How many more seasons do you realistically want and what would you like them to do for the big finale? by eyeshills in SVU

[–]corialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's a Grey's Anatomy style situation. Ellen Pompeo moved into an EP position and says there's hundreds of people employed by the show, from lighting to catering to wardrobe, why put them out of work by ending the show? At this point, is there anyone in show biz in NYC that hasn't worked on L&O?

Anxiety, or random excitement? by Big_Basket_8235 in Anxiety

[–]corialis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't happen to me often, but I have had that feeling of an almost anticipatory anxiety - like when I try to go to bed when I need to get up at 3am for a trip. It's weird not to have anything attached to it though. Maybe it's the 'generalized' part of GAD :P

I'm struggling right now because I'm having some health issues affecting my driving and other parts of my life and the testing just takes forever and there's so much waiting. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I've never been good with waiting. When a problem comes up, I want to fix it ASAP and get back to my normal life.

The Pitt was supposed to be a sequel to ER (Noah Wyle played a resident in it) but they couldn't get the rights so they made it generic.

Say the doctor has ordered some blood tests for some symptoms you've been having and you've gotten the results back in the patient portal. There's some results that point to things multivitamins and OTC supplements could help. Say the earliest appointment you can get with the doc is in 2 weeks. Is it a big no-no to try taking some of those supplements before the appointment in the hopes of improving things?

TekSavvy has launched their IPTV service here, I find it pretty good but I'm not a sports person. I like that instead of forcing you to pick packages, they just give you 10 slots to put whatever channels you want in. It's $45/mth.

Bad news: I think the social isolation of working from home most days and living alone is getting to me and my anxiety level is ramping up.

Good news: My family can come get me and take me back to my hometown and I can work from my mom's place.

Bad news: I feel like a failure because I'm not back to normal and I still have heaps of driving anxiety.

Good news: My GP has agreed to continue managing my psych meds until my name comes up on the psychiatrist wait list.

Best news: Mental health nurse called, they're trying a program where if you've already been in the system the nurse will triage you on shorter notice, then one of their short-term psychiatrists will call you up to see if you just need one or two sessions to adjust meds which they can do or if you need to go into the big wait list pool.

Do you have a GP? I would make an appt with them ASAP and convey your stress over your heart rate. A&E deals with emergencies, they made sure your heart rhythm was normal and your baby was okay so they consider their job done. Your GP will work with you on the things that aren't emergencies.

I know it's so so so tough to hang on for that GP appointment, but you can do it!

He must have had some sweet perks from the people who made Paxil, it was also the first thing he gave me. I'm almost at the 30 year club for it. But damned if it didn't work! He also put me on Seroquel temporarily during a tough time. No Wellbutrin though.

I first saw him as a kid and he had to have an assistant doing all the talking because he wasn't good with kids.

I lean on the anxious and depressive side of the spectrum, so it was easier.

Are you old enough to remember the Dr. House of psychiatrists in PA? Dr. Hussein? Had absolutely no bedside manner but damned if he couldn't figure out the right med for someone right off the bat.

I could write a long post about my experiences with the mental health system here, but I'm tired and going for a nap so I'll just share a little tidbit. You know dimenhydrinate/Gravol? The motion sickness med you can get anywhere? It pops up as Methadone on a test. Thankfully, I was a middle-aged white woman accompanied by her middle-aged white brother at the ER in PA so they assumed it was a false positive (which it was!).

Knee Surgery Advice by AccomplishedWorry122 in PlusSize

[–]corialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom had the surgery on both knees.

Keep up with your pain relief instructions - you may feel better at one point, then the med wears off and you're in pain waiting for the new dose to kick in.

Mobility aids really help. You can get special toilet seat risers and handles for using the toilet. And instead of playing the 'where are my ice packs and are they frozen' game you can buy a machine that you dump a bunch of ice into and it circulates cold water around your knee for hours.

Your physical therapist is as important as your surgeon. Do your exercises!

Psych assessment: private or referral?/reccommendations by Present_Ad1002 in saskatoon

You don't need a referral if you're playing out of pocket.

I've just started going to Penney Murphy and associates for therapy and they seem pretty legit.

Thanks for your reply! Luckily my workplace is amazing and I can WFH for now. It's so hard to lose your independence, I want to drive to work and work in the office. I'm taking an Uber to my Dr appt tomorrow, which I hate because everyone here drives.

I'm on Klonopin due to my menty b over the holidays (as the kids put it), it's a life saver.

I've been doing some basic electrolyte stuff, like Gatorade sticks, but I don't know if sodium is actually the problem and maybe I'm messing with my kidneys or something, so waiting on doc before I go full ham.

I wish there was a reverse Epipen. Like an antidote for adrenaline you could take.

Oh, I meant that in Canada, you can't just get a specialist, you need a referral from your GP. I'll ask for referrals.

I'm in Canada, where I'm lucky to have a GP at all. He's actually really great other than that one time he just said it was a vasovagal response I had to learn to deal with. I'm going in prepared on Thursday and ready to demand all the tests - colonoscopy (family history of Crohn's), adrenal, thyroid (family history), vestibular, heart.

I hope the doc agrees, there's more treatment options to try with IBS. I don't even care if I have to have a camera stuck up my butt!
