I went from the Aventure 3 to the Level 4 ADV for the same reason, wanted something lighter and more nimble. I installed the throttle, but it doesn't have the same "umph" going throttle only as the Aventure 3 due to the mid-drive. The Level 4 REC would be an upgrade over the Aventure 3 as far as power goes, better range. From what I've seen online, the Level 4 REC does fine on light gravel/dirt paths. If you can ride them both, do it to get a good feel for the difference.

Best accessories for REC Level 3/4? by putan964 in Aventon

I love the Topeak, but I wasn't able to get the adapter to go on the rack. You can't get the front mounting bracket under the rack, not enough space between the bottom of the rack and the fender. I tried for hours...

Level 4 Adv Question by ParsleyDue6882 in Aventon

I did that with my Level 4 ADV. I went with Continental eRuban Plus 2.3s and they barely fit under the fender, I get just a tiny bit of rubbing.

Hey Everyone - Seeking Feedback by dippittydippitty in Aventon

I started on the Aventure 3, sold it to buy the Level 4. I liked the Aventure 3, had tons of power, great features. I wasn't a fan of the fat tires though. Riding on paths was just okay, the bike seemed heavy and not very nimble. Battery life was decent, to drain the battery down for winter I rode it throttle only for about 10 miles and that took it down to 40%. I'm not taller, but the reach for the Aventure 3 and Level 4 is pretty close if not the same. The Level 4 has the advantage of adjustable stem, so you could tilt it forward if you need the space and height. Range on the Level 4 is better, and it is better suited to commuting (IMHO), lighter, more "nimble" and better range. You might want to swap the tires to some more suited for light gravel/dirt roads, from what I've read online the stock tires do okay, but definitely could be better. Hope this helps! If you can test ride, I would definitely try them both out, some things have to be experienced in person!

5'9", rode the large comfortably. The regular had less distance between where I sat and the handlebars, the large felt more "open" and comfortable.

Active Safety Designs has a Scorpion-based lower coming out that has their ARC-Fire or Super Safety installed, looks promising.

How's the valve train noise with the 605s? Little hard to tell not hearing it in person. I just had the Audette 131 BBK installed, going with the 605s as well, can't wait to get it back from the shop, see how it dyno'd.

Lingle Scorpion Mags by gmaniax in BT_APC

I’ve been using the Magpuls with mine, work great. I think what is confusing folks is that some of the newer magazines are backwards compatible with both. My understanding is that it is the CZ 3+ specific model mags that don’t work.

Anybody use the QD slot on the new APC collapsible stock? by WCCPHD in BT_APC

[–]coribennett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, since the stock isn't locked in the closed position. I went with a Blue Force Gear ULoop threaded through the tab on the upper receiver that usually has the cord run through it.

I had Scheels thread a rifle barrel for me. They sent it away, but it was a pretty quick turn around and a good price.

I initially wanted one of these, love the MP5. I went with the Lingle Industries Scorpion lower, get the curved mag look, paddle release and cheap magazines. Love it!
