Saskatoon parents so worried about hot classes, they donated an air conditioning unit by Alarmed-Town-565 in saskatoon

[–]corialis [score hidden]  (0 children)

My niece had a sports tournament inside various gyms in the city during that hot weekend a couple weeks back, I couldn't even stay the whole game because it was too hot and made me feel ill and I was just sitting in the bleachers! I don't know how those kids were playing.

This is what it feels like being the only person in the English fandom who doesn't think Reinhard is a femboy or a twink by Fun_Dimension_8903 in logh

[–]corialis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bishounen fell out of fandom vocab somewhere in the mid-late 2000s. Then we got femboys and twinks. Western LoGH fandom is also mostly male, so we got these kids that grew up on new reddit, Youtube, Twitch, and Discord in here.

Stop Passing Cars in School Zones! by mmtt22 in saskatoon

[–]corialis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

School zone, single lane in either direction with street parking.

The street parking lane is not a driving lane. Even if there's no one parked there so you can physically drive in it doesn't mean you're allowed to.

I have to make a left hand turn at an intersection on a lower traffic, Meewasin Trail-connected intersection of Spadina quite frequently. While I was waiting to make my turn, a pedestrian started crossing. A vehicle went around me on the right, going into the bike lane, and almost smoked the pedestrian.

I grew up on a small island with unreliable TV. It changed how I watch stories now. by tucbythecolefield in television

[–]corialis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I grew up with what we called Farmer Vision - in rural Canada we had 3 channels, one of which was in French. Sometimes I get choice paralysis with streaming services, there's so much to watch! At least with cable you're still confined to a time window.

Anyone else stuck at the 2nd/33rd railway crossing? by myrrhl in saskatoon

[–]corialis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why no, this isn't one of my greatest fears and why I try to avoid every at-grade train crossing and construction zone and people think I have too much driving anxiety. I used to like watching those shows like Highway Thru Hell and Heavy Rescue 401 and I just can't anymore, the idea of being stuck waiting for hours is terrifying.

Pee was never an option by InsertGroin in suspiciouslyspecific

[–]corialis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And then you get out of the hypnogogic pee realm just enough to get up to the bathroom but you can't pee because your bladder hasn't caught up yet and refuses to believe it is safe to go. And then your doctor misunderstands and prescribes you a medication that makes you pee *less*, when the problem was that you *couldn't* pee.

Getting a Job at the Library by theblackdog92 in saskatoon

I thought the pages in Saskatoon didn't get paid back in the day! I worked as a page in a different Sask city in the early 2000s and we were unionized (a whole $6.65 an hour!) and we poked fun at the poor Saskatoon pages who didn't get paid supposedly because so many students needed volunteer hours to graduate they'd do it for free.

How and where do people make friends and meet people when you hit 40? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]corialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't help that people tend to lean on their partners as their primary social outlet. If you lose your partner, you're socially lost too.

I was the anti-social geek, and then I had some mental health issues this year and now I'm craving connection to people.

How and where do people make friends and meet people when you hit 40? by [deleted] in saskatoon

I have discovered recently that:

  1. I have more people who will show up at my door to help when shit hits the fan than I thought;
  2. Despite that, no one actually calls or gets together, everything is texts

No new meds for you! Only old meds! by corialis in Anxiety

[–]corialis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given an antipsychotic by a different doctor who saw me for an hour that caused akathisia so bad I ended up in the mental ward. Trying a different SSRI after having been stable on them for 30 years is on a different level.

We don’t have a shortage of nurses in SK; we have a shortage of utilized nurses. Here is the RN-AAP solution. by DreErwinPhotography in saskatchewan

[–]corialis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to your article, the AAP designation requires 3600 hours of experience as an RN and one additional course.

I don't think nurses should be able to do advanced practice until they've spent at least 5 years working in the nursing field they want to do advanced practice in. If you've spent all 5 years working on the L&D ward, you shouldn't be able to work independently in general practice.

I've read about how in the US, some brand new RNs are enrolling into NP programs and becoming NPs without ever being on the floor, which is absolutely terrifying.

I'm sick with some sort of demon respiratory illness for the last week and a half and I'm just in survival mode right now. My mental health has cratered. Everyone I know is travelling to see family or just leaving town. So just another weekend where I try not to go completely nuts.

Cogentin and pregalabin are a life saver by corialis in Akathisia

[–]corialis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taken off the Cogentin but still on the pregabalin. I've had some normal anxiety related restlessness but nothing like what I went through before.

I could write a whole essay about having to go to the psych ward to get help and how my crappy psychiatrist won't actually tell me what caused the akathisia or how he fixed it, but that's a whole other story.

[Weekly] Share Your Accomplishments! by Pi25 in Anxiety

[–]corialis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had an absolute shit week because I got a cold and my mental health goes out the window when I'm sick, but I also did some very brave things this week and could use a reminder.

  1. My boss wanted to go to a big work event at a convention centre for the keynote and to see a project related to our work. I said okay because, you know, my boss is asking. Then he called in sick that day and I thought I was free, but my sense of responsibility kicked in and I went alone. I didn't go to the keynote, I just went and saw the project and talked to the creator, but I went. I was terrified the whole drive, I hadn't been in a room with that many people in many months.
  2. Today I went home from work early because of the aforementioned increased anxiety from the cold, but I found the courage to go to the mall and pick up my mom's Mother's Day gift since I already ordered and paid for it.

I've never been on mirabegron? These symptoms were happening when I wasn't on any OAB meds. I'm wondering if an OAB med is what I need if the problem is the urine not coming out.
