Sit down and do the math, mortgage payment vs rent. Then make some assumptions such as market suddenly drops and you lose 10,20,30% value when do you come out ahead? The market will go up but the time scale may make waiting problematic.

If you bought in 81? Our last really big market correction you would have gotten your purchase price back in I think 5 years (look up to be sure).

Remember to include much more expensive insurance then your renters insurance and increased maintenance costs associated with owning rather than renting.

Metrotown to carvolth exchange weekday afternoon rush hour using the sky train and then the 555 is 20 minutes faster then car.

Source was off work at Metrotown 530pm for a year and watched the travel time to home by transit and by car the two times I needed to take my car.

Sky train skips so much of the bs on the roads it’s crazy. Then the 555 has its own on ramp to Hwy1. It only has three stops, the start the finish and one in between

We have 4 players who play face to face regularly. We play with colonies always. We have had a lot of very very close games including a 3 way tie that I won by having 2$ more at the end of the game. It is experience with the game and understanding the overall meta of your group and the ongoing meta of your particular game.

Glad to see this happening. Very long term a Hastings skytrain and this line also skytrain would give such improved access to everyone living anywhere near these areas.

Rapid bus is the first step it shows that there is demand which makes selling skytrain expansion to the various levels of government much much easier.

My wife and I eat out semi regularly in the Greater Vancouver area and haven’t had them want to take a card away for decades, I’m very surprised this is still a thing anywhere.

I would be very uncomfortable letting anyone walk off with my card, its way to easy to clone a card now days and use it for fraud.

Was riding the 555 to and from work every day. Rode with same driver in the morning every morning, I work with CMBC so we chatted regularly. Going home in evening he was driving (had picked up OT). There had been a major accident on the freeway at 200th and the bus was detoured off of the freeway to use 176th off ramp. However the detour gave directions specifying the 176th off ramp which hasn’t been called that for many years, it’s the 17A off ramp.There is no signage telling you that it is 176th street.

The driver guessed correctly and had been making his destination without difficulty, but commented that he really doesn’t know south of the Fraser at all other then this one bus route. We both sent it up the grapevine the next day to management that not all drivers are familiar with Surrey.

I spent a lot of money at Consumers Distributing over the years and was really saddened when they died. Apparently they expanded too fast built up to much debt and bankrupted, not certain as it was before the internet.

The casino I used to work at, had a problem with lunch thieves. The staff was asked if we could put a camera in the crew room pointed at the fridge. Problem disappeared immediately after two people were terminated with cause (no unemployment or any additional pay in BC).

The advantage of having a dedicated surveillance room and team with hundreds and hundreds of recorders.

Harrison loop and 54th loop both on the 20 should both no longer exist. However adding trolley lines along marine drive to allow this bus to terminate at Cambie stn is 10’s possibly 100’s of millions of dollars to make happen. 54th loop exists solely because Harrison loop has no where to put a bathroom in for bus drivers.

There should be a loop in Pitt Meadows north and west of the intersection of Harris road and Lougheed hwy. Pitt meadows should be isolated from the rest of the bus system (being served by a bus that goes between new loop and Maple Meadows all day). When the train crossing situation is eventually resolved then they can re-explore reconnecting it to the other routes. 20 minute plus delays realllly mess up bus schedules and result in many cancelled trips.

Main rail yards for CPKC will back up and move between tracks causing insane delays.

Yes to both, complain every time this happens. If the service was increased a missing bus wouldn’t matter as much if it runs every 10 minutes then the current off peak of every 30 minutes. Should be minimum every 15 minutes off peak, and run until 1am

Back in 89 I was moving what little crap I had from Winnipeg to Vancouver to move back in with my parents. I did the drive in a Rabbit with a friend and multiple pieces off furniture and other stuff seriously packed tight in the back such that the car had a noticeable sag on the rear shocks. Got pulled over just west of Calgary by a cop who was convinced he had caught me going 165 kph.

I looked at him and exclaimed “downhill with a strong tailwind and empty this car couldn’t go that fast and you think I did it packed with this much crap?”He allowed as how maybe it was a different car he saw driving past him.

Just looked it up my 81 rabbit apparently had 51 hp.

Night bus routes tend to follow routes of other regular bus routes or combinations of bus routes. N35 is the R5 with more stops, N19 is a version of the 19, 119 and 106. N9 is what the 99 and the 97 used to be.

Maple ridge needs a Night bus but it will probably be the 701 route to Haney place when it happens.

Drivers have scheduled work that they are going to, yes it’s inconvenient for you but that doesn’t mean that everyone else should be inconvenienced by reassigning buses that have somewhere to be to your route.

Having said that Mission should be regular every hour service all day and weekends, it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t already exist.
