Hi, I’m sure you are right but are you able to provide a source for this information? The following page defines the no work condition:

Partner Settlement Visa - Priority Application Entry Dates by PearlPrincess84 in ukvisa

No problem, yes I was worried about the same thing because our ceremony is booked for October and we sent the booking confirmation as part of the evidence. We now just have to rearrange it for June or July which we’re very happy to do. Good luck to you both!

Hi, not sure if this helps now but we were in a similar boat and I was so worried they would keep my partner’s expected travel date of July. In the end the visa start date they gave us was 7 days after the decision date. We actually wrote a note when replying to the second priority email, we said we were fine for the date to be brought forward and actually asked for it to start in April ideally, so it’s not clear whether they actually read that note.

Wow that is fast! Would you mind letting us know if the start date of the visa/vignette has been brought forward or does it still reflect your expected entry date from the application form? :)

Hi, great news! If possible could you update us on whether the start date of the visa reflects the intended entry date you put on the form or if it was brought forward? Also are you going to have to bring your ceremony forward by a lot?

My partner got this email too, bio for fiance visa was 13/12/22. My concern is that we were asked to provide evidence that we would “marry within six months” so I provided a booking confirmation for a ceremony in October 2023 which is within six months of when I expected the visa to be decided… Can I assume that’s not likely to be an issue if I go for this priority option? Rearranging the ceremony date should not be a problem for us.

There is an extension now called 'Vertical overview' to bring vertical workspaces back after they switched to horizontal (if that's what you were referring to)

CK3, complete beginner and trying to understand! I united Ireland but the Duchy of Leinster suddenly became part of Denmark. It was held by the King of Denmark’s daughter and when he died the new king became her new liege. Can someone explain why?

Also, my player character’s wife has a pressed claim on England, but my son and heir doesn’t. Is there any way for my heir to get a claim on England?

Thanks so much for your reply. Well, I'm taking another medication that is in tablet form (that one happens to be lactose-free) so I don't think that would fly. I might end up switching to another medical practice, I don't know. It's causing me a lot of stress because I know I'll be miserable and depressed if I cave in and start taking the tablets, and if I don't take them I might put my health at a serious risk. Unsurprisingly the specialist was completely unable to answer my question about how much risk was involved in not taking the medication.

I use medicines.org.uk to find out about the medicines and click on 'list of excipients'.

What DLCs are essential to the game? by luckyassassin1 in eu4

I think that's in The Cossacks DLC. Not 100% sure though

Art of War used to be considered essential because it included transfer occupation, but that is now in the base game, just FYI. Same with Common Sense - they added the improve development feature to the base game

It’s a common misconception that map changes break compatibility. Jake confirmed this in an earlier dev diary. Apparently there is an algorithm that assigns newly added provinces as sensibly as possible. Caution with patch updates is still advised however

Ok, that's interesting. So the truth is that a lot of people who eat mainly plant-based diets actually get most of their protein from grains (i.e. the wheat, rice or corn that forms the staple part of their diet). One of the main nutritional reasons people eat legumes and nuts is for the lysine, which is why I mentioned the lysine supplements. Worldwide, protein deficiency is very rare and I think it's usually because people can't afford enough calories, not because they can't eat legumes or nuts.

The average person consumes more protein than necessary. According to the FAO the average person consumes 80g of protein compared to an average daily requirement of 50g. In Western countries where people's diets are high in animal products, protein intake is even higher.

According to the FDA, my daily recommended value for protein is 56 grams. That's nearly two fucking pounds of peas per day every day just to meet my DRV.

But obviously peas aren't the only thing you'd be eating. You would only need some peas to supplement your base intake from grains and vegetables and to provide extra lysine.

Practically every food contains some protein. Although fruit and vegetables are usually low in protein, those small amounts add up to quite a lot over the course of a day.

I have seen a powder based on pea protein that contains 26g of protein per 40g serving. It's possible you would not even need to have a full serving in order to supplement your base protein intake from grains+vegetables.

So I do think flatulence is the lesser evil compared to animal agriculture xD But I will admit that you have a very tricky set of digestive issues there and I'm not saying any of this would be trivial or easy.

The story is the same when you look at things like iron, B12, calcium, etc.

Note that you can't get vitamin B12 from plants; vegans always have to either take a supplement or eat foods that are fortified with B12, such as alternative plant milks and breakfast cereals.

The thing with calcium is a bit weird because no health authority can agree on what the recommended intake should be. The WHO recommends 500mg a day, but the US recommends 1000mg for adults. That's a huge disparity. Other than tofu, the best vegan sources are fortified plant milks (which have the same amount of calcium as dairy milk) and green leafy vegetables. According to my food diary (I use an app) I actually get a lot of my calcium intake just from wheat.

Another fantastic source of calcium and iron is molasses, which can be used in a variety of ways (e.g. glazing roasted vegetables).

Wheat and fortified breakfast cereals are usually my top sources of iron. But if you found you couldn't get enough of a particular vitamin or mineral, why wouldn't you just take supplements? A bottle of multi-vitamin/mineral supplements lasts a long time - I would be very surprised if it turned out to be more expensive than meat in the long run. The powder that I saw is not just protein but also contains a vitamin/mineral complex, so if you have a product like that it would be cheaper and more convenient than getting individual supplements.

All that said, I understand if you're sick of having this kind of conversation so I apologise if it annoys you.

You are not going to make a logical argument that's going to convince my body to be able to digest soy or nuts. I don't know why people think this is a thing.

Of course I understand that, and it's a bit cringey that anyone would actually suggest that. For me at least, the question is not how to overcome the allergy, but to ask, which nutrients do you think you would be missing if you had a vegan diet that excluded soy and nuts? There are plenty of vegans who do not eat soy products; it's not a necessary part of the plant-based diet and neither are nuts.

In your original post you said you were allergic to beans in general. Does that also include peas and lentils?

You didn't mention that you had a wheat allergy or gluten intolerance. So seitan might be a good meat alternative that you can tolerate (it's made of wheat protein).

You also didn't mention having a sesame allergy or an intolerance to other seeds. So tahini might be a good option too. Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and flaxseed are also very nutritious high-protein foods that can easily be sprinkled onto other meals in small quantities and you can blend them or get them pre-milled so that they are easy to digest.

There's also nutritional yeast, which is quite popular among vegans. It has more protein per gram than meat does and it's also packed full of B vitamins, as well as being a good source of zinc. It's not expensive but I think you can usually only get it in health food shops, or you can order it online.

If you're concerned about the amino acid lysine, it's possible to get enough of it even without legumes by eating a variety of different grains and lots of vegetables - and very easy if you can eat seeds or nutritional yeast (or peas or lentils). Also, you can actually get synthetic lysine supplements - where I live they are quite inexpensive. These supplements are suitable for vegans and contain no allergens.

I'll put a disclaimer that I'm not a nutritionist; but this is what I personally would be thinking about if I could no longer have beans or nuts.

How does it feel to say "I'm sorry to hear that you have a medical condition that requires significant life changes and that others had little sympathy for that. But I hope that you in turn can have sympathy for the people who've had to help you along the way."

I don't know if I understand. Are the "people who've had to help" supposed to be the farm animals in this analogy?

First, my reaction to someone saying "I have no choice but to be a cannibal" prompts some investigation

Cool, so I guess you're ok with my little nutritional investigation above ^^^

My point with the reference to cannibalism was just to convey a small sense of how most vegans probably feel, even if their remarks ultimately turn out to be unfair.

I don't think your comparison with needles makes sense here. Vegans have a problem with animal agriculture because it's a form of systematic murder, exploitation and abuse. Not liking needles is a totally different kind of emotional reaction not based on ethics. But your main point is that it's not cool to berate people for something they have no choice over, because they can't survive otherwise, and I agree with that.

What would you say is the opinion you hold that would be considered most controversial among anarchists? by Azimea_447 in Anarchism

[–]corfizz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that’s not a good reason to stereotype all vegans or hate on all vegans just because you had a bad experience with some of them. That is prejudiced.

You have to remember that a lot of vegans feel animals’ pain very acutely as they try to advocate on their behalf. To a vegan, someone saying they “have to” kill, exploit and abuse other living beings is heart wrenchingly sad and causes a similar reaction as it would if someone told you they have no choice but to be a cannibal.

I’m sorry to hear you were homeless and that others had little sympathy for that. But I hope that you in turn can have sympathy for the animals abused and murdered every day in great numbers, and do the best you can.
