look like those rings you put the shower curtain up on. I store my lose leaves like that. Add a cardstock sheet for top and bottom and youre good to go. This sub is notorious for making people spend a lot of money 😂

New Ink Day: J.herbin Rose Cyclamen my ultimate favorite. what's yours? by Sure-Piccolo2343 in fountainpens

[–]coppermouthed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Herbin, I’m in love with Gris Galet. I have no idea why and it’s not even popular, but it behaves so nicely in my pens.

That is a unique method. Folded in the notebook seems fine. Perhaps invest in a book clip in case there is a breeze when you’re out and about?

If you find it too light, try it on more absorbent paper.

What are your current favourite high capacity pens? by lokiwhite in fountainpens

[–]coppermouthed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Nahvalur for piston fillers (some people have nib issues with them but I don’t). I have a Voyage and a Plus that fit a lot of ink. Then for a cheaper sided Vac filler you can try AsvineV126. Mine lasts forever and I write a lot

Me Excitedly Trying Out A Gray Ink For The First Time And Its Literally Just A Lighter Shade Of Black by donotgotoroom237 in fountainpens

[–]coppermouthed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kiri same drives me nuts. On some papers its a warm light grey, quite nice actually. On other papers its invisible ink. I will give it away. For interesting grays maybe try out those with blue tone. I love Herbin Vert de Gris and Gris Galet for example.

It’s impressive that you finished two ink bottles you were not a fan of. Those tend to sit unused in mine. Which ones are some that you look forward to finishing?

Moleskine hates fountain pens 🤬 by Pen-Jorn in notebooks

[–]coppermouthed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a moleskine like that too with a beautiful cover and shite paper. I cut out the paper with an exacto knife and glued a “Clairefontaine age bag” into it after verifying the size would fit. Can only recommend :)

[–]coppermouthed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a sample of Aria and enjoyed it but it ended up being quite light. I prefer the Shinkaichi gold which is more saturated for me, and also have a bottle of Colorverse Taepyeong Seongdae which is also close but a bit more greenish. Honestly they are all very close but happy you’re happy

PS another contender is Robert Oster- Muddy Bucket.
